The recent downtime of mudcat was several hours judging by the last posts before, and the resumption of new posts. The rather significant diffence between the number of "top" and "BS" posts that returned should tell us something about differences in the regional distribution of the most prolific posters for the two sets. The 'cat went down fairly late in the evening, when "sensible" BS participants might have retired (unfortunately, those are a small sample?) and came back up possibly at a peak time** for Euro areas. (I haven't looked carefully at the time zones most likely, and probably won't this time.)

** Prior observations have shown that the biggest "hump," if the frequency of posts is considered, generally is at about the time Londoners would be arriving at work and have the perhaps more powerful office computers at their disposal and nothing much else to do. There's often a lull when one might expect they slip out of the office to go for the morning brew in the same time zone. No statistical analyses to indicate correlation reliabilities have been done, however.

The "Aussie bump" seems possibly correlated to when they arrive home from the evening pub, but the sample is quite small so that hump is barely visible most days. Correlation with changes in coherence by time of day has been suggested as a distinguishing feature, but would require fairly sophisticated study, and likely would not reveal much about the Aussies, since they seem pretty consistently incoherent (to the rest of us) all the time.

The US spans too wide a range of time zones to identify specific peaks in postings. Those attributable to USers are more of a random splatter not suggestive of any useful curve.

I haven't smoked in 15 years, not that I don't want to.

But being dyslexic from day 1 has made all my perceptions overwhelmingly geometric in nature and has coalesed into a very real cosmological construct over the last few months that satisfies many questions regarding dark energy/M.
I am not delusional about this model I have mentioned. I realize I am mathmaticly illterate and am but a speck, an unimportant person and insignificant in any acknowledged cosmological achievment.

But so far the damn thing works as a thought experiment that accounts for our gravity, "its gravity" and the accelerating expansion , which is not a repulsive force but actually so omnipresent that most of it does its "pulling" from the bulk of the universe which has no center but a very large surface.

Also the acceleration of space time opens the door not just to black holes or entropy but a unique ability to communicate with the past as a real active reality. With technology the same is true of the future within certain limits of hundreds to thousands of years.

Metaphoricly speaking...
To make a "Time Phone" work, one must first physically place the twins of many quantum duality particles at a location in which you want to communicate in time. In a way its like having to build the telpone lines first but without space warp travel it would limit the distance into the past or future communication to months or years instead of centuries and millenium.
Sorry its not like you could walk around in the past and look over Beethoven's shoulder. It works more like a telegraph than a time machine.

Opps I digress, but I do have a cogent presentation that is every bit as simple and compelling to novices and advanced cosmologists alike. IF there is a fundamental flaw, at least it has been fun.

As I heard it from some trusted people, Spaw got outrageous and talked the way he does and the thread deteriorated in quick order. He was banished for a day to the BS section which didn't exist, so Pene, Joe and Max started it. Thus the term BS--or Below the Salt. Trust me on this, Eliza. That's the way it was.

One could easily enhance the BS section to further reflect society as a wholw, media and the socio economics of the world by creating a   TWO TIERED   system whereby 1% of the BS section will be exclusively posts by Amos, Rap, Little Hawk, catspaw, Bobert, gnu, Sandra, kat, Tam, Ebbie and the three Johns. Probationary members of the 1% will be named in the fullness of time.

The 99% of all other; infrequent posters, toadies, disbelieved, hangers on, neer do wells and the downright peculiar
will be allowed to post in their own BS2 section exckusively where they may praise the 1% AND/OR create pro ethnic and pro sectarian subdivisions within the BS2 section.

The pro ethnic and pro sectarian sections will actually serve Anti sect and anti ethnic groups such as the BS mudcat Bund, Mother of everything anti American, anti Irish threads and further subdivisions right down the line until each individual has their very own BS section in which they are in total agreement, except when a person wishes to disagree with themselves.

The upper 1% of the privileged BS section will resemble broadcast news in which polls may be cited about the 99% but decisions based upon verified rumor will be done via Private Messages. The ability to edit, expand or delete BS1 posts will remain sacrosanct.

Grounds for reprimanding contributors of the BS1 section will include;
Not taking the loyalty oath.
Refusal to site one's source.
Not attending at least one getaway every 4 years.

NO removal or banning of members of the BS2 is needed since the sensibilities of the 1% are protected by permanently filtering out any poster in the BS2 section with one click. In two cases BS2 members continued to post for over 7 years, despite the fact of being completely and uniformly filtered. These 2 individuals only saw a cached version which seemed to include their own posts but was actually unseen by loyal members. The 1% compassionately reserves the right to use such methods for specific posters or even the entire BS2 section. (restrictions may be suspended for secret santa threads or fund drives for the 1%)

"Latter" is only used if there are two choices. If there are more than two "last" should be used. E.g.,

Of the green and red, I'd choose the latter.

Of the green, red, pink, and blue, I'd choose the last.
