I have heard his version of Maggie sung to he same tune as When You And I Were Young Maggie. I have also heard the lyrics intermingled. Both version are great.

It scans to the tune and the chords fit roughly.

I haven't heard the album. The words are not When You and I Were Young--are you sure it's the same tune, snuffy? (Just asking, not quibbling ;)

It's in the DT with a tune - look for 'When You and I were Young, Maggie'. I only found that out after I'd done an abc and a midi of it to send to the missing tunes thread

I have a sad task this weekend. A friend's niece is dying, and her family wants to do the song "Maggie" as recorded by the band de Danaan at her funeral. I've got the music down for them, but I can't understand the words of the second verse. Can anyone help? There's something about "A golden row" and then there's another line about birds.

The album is by the de Danaan All Stars and the title of the album is "Star-Spangled Molly."

Any help would be much appreciated.
