Subject: Tune Req: The little beggarman From: Maffet Date: 21 Oct 03 - 09:24 AM Hello, I have one little shy question :-) I play for half of year one my favorite tune which is Little beggerman (Red haired boy)- hornpipe. Original sheet music come from some harp magazine with free arrangement, but my teacher transposed tune for me to C. Now I haven't original print, so I dont know in which key it was and I have only hand written tune, which I really love to play. I searched in www.thesession.org, but there I found only reel tune of the same name. So I searched at another place and I have found another sheet music for hornpipe in D for little beggarman, and few sounds to compare. It has the same beginning, but the second part is diffrent again. Is there any other version of this hornpipe tune? :-) Anyway I printed reel today too as it's really lovely tune. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: The little beggarman From: Mark Cohen Date: 21 Oct 03 - 11:22 PM It's a fun song to sing, too--though the band gets miffed when I ask if they can do it in D, and slow it down just a hair...so I wind up singing it Acapulco. Aloha, Mark |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: The little beggarman From: Maffet Date: 22 Oct 03 - 05:53 AM Gilderoy. 8-) Thank you, thank you. I will print it and compare at home. I am not on the level to imagine music from sheets, even I found some sound sample on internet with gilderoy and it sounds similar. Thank you again. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: The little beggarman From: GUEST,Les B. Date: 22 Oct 03 - 04:17 PM Mark - don't feel bad. I too had to switch "Little Beggerman" from A to D, and slow it down. But it's a great song to sing in that key. For fiddle and mandolin players it's just a matter of moving down a set of strings. More of a problem for guitar and banjo, though ! |
