Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: theleveller Date: 30 Oct 09 - 05:06 AM The problem that anyone has who wants to investigate the history of The Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, to give them their full name, is, undoubtedly, to separate the facts from the myths. The facts are that they became a large and powerful organization, that they owed allegiance not to kings or church hierarchies, but directly to the Pope (which, of course, gave rise to many disputes), that they were international bankers with great wealth (although, as their name suggests, they swore personal vows of poverty being, in fact, soldier monks), that they had a special knowledge of architectural techniques that meant they were instrumental in the building as well as the financing of many of Europe's greatest cathedrals and that, starting in France, they were suddenly and dramatically disbanded at the instigation of Philip IV of France on Friday 13 October 1307 (supposedly the reason why Friday 13 is unlucky). The biggest mystery is what happened to their portable wealth and possession. This disappeared, together with the huge Templar fleet, literally overnight. No time to bury it or build a network of secret tunnels, so the most likely explanation would seem to be that it was loaded onto the ships and they sailed off for a place or places unknown. The rest is speculation. There are several organisations that claim to be the modern desendants of the Templars. Here are a couple: http://www.templars.org.uk/ http://www.knightstemplar-uk.co.uk/ark.htm |

Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: Bill D Date: 29 Oct 09 - 05:26 PM The Oak Island diggings are a great mystery....as in, how could someone many years ago have created the system in the first place, when we with our modern techniques can't get to it? If it was treasure, and was booby-trapped, how did the planners expect to recover what they buried? |

Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: Don Firth Date: 29 Oct 09 - 03:07 PM Back in the mists of antiquity (late 1940s when I was in high school), I ran across a mass-market paperback entitled "Doubloons!" Can't remember the author's name. It had a dozen or so accounts of myths and actualities about buried treasure. Quite well researched and strove to stick to the facts rather than tout the myths. Fascinating little book! One of the sections dealt with the Oak Island "treasure pit." It went through the various theories of who might have put it there (didn't mention the Knights Templars; that idea seems to be a "Johnnie come lately"). Among other things, it said that one of the drill bits came up with a big clod of mud stuck to it, and the clod contained a small bit of gold chain. An archeologist examined it and maintained that it was a bit of Norse jewelry. Viking treasure? Maybe been there since before Columbus? Hmm. . . ? Don Firth |

I actually posted it for the benefit of our American cousins. I have no knowledge as to whether there is any truth in it or not, but you obviously do since you have dismissed it out of hand. Perhaps you'd be good enough to enlighten the rest of us - it would certainly be interesting to know where you have got your information from. My interest in the Templars is a purely historical and factual one, based on their presence in the area where I live. There's enough there of interest to keep me going for a long time. |

The bit about the carvings in Rosslyn Chapel can be easily explained a number of ways. Particularly liked the bit about the Knights Templar fighting for the Scots and winning the Battle of Bannockburn by riding into the fray at a crucial moment - complete and utter load of bollocks but a good laugh none-the-less. By the bye - What lost the Battle of Bannockburn for the English was rank bad Generalship. |

Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: Don Firth Date: 27 Oct 09 - 10:13 PM Yeah, a great deal of this sort of thing of late. Think! Is it really conceivable that the Arc of the Covenant has actually survived somewhere for several millennia? If it ever existed in the first place? Same thing for the Holy Grail. It's just a cup, for heaven sake! When and if one finds it, how is one to know that this is indeed the cup that Jesus drank from during the last supper? I seriously doubt that it's marked as such, like a cup you might buy at Starbucks. The History Channel frequently runs stuff about this sort of thing. Along with the enigmatic predictions of Nostradamus and all the colorful ways the earth is going to come to an end on December 21st, 2012 (this is history!??) You can get lots of this stuff just by turning on the television and switching to the Goofball Channel. Seattle has a lot a underground tunnels. In fact, they conduct guided tours. Could it be that this is where the Knights Templars came when they skipped out of Europe? Don Firth |

The recording studio (and Robin's home) is a converted church directly on the site of the Templars' HQ and which is probably built with stones from it. Perhaps the secret of running a successful folk business is to start with a tunnel full of gold and pay due respect to the Baphomet in your basement. |

Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: theleveller Date: 27 Oct 09 - 07:58 AM There was a large Templar presence in Yorkshire, especially around the area of East Yorkshire where I live, as is shown by village names such as Temple Hirst and Temple Newsham. The now tiny village of Faxfleet, on the banks of the Humber, was once a major Templar port that was, at the time, bigger than Hull. It is inevitable that legends should have grown up because, at the time of their suppression, they had vast wealth and acted as international bankers to monarchs and countries and, when they were suppressed, this wealth vanished overnight along with property deeds and the whole of the Templar fleet. There is relatively little evidence left of their existence, except in the place names and the presence of the distinctive Templar cross on churches, some of which were built with on a circular plan. I have heard of rumours that some kind of Templar organisation still exists in the area where I live and that there a clues to the whereabouts of the treasure built into the landscape but I've never come across any evidence of this nor, as far as I'm aware, have other researchers who have done detailed investigations. There is, however, a effigy of a supposed Knight Templar in Kirby Fleetham church, so maybe Banjiman knows something we don't!!!!! Anyone who wants more info. can read 'The Knights Templar in Yorkshire' by Diane Holloway and Trish Colton. |

