Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: leeneia Date: 27 May 16 - 11:01 AM Good one, beeliner. Nice try, Donuel, but the tab is not sewn on the bottom. The small bag would drop right out. But wait, I think Freddy Headey has nailed it. It's a rod holder. http://www.rjroberts.com/Columbia-Long-Sleeve-Fishing-Shirt_p_228.html Who'd a thunk it? The shirts seem so work-a-day, perfect for shop or truck. (I'm afraid to ask what a zinger is.) ============== The shirts are for me. I find that men's clothes are better made and last longer than women's. I also like pockets for travelling. (Put your driver's license and boarding pass in the pocket, press down the Velcro, get in the security line knowing where everything is.) Of course I am replacing the ugly, speckled male buttons, and I will add a pretty necklace to soften the effect. Still, some of the colors are pretty drab. But good for bird-watching, I guess. I'm going to the Texas Toot, a great week of early music. Maybe I can use the funny little tab to hold a recorder swab. |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: FreddyHeadey Date: 26 May 16 - 05:53 PM On this Columbia shirt "...Rod holder loop on the left chest...." http://www.rjroberts.com/Columbia-Long-Sleeve-Fishing-Shirt_p_228.html And a longer description here " EagleFordEarl. 6:32a, 5/12/11 Rod holder when wading, butt of rod goes in your shorts pocket and rod gets velcro'd in at your chest, keeps you from dewshing your reel in salt water more than you have to." http://texags.com/forums/34/topics/1838379 On another page [ http://www.uttings.co.uk/p116377-greys-strata-fishing-shirt-brown]for a similar shirt it says " Tooltab Clip or pin your zinger and other tool attachments to the discreet tab when you're fishing. Easily remove when you're not. Simple." |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: JennieG Date: 26 May 16 - 01:07 AM Just be careful, when tearing off the no-longer-velcroed shirt, that no body parts stick to the aforementioned velcro. Getting one's nips caught in velcro could be excruciating. |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: Rapparee Date: 25 May 16 - 10:17 PM Name badges can also come with magnetic holders, clips, pins, and several other things that fasten them to your clothing (or body, if you're into that). |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 25 May 16 - 06:35 PM It's a subtle way for Wrangler to introduce the idea of Velcro into the very tradition-bound non-Velcro-friendly work shirt market. Start out by using Velcro for something utterly useless and, if nobody complains, before long they'll be replacing all the buttons and snaps with Velcro. If you don't want that to happen, if you don't want your shirts to say "Geezer who can no longer work buttons", tear the thing off, take a photo, and send it to Wrangler with a "Just say NO to Velcro!" caption. It's a slippery slope! |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: Mr Red Date: 25 May 16 - 06:08 PM A picture would help Maybe it was a custom variation and these were the samples. Maybe a batch that were contrary to requirements. Or production overrun. Namebadge would fit the position. |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: Jack Campin Date: 25 May 16 - 05:03 PM It's for guys who really like girls with nipple piercings. The velcro loosely holds a fridge magnet with your contact details engraved on it as a QR code. When you get close enough to an appropriately enhanced breast, it pulls off and she can look you up later. |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: leeneia Date: 25 May 16 - 04:14 PM I remain baffled. Name badges are adhesive, come on a cord, or have a safety pin in the back. None of them call for a little tab over the pocket. The Sheplers' ad shows the tab, but all it does is hold the maker's label. (If I owned that shirt, the first thing I would do is remove that label.) BWL's conversation starter idea is in the realm of the possible but not the probable. |

Subject: RE: BS: male shirt puzzle From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 25 May 16 - 12:07 PM It's a conversation starter. One possible conversation starts, "Hey handsome! Why don't you buy me a drink and tell me what that cute little flap on your shirt's for." Another starts, "Hey doofus! What's that on your shirt? I don't like the looks of it and I don't like the looks of your face either!" Wear with caution! |

Subject: BS: male shirt puzzle From: leeneia Date: 25 May 16 - 11:20 AM On Sunday I bought a Wrangler men's workshirt. It has chest pockets with flaps, and above one pocket is a mysterious tab. The tab is 2 3/4" by 3/4", and it lies horizontally about 1" above the pocket. There is a small square of Velcro at the inner end. The DH and I are completely baffled by this tab. It doesn't hold a pencil or a cell phone. You can't use it to guide something into the pocket. What is it for? |
