Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Flash Company Date: 22 Nov 07 - 11:19 AM If I read what your doc said aright, you caught the cure! There is a lot of that about, S did it last year, not quite as bad as pneumonia, but fainting fits caused by a reaction to BP medication. The first time she did it was in the middle of the night in the bathroom, it nearly scared me to death I'll admit! When he finally got it sorted out our doc said 'You should be alright now we've stopped trying to poison you!' Love from The Cheshire Set Brian Q |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 21 Nov 07 - 11:50 PM Is that a promise, WLD?**bg** Thanks! To you, too, Jacqui. I did ten minutes on the treadmill tonight, with three half-minute stops. I use a pulse ox so I keep my O2 in range and all. It's exciting to be able to do it! |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 21 Nov 07 - 04:31 PM HeyaHil, thanks! I am doing SO much better. I managed nine hours of work last week and, finally, have had my grandson back in the late afternoons, this week. Just an hour or two. Of course with the holiday this week, I won't have him the rest of the week except with all of the other adults around, so no stress. It feels GOOD to be up and able and I am MOST grateful to everyone for their support and care. You are ALL a wonderful bunch! (I was able to do six minutes non-stop on the treadmill! Doesn't sound like much, but believe me it is!) luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: jacqui.c Date: 13 Nov 07 - 09:01 AM i know what you mean about PTSD Kat. I've had some depression twice now following fairly major surgery. At least if you can recognise it and just acknowledge the fact it makes it easier to deal with. I'm glad you are managing the treadmill. Walking is the best exercise post illness/surgery. Gets all the systems back to work again, as well as pumping the endorphins through you. More power to your legs dear! |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Nov 07 - 08:59 AM Morgan takes way more energy, even in two minute increments, but it's good energy and he gives it back, too! Exactly. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: wysiwyg Date: 12 Nov 07 - 10:20 PM KNOW this is NOT like before the surgery... Kat? Kat: You do not have to PROVE that to yourself by getting too physical too fast. It's just TRUE, and you can relaxedly know it and give thanks for it. It's great that you can work, but it's also great if you stay off the treadmill and any other activity that makes you have to check your pulse, for now. When you do get back to exercise, you will find-- I promise-- that it takes very, very little time to get right back where you were before the pewnonia. I can't tell you how many times I have had to restart, in order to know that, but I do actually know it. So CHILL! It does not matter how many times you take a layoff from exercise. It only matters that you re-start, and that when you re-start, you are actually ready to restart. Don't pre-start. Playtime with Morgan, right now, in small doeses, is far, far better than treadmill time. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 12 Nov 07 - 09:30 PM Ah, you all sure know how to make a woman feel special. Thank you so much. I know I keep saying that and it feels inadequate, but I'm not quite to where I can come round and give you all hugs just yet, not since ya aren't all in one choice spot, at least.:-) I am not as fatigued, today, and I managed to work almost three hours. Not all at once, but in increments and THAT felt good. My boss is wonderful but I don't want to take advantage of that. I managed to get to submissions' ratings sheets off to him, today, so that's a good start. Oh, and I got on the treadmill. Did more than that, even walked on it, at the slowest pace for a whopping TWO minutes, rest two, then one more before the pulse went kinda high and the pulse ox dipped a tiny bit. NOT to worry, I had on supplemental oxygen and was monitoring my pulse and pulse ox, so no worries. I stop when things don't look right.**bg** I can see it is going to take some time to get back to some decent exercise, but I CAN be patient about that. It just feels good not to spend the whole day in bed AND to KNOW this is NOT like before the surgery. I AM better and getting more so every day. Ya know they never say much about PTSD after surgery, but I am convinced a person can suffer from it. It's difficult to keep the mind from going there, some times. Thanks, again, my Dear Friends, luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 09 Nov 07 - 12:58 PM Ah, my dear friends. You are all such wonderful folks, I just loves ya! The Doc, considerably cordial today (feeling badly, I think, for some feckwits in his office!), says we have the pneumonia on the run. He will do a chest xray in another four weeks, as he says it usually takes