Indeed, a majority of verbal attacks launched by people probably reflect more upon the source than they do upon the target...meaning they are projections of some inner pyschological problem the source is carrying, but not acknowledging.

That's why most advanced spiritual and psychological systems involve self-analysis and a healthy measure of self-criticism, as opposed to constantly criticizing and blaming others.

I could quote specific passages out of the New Testament or the Buddhist teachings, or Vedanta, or Taoism along that line...but I don't think I'll bother to. ;-) Look 'em up yourself.

I have this little tiny desperate hope that Obama isn't disingenous and dishonest like virtually all the other politicians who run for president or for other high positions in the government...

But it's just a tiny hope I have. I figure it's a slim chance. Better than no chance at all.

I have no hope whatsoever that McCain and Clinton are not disingenous and dishonest.

Furthermore, I know one thing. EVERY politician who runs for president is FORCED to be disingenuous and dishonest to a great extent while they are campaigning, and probably after they are elected. They are forced to pose for the public and the media. They are forced to say the things that are considered acceptable, and avoid saying what no one wants to hear.

That's because if they were totally honest and told the truth about everything there would be a public meltdown, a collective nervous breakdown, the great danger of a violent revolution, and the people really in charge behind the scenes in the $ySStem would kill such a politician who had the guts and honesty to do that. And they'd do it with very little hesitation or delay. And it would look like some lone maniac did it.

So, of COURSE Obama is being disingenuous to some extent. He can't NOT be disingenuous when he's running for high political office in the USA.

It is required of all Democratic and Republican candidates to be systematically disingenous and dishonest...or pay the price: political and professional suicide.

If we were living in genuinely free societies, that would not be the case...but we are not. We have all been socially conditioned from the time we were toddlers to be about 99% compliant in consenting to our own mental slavery...and that of those around us.

We are simply considered to be "consumers". As long as we keep spending enough money and buying enough stuff, we are considered of some value to the $ySStem. At such time as we have no further ability to spend money and buy stuff...or no inclination to...we are considered worthless and wholly expendable.

Nothing can change that except a revolution. There are many possible forms of revolution. They don't all involve guns and violence, but they do all involve a majority of the people in a society saying, "No, I will not do that anymore, and you can't make me."

Bobert, if you're looking for your old file, there was a thread awhile back that has links to were you send your request. I sent in mine, to probably 12 different security departments. I would never had believe how many & who they were up until then. You've got the FBI (apply to the different states that youmight think had files on you plus to HQ, the CIA, NSA, dept of defense & security & state then about 5 or 6 others that I just can't remember the names t. I wasn't on any of their lists dating back to the 60's but I don't know nor do I trust them to tell the truth & it's bnot that important to me to file for a deeper investigation which would most likely raise a red flag & then they'd start a new file on me.

As far as McCain, he's always voted in the past for war or some sort of military solution, he doesn't see 100 yrs in Iraq, if need be, a problem when the rest of the world see the next yr there as a problem, he's what you see & he's what you'll get if he gets in. He won't be a lacky for necocons, but whe will be their poster child.

I have never thought he is ignorant, just a predictable product of his military background and upbringing (his daddy's daddy, his time as a Vietnam POW, The Surge (soon to be a Hollywood Musical).

That actually makes him quite authentically himself to voters, in the same way Clinton, despite her "high negatives" on personality polling, is also authentically herself: the woman who sat on the lap of the man seated on the throne of power, is authentically herself.

The only candidate of the three who isn't authentically themself is Obama.

One can't connect who is to his policy stands. That will work against him in the general election, especially when the other half of the voters wake up and see the Wright videos, which haven't hurt him among Dems.

It will definitely hurt Obama among general election voters, just as soon as they start paying attention to the race, sometime in October of this year.

I've decided that McCain is ignorant. He can only see military solutions to world problems. What he (and others) are overlooking is that the biggest threat facing economic stability in our world today is the rice shortage. If the developing nations cannot get enough rice to feed their populations, there will be widespread civil unreast. Its doubtful if McCain's bullets will be able to feed the hungry.

This is an issue that should be addressed by the candidates but al Qaeda, insurgents and Iran (Muslims in general) are easy to target. World hunger is the real enemy.

Hey, I knew it... I have a photograph of the two FBI agents who were assigned to the anti-war folks in Richmond... They made no bones about who they were and considered me to be a somewaht cooperative radical 'cause I didn't mind talkin' with them about what the plans were for various demonstrations... They knew where I lived and weren't shy about knockin' on my door if they had concerns...

Looking back, it's kinda funny... These guys were so conspicious and everyone knew they were our "two stooges" but they were purdy much harmless... I mean, so harmless that we took a picture of them at one ralley and did a little 60's "photoshop" and printed a picture of them in out underground paper sittin' on a big hog... I still have a copy of that somewhere...

She didn't know it was happening at the time...she only knew she couldn't get any radio airplay in North America any longer, despite the many enthusiastic fans who were coming to her live shows. She basically had to shift her marketing efforts to Europe and the Far East in order to keep her career viable...she was not being blacklisted there...only in the USA...and in Canada (!). Apparently the long arm of the US government was able to reach the Canadian broadcasters although they had no legal right to do so.

This wasn't a one-time thing. He's been doing this rather consistently. At first I figured it was just that the Republican party machine seems to prefer candidates with a tenuous grasp on reality, and now that McCain appears to be losing his grasp on reality, this is why they are now embracing him. But since he's been doing it so much, I think maybe he's just lying.

There's a big difference between McCain and Bush. McCain has character.

Ha! No kidding. My guess is that the Republican machinery's estimate of the general awareness level out there in middle America isn't too far off in that respect.

You can depend on this: Every major candidate in the USA, Republican or otherwise, anyone who has any REAL chance of being elected, will continue to talk tough about fighting the War on Terror and about "supporting our military", and will continue to pretend the USA is saving the world from radical Islam. They wouldn't dare NOT say so, they wouldn't dare admit that the USA itself has made the bed it's presently sleeping in, because if they didn't sound the usual pro-military rhetoric, their political opponents would have them dead in their sights...and their major sources of corporate funding would cut the purse strings.

It's Clint Eastwood and John Wayne psychology in Middle America, and it always has been. There are supposedly always some terribly Un-American bad guys out there somewhere in the world in distant impoverished countries threatening our entire western civilization....trying to destroy our freedoms. Oh yeah. And they talk funny, and they have swarthy skin and mustaches, and they have dark and terrible plans to enslave us all. They must be stopped.

It's absolute BS from the word go. It's the wolf yelling to the pack, "Those sheep and goats mean to kill us all!"   But they will all keep saying it till hell freezes over. They wouldn't dare not to.

More of a Senior moment than anything. We all have them as we get older. And in most cases when we are young too, we just call them something else. Even with that McCain would be an enormous improvement on the present pathetic White House resident.

But not someone you'd really want to be "Commander in Chief". Being a lot better than Bush shouldn't in itself be seen as an adequate qualification for any kind of responsible job.

He has repeated this same misinformation now 4 times in two days...

Yestereday, his bud Joe Lieberman grabbed his arm, whispered something in his ear and then McWar corrected himself but...
