Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: Ebbie Date: 22 Jul 08 - 11:48 AM The funny thing to me is that during the infamous act, I and family were playing games at a card table while Super Bowl halftime played in the background. We never even found out about it! |

Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: Bill D Date: 21 Jul 08 - 06:38 PM I think it is beyond funny that ½ second of nipple exposure got this much attention. Last night on a documentary of customs of a tribe in Sudan, I saw prolonged exposure of the breasts of many young women. No one is protesting..... If that silly incident had gotten no press, we'd all be better off. |

Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: Amos Date: 21 Jul 08 - 01:48 PM Well, I think it should be protected as a religious act, myself. As a Charter Member of the Temple of the Golden Globes, I am always on the lookout for encroachment against such religious freedoms; it's about time those anti-religious freaks at the FCC were thoroughly busted, so to speak. They were getting entirely too top-heavy, especially since they are more involved with wireless systems. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: frogprince Date: 21 Jul 08 - 01:06 PM Stills of this are (at least were) readily available; she had a decorative "applique" thingie surrounding the exposed nipple. How anyone claims to know one way or the other about the other boob, beats me. Everything indicates it was staged, with no reason for the network to suspect it was coming. It was stupid, tasteless, it didn't harm or have any real consequences to a living soul, and fining the network for it was idiocy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 21 Jul 08 - 10:10 AM "This act was planned and rehearsed. It was part of the show. " I can tell you for a fact, that this was not rehearsed by MTV and the only plan was between the performers and they did not tell anyone what they were planning. As for the federal appeals court decision, all I can say it - it is about fucking time!!! The FCC has become a dangerous force in this country and their reign of terror needs to be halted. With all the issues facing this country, the attacks on freedom of speech have been largely unnoticed. The FCC created an atmosphere that can only be likened to the McCarthy era. Time to wake up America!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: pdq Date: 21 Jul 08 - 09:49 AM "...when are they going to arrest Timberlake for assault and battery?" This act was planned and rehearsed. It was part of the show. She had something covering the nipple on the one side only because it would be exposed. As a libertarian, I agree that the fine was strange, since what we have here is bad taste. If the FCC could fine people for bad taste, half the shows on TV would dissappear. (Er, well, maybe that isn't such a bad idea!) |

Subject: BS: Court tosses 'wardrobe' fine From: Rapparee Date: 21 Jul 08 - 09:37 AM PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A federal appeals court on Monday threw out a $550,000 indecency fine against CBS Corp. for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson's breast-baring "wardrobe malfunction." The three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Federal Communications Commission "acted arbitrarily and capriciously" in issuing the fine for the fleeting image of nudity. That's okay with me -- but when are they going to arrest Timberlake for assault and battery? And why are we more concerned with nudity than the violence that caused it? |