about six weeks to clear it out. I have to see him again in two weeks BECAUSE some of this may have come about due to a possible allergy to an ACE inhibitor. (I told him I have never been inhibited in my life!) He thinks an allergic reaction to an increase in that med may be causing the awful itching which has developed, plus the continued cough even though the lungs sound clear. So, tomorrow, I start a new blood pressure med. and we'll take it from there. I think he may be onto something as the itching etc. seems very similar to the sulfa allergy I have, so another med allergy makes sense. The Doc was teasing my Rog that all he did was marry me whereas the Doc has to keep me going; called me complicated and a moving target. I happen to know he hunts, so told him I though he liked moving targets. He told me only if they have antlers. We didn't go down that road.:-) So, still have to lug the oxygen around for a few more weeks, but my pulse ox is coming up (Thank you el Swanno!). Still have to take it slow and rest when I get tired, but this is a piece of cake compared to 2.5 years ago, so I think I'm gonna make it, esp. with all of you on my side. Thanks, AGAIN!!! luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 06 Nov 07 - 10:33 AM Gosh, now y'all are starting to embarrass me. I have let go of the fear from the last few weeks and really am on the mend though my voice doesn't sound like it. Sins actually ordered me to stop talking! (Probably just 'cause she can't hear a thing!:-) I will see the doc on Friday and expect noting but good news. I am constantly amazed at this place and the good people who inhabit it. I am so proud to be a Mudcat and to tell folks of my good friends not even met, yet! Thanks, again, to all of you. I got an email, yesterday, that really perked me up, too. I'd written to my new boss, the senior editor, to let him know I was going to try to get back to a few hours this week. I've worked two full weeks, then had to beg off the past two. Seeing as how I am new to them, I've been worried they might think they'd made a mistake in hiring me. It's just me thinking that 'cause he's been nothing but supportive and patient. Yesterday, he wrote back to me to say But don't rush back at the expense of your health. Think long-term; I'm hoping you'll be an editor for me for a long time, not just for this week. THAT really relieved me! I know I have to take it slow and I have to stop when I feel tired, but this is temporary and I am so grateful to you all for your help and love along the way. luvyakat |

Do NOT get confused even for a minute that you're "back to how it was." You do not need to give in (now or ever) to any temptation to even start to feel that, much less believe it. Because the truth is, you can simply give thanks for the healing pouring through you in your stronger state-of-being as your powerful and reliable heart organizes all of this relaxed healing time. So cross arms and hug that heart, lady. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 03 Nov 07 - 11:57 AM I'm here, Sins! Thanks for asking. Still a little shaky but cannot stand to stay in that bed one more day. So...I am up, at least. I had Morgan over last night for about 40 minutes. It was so good to get and give a hug. He was a gem, but it was still tiring. We'll try for a bit of time, today, too. I cannot believe how much of a difference there was in just a couple or three weeks. He will be 4 on the 14th and is learning by leaps and bounds. Last night he showed how long his arms are by reaching up to the bookshelf and getting a book down where previously it'd been too high. THEN, he brought it over, opened it to a page, started "reading" it to me, while tracking the text with his finger. I exclaimed over it all, then he gave me a quick smile and said, "See?! I told you I learned to write!" He actually did pretty well from inferences from the pictures. Then he got another book, leafed through the pages and kept saying, "This one has too much peoples'" When I asked him more, I figured out he meant there was too much text (i.e. big peoples' writing) on each page. At one point he said, "Mama, this book is all peoples'! There's no pictures. That's just weird!" Stupid Nanawrimo keeps sticking its head up. I didn't think I'd be up for t, but the darn thing keeps composing in my head. I haven't even got last year's novel to the agent, yet! Phew....that's the most I've been able to type in ages. Guess I'd better stop for awhile. Thanks, again, to ALL of you. What a great bunch of friends! luvyakat |