Subject: RE: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: GUEST,Max Tyler Date: 27 Oct 09 - 03:39 AM It could very well be that there ARE tunnels under Hertford and that they DO belong to the Knights Templar. It's almost funny how they manage to weasle their way into every legend and story possible! LOL!! However, I have my doubts about the KT possessing the Holy Grail. The KT were charged with so many WRONG things. If nothing more, they were monks who FOUGHT. Jesus never commanded his followers to fight. In fact, He told them quite the opposite! It would seem ironic for the KT to guard the sacred cup. Also, after their demise they are said to have founded either the Masons or the Illuminati. Both groups are very antichrist to say the least. Take a look at the way a Masonic building is constructed. The mix in demons with supposed Christian statues. It's a conspiracy!! The Masons are out to illiminate Christians around the world. Not mix with them. And if the Knights Templar were the forefathers of the Masons, I strongly disbelieve that they'd guard the cup of Jesus Christ. |

Subject: BS: Templar Treasure Tunnels Found From: GUEST,Hertford Templar Tunneller Date: 11 Oct 04 - 12:26 PM Here is a fascinating news story about Templars, tunnels and treasure, which has been reported in the Hertfordshire Mercury newspaper in England. http://www.herts-essex-news.co.uk/mercury/news/story.asp?id=159459 People have for centuries been searching in Hertfordshire for the missing treasure believed to have vanished from locations including Temple Dinsley in Hertfordshire when the Knights Templar were disbanded in 1307: " ... a significant part of the demise of the English Knights Templar in the 13th Century, took place in Hertfordshire under the orders of King Edward II." (Page 1) "Scores of the Templars managed to evade arrest and went into hiding and in doing so, they had to hide most of their wealth which had been ammassed from their forays in the Holy Land." (Page 3) http://www.bbc.co.uk/legacies/myths_legends/england/beds_herts_bucks/article_1.shtml (The Templars were also the pioneers of international banking: the bankers of kings and of nations.) A massive labyrinth of ancient and (until now) secret underground passages, built by the Knights Templar and linked to the Holy grail, has been found in the historic town of Hertford in South-East England, not far from the site of the major Templar preceptory, of Temple Dinsley. Incredibly, most of the labyrinth remains hidden along with its secrets. It is possible that parts of the underground network are still in use by the Knights Templar. Informers claiming links to the original Templars - who are said still to be operational in Hertford - notified the Hertfordshire Mercury newspaper. The paper was unable to publish all the information because it includes secret underground routes to several bank vaults! (This is all the more intriguing given the Templars' historic connections to banking, treasure and secret excavations.) Temple Dinsley and the surrounding area has been a focus for treasure hunters, including king Edward III, as well as people on their own quest to find the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant, which many people believe to be in the care of the Templars. When the Templars dissolved, most of the Order vanished along with their unparalleled hoard of treasure and religious/esoteric knowledge. Many people believe that the Templars discovered the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail and hid these somewhere in the UK. Until now, many people have sought to excavate various places, including Scotland's Rosslyn Chapel and various sites in Hertfordshire, to look for these items. A Royal Commission, set up in 1309, "to inquire touching concealed goods of the Templars in the County of Hertfordshire", found none of the gold, treasure or jewels believed to have been hidden by the Templars. Neither did the two men granted a patent to dig for treasure at Temple Dinsley by Edward III on condition that the Crown took half the spoil. No trace of the treasure, or the Ark of the Covenant, or the Holy Grail has yet been found. The Templars and the mysteries surrounding them have gained much publicity in recent times, especially in the wake of several sensational books including "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" and "The Da Vinci Code." But until now Hertford has escaped the attention of pilgrims and treasure hunters. Could the treasure, the Grail, the Ark, or all of these, be in Hertfordshire's County Town? The Hertfordshire Mercury newspaper thinks it's possible and a growing number of people agree. Hertford's underground Templar labyrinth could soon provide the first evidence for the popular idea that the Templars, who officially ceased to exist on Friday 13th October 1307, actually evolved into a secret organisation, operating underground - both metaphorically and literally - in England. Photographs of two different parts of the tunnel network published in the Mercury prove that at least two tunnels do indeed exist. The leading local historian questioned by the paper, however, did not know anything about these tunnels. But the historian did know about one tunnel, making three at least. The historian said that even the one tunnel they knew about was supposed to be secret and may once have been used by Judges. (The British legal system is based at Temple Bar, at the modern main Templar Temple in Central London, opposite the Royal Courts of Justice.) This is a fascinating story. It may only be the first taste of a greater story that could have profound repercussions for Judaism and Christianity, for historians and for treasure hunters throughout the world. |