Well, I held the bossiness in for DAYS, screw that! :~) ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Big Mick Date: 29 Oct 07 - 04:42 PM The side that kat doesn't live on. ***chuckle*** You'd have to have visited kat to know she lives on the western slope. One of the most majestic drives in the United States is I70 west from the summit (Eisehower Tunnel) down through Glenwood Springs. Breathtaking in places. Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Little Hawk Date: 29 Oct 07 - 04:35 PM Which side is the wrong side of the Rockies? Hmm. Perhaps we need a thread about that? ;-) Sounds like you're somewhat on the mend, Kat, and that's good to hear! |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Big Mick Date: 29 Oct 07 - 04:31 PM I am very pleased that our Kat didn't tie her recovery to that upstart bunch of yahoo's on the wrong side of the Rockies. What gall, to think they could stand in the van with my beloved Red Sox. Brash, that lot!!!! ......I should have took that damn bet and made That friggin Lonesome EJ wear a dress with the Red Sox logo emblazoned on it. Could have got myself some decent bourbon too. Shit. Get well, Kat. I am concerned that Morgan is dancing around trying to play all those instruments with no decent guidance. Next thing you know, he'll be buskin' on corners, hangin' with inappropriate people, and callin' himself a musician. Love, Mick |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 29 Oct 07 - 12:19 AM One more before I go to bed and this is esp. to Art, because it was HIS voice I heard in my head. I was nothing but negative, couldn't eat, sleep, relax, walk, stop coughing etc., etc. I had Art's Cowboy Barbara Allen going through my head when she says, "Yes, I'm sick, I'm very sick, I never shall get better. Young William died for me, today, I'm going to die for him tomorrow." Well, that's the way I felt, BUT I knew I had to turn it around, so finally I HEARD Art singing in my head, "Yes, I'm well, I'm very well, I know that I'm much better. Roger's taken good care of me, I'll care for him tomorrow!" G'night all. Poor Rockies. luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Jeri Date: 28 Oct 07 - 10:46 PM Tami - TRAITOR! Glad to see Kat's doing better than the Rockies. Looks like it will be a 4 game series and Mick should have made that bet with LEJ. I have to go to bed before it's over. 4-0 in the stretchy part of the 7th inning. Kat, I'm so glad to see your post. Now, just take care of yourself - or let Rog do that. |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: JennyO Date: 28 Oct 07 - 09:38 PM Haven't been spending much time on Mudcat lately, but this thread jumped out at me. Kat, you are one of my favourite people here, and I am much relieved to hear you are on the mend now. Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: katlaughing Date: 28 Oct 07 - 09:04 PM My Dearest Friends, This is one helluva place, ya know that? I am up and out of bed for any real length of time for the first time in over two weeks and it feels good, weak, but good. How could I not after reading all of your lovely thoughts and good wishes? I love you all and will try to get back to you each, personally, over the next week or so. I've had quite enough pee-new-moan-ee-ah, thank you, very much, but i know I have to give it time to take its leave. I wasn't doing too badly until the ER doc raised the heart attack spectre, then I took leave of my senses. Thank goodness they checked with my cardio guy and we put that to rest. I am so touched by what you have all said, esp. your notes about my writing. I don't feel I've been doing enough of that lately and it looks as though I may have to sit out NaNoWriMo this year as it starts in a few days, but with your kind words, maybe I'll get inspired. OH, and I have the best new boss! I have been very worried he might think he hired a dud 'cause i've only worked two weeks, then took to m'bed. He has used humour and good grace to reassure me and tell me to take my time in healing. I have had severe Morgan withdrawal pains; I hope to remedy that with at least a hug, tomorrow. I haven't had him in my arms for over two weeks! Rog and I get our pink eyes rechecked tomorrow and my lungs and we'll go from there. Last week was a real fiasco with the health care system. I'll have to tell you about it. In the meantime, please know I am wrapping all of your love and good thoughts around me and taking them off to m'bed for a hopeful night's rest after the Rockies win tonight's game! First time I've watched tv in two weeks, too! I love and thank you, all, so very, very much, katnolongerdownforthecount:-)with Special thanks to Albadarlin'...:-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: wysiwyg Date: 27 Oct 07 - 09:42 PM Thanks be to God! Hardi WAS struggling about tomorrow's sermon, and now he has it! :~) Tonight we could hardly get through the Halloween crowd to get to church to do the Sat. night service. Shouldda looked for the nun! Instead we got a slim young girl in a red satin devil dress, with bright red satin devil horns peeking out of her baby-blonde hair. Gotta admit, she sure was cute. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Oct 07 - 09:36 PM A cabbie picks up a Nun... She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you." She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive." "Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me." She responds,"Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic." The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic!" "OK" the nun says. "Pull into the next alley." The nun fulfills his fantasy , with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My dear child," says the nun, "why are you crying?" "Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish." The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween party." |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Oct 07 - 12:25 PM I waited to post until there was an update to respond to. I'm glad they've been able to isolate the problem to just pneumonia. That's bad enough! Hospitals are no place for sick people, so get home as soon as is reasonable. Have Rog roll out the barcalounger if you need to sleep propped up. Add your Mmario shawl and a printout of this thread to the chair and keep mending! I wonder if any of the hot chili recipes we were discussing earlier this year would help? Does a good capsaicin singe help clear out those bad germs, d'you think? How about chocolate? Is there anything we can send that will help the healing process? The Giant Squid offered a hug, but maybe he and Wesley could work on providing some lime jello? Oh, by the way, though his entry was deleted, I think in his own special way, Gargoyle was actually offering good wishes and hoping you'd get well. He just has such an odd turn of phrase at times that it all seems repugnant. I think he actually respects his old adversary. For what it's worth. :) mouse over below for hidden text Any extra Secret Santa activity contemplated, ala Alaska Mike's episode? Tasty healthy tidbits, good book to read, therapeutic music CD? If this thread is printed for Kat to read she won't see the white text. Just a thought! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: wysiwyg Date: 27 Oct 07 - 11:56 AM Can I request now that a new update thread be started when the next significant update comes? The heart problem is not so as Jude said, that's not to worry......However, she has full blown pneumonia and that will take awhile to get over. BTW......Anyone past 50 with even a moderate health problem should look into a pneumonia shot. Much like a flu shot but good for 5-7 years. Pneumonia can significantly weaken an already compromised body so think about it and then get one! All great thought her way from me and let's keep 'em coming. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Alba Date: 26 Oct 07 - 05:32 PM Ok the GOOD NEWS, Kat's own Cardiologist has been in and had a look and he is sure that what has shown up is old 'heart related' stuff, not recent. (I can't explain more as I do not know any more than this for now) So it looks like the mild attack is off the page. BRILLIANT! The Pneumonia has been confirmed and the Antibiotic treatment is underway although I believe that if the Cardiologist gives Kat's Heart the big 'OK' there is little chance of them being able to keep Her in a Hospital.!! As I get more info I shall pass it on. Thanks to Everyone, I will let her know via Rog that she has you all with her. *grateful smile* A lotof you already know this but for those who don't I have to say it is an amazing healing energy to know that people care about you...this is something that Mudcatters are experts at...Giving and Caring. Love to You All Jude xx |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: wysiwyg Date: 26 Oct 07 - 04:20 PM Kat's preference in prayer always seems to be one of gratefulness for the greatest good for all concerned. So that's what I'm praying, for Kat-- gratefulness for relaxed, confident peace over all concerned-- family, docs, friends, her grandson Morgan, and of course Kat herself. This present distraction-- it's just another step in the journey. ~Susan |

Subject: BS: Healing thoughts for Katlaughing From: Alba Date: 26 Oct 07 - 03:59 PM Don't like having to post about illness but it is important that I do so that y'all know what is happening and get that Mudcat Mojo working. Our Katlaughing isn't too well. I don't know too much yet. The Doctors seem to think that Kat may have had a mild heart attack. She does, for sure, have full blown Pneumonia. She is in Hospital and is on an IV of antibiotics and now it is just a matter of wait and see what the Docs say. Rog is going to call me this evening with the results of tests ect. Please send all positive healing thoughts and prayers her way. As soon as I know more I will let you all know. Love ya Kat ma Darlin. Sending you bucket loads of Strength and Healing Light and Love. I am holding your Heart in mine... We shall have you back ' In the Pink ' ASAP! Love and Light to All A worried, Jude xx |
