Subject: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 19 Dec 04 - 03:06 PM We are going down to the Press Room for the Friday Night Session then back to my place for food, champagne and some music. I have room for a few sleepovers. Who's going to Portsmouth and who's coming back to South Portland. Maybe we can coordinate cars. SINS |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 19 Dec 04 - 06:20 PM We're probably up to the party at your house in South Portland, assuming the weather is not too outrageous. Seems like it wouldn't be starting till about 9 pm? Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Leadfingers Date: 19 Dec 04 - 06:32 PM Lovely idea Mary , but I have a gig till Ten which means I wouldn't arrive til WELL into New Years , so I will give it a miss this year . I think there is a reasonable chance of finding a decent party in UK Any way !! |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 20 Dec 04 - 04:25 PM Press Room session ends around 9 p.m. -- another, what, 45-60 minutes to Sinsull's? Curmudgeon and I would LOVE to -- it's not that much further for us to Sinsull's than it is to head west to home. But . . . it entirely depends on the weather, including the temperature (as we heat with wood, so wintertime overnights get tricky and erratic). The cats can cope (even the diabetic one) but they all adamently refuse to bring in firewood or stoke the stove. (They'll sometimes answer the phone but either refuse to take messages or else they deny they know us.) Flamingo weather on New Year's Eve would be just fine . . . Linn |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: The Borchester Echo Date: 20 Dec 04 - 04:41 PM Linn, My cats are exactly like that. Could they be transatlantic cousins? Mary, I'd so love to come (you don't know how much). If I start planning now, maybe I'll make it next year, if the invitation is forthcoming... |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: katlaughing Date: 20 Dec 04 - 05:03 PM I know, if it's on for next year, too (2006), I'll come to the Getaway and work my way North in time for NYE at Sins'!! Or, just go home with her and stay until after the new year.**bg** |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 20 Dec 04 - 09:26 PM Miss Kitty - there is a room with your name on it. Countess, my home is not designed for royalty but if you are willing to slum, the invitation is there. So New Years Eve 2005 at SINSULL's! Who else is up for it? Please specify the year so I have enough champagne to go 'round! |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 27 Dec 04 - 08:34 PM Counting down to the New Year. Please post your name to this thread so I know for sure who's coming. I will PM or email details. Thanks, Mary |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: GUEST Date: 27 Dec 04 - 10:13 PM Don't predict next year's agenda little laugh kitten....anymore than predicting what will grow in the kitchen-garden....be published....or....a weather-underground that develops.
Slugs eat tomatos, brothers/fathers get sick and/or die, Wolf Pass becomes snow-bound...no amount of "good wishes/feelings/tooties" can fore-stall the lessons you will receive from the good=loving=gracious LORD Of ALL who has instore your future.
May you see the LIGHT....and come to redemtion.

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 28 Dec 04 - 07:53 PM I dunno if there'll be black eyed peas or hoppin' john -- but I'll be bringing pickled herring in sour cream sauce. That's the tradition that I came out of. Gotta have herring. Both Curmudgeon and I served apprenticeships (first marriages) to Southerners so we've had a number of years of black eyed peas, etc. Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Pauline L Date: 28 Dec 04 - 08:16 PM Pickled herring in sour cream sauce! Wow, it's been years. I think I'd prefer ice cream, though, for my cough and sore throat. ;-} |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: GutBucketeer Date: 28 Dec 04 - 11:17 PM I'd give my eye teeth to be there Mary! However, I will have to settle for Black Eyed Peas, Cornbread, and Greens here in DC (The inlaws are in town). What a way to turn 50! Have a Merry and a Happy JAB |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 29 Dec 04 - 07:57 AM Not looking good from the West Coast of NH- Maggie and I are still reeling from the Monadnock version of your cold- I think a quick visit to the Nelson contra dance, a hot bath (got the water heater fixed- YAY!) and a toast to my friends in the UK at the time of their midnight, and an early bed- is what I foresee for my new years eve. Wish I lived closer, wish I could just pop in. Hope you two are feeling well enough to enjoy everything! Allison |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: harpgirl Date: 29 Dec 04 - 08:09 AM Go up to Maine in 15 below weather in winter for a mudcatters party??? Are you mad, woman? I'm going to eat oysters and bonfire in Timucuan country in Alachua county....much warmer, deah! |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: CET Date: 29 Dec 04 - 09:28 AM Weather permitting, Charmion and I will be there. Edmund |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 29 Dec 04 - 09:50 AM This is turning into a real party. I have a bed all ready for you Edmund - oh...and Charmion too. I will PM directions. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: MMario Date: 29 Dec 04 - 09:54 AM sOUNDS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE FUN. (D*mn capslock!) I'll be thinking of you guys - I'm meeting up with some of my ren-faire friends - and it will probably end up with a few hours of music - it usually does! |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: curmudgeon Date: 29 Dec 04 - 10:16 AM This is shaping up to be a Major Mudcat Event. I certainly hope you've enough bedrooms for all of us. BTW, Harpgirl, the forecast calls for light rain in the mid 40s with a nightime low of 34, nowhere near -15. I'll be picking up the herrings today to provide some marinating time. See you Friday -- Tom |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 29 Dec 04 - 10:26 AM A bed is reserved for you and Linn too Curmudgeon. Latecomers can have sleeping bags or a spot on the floor with Seamus. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 29 Dec 04 - 12:25 PM I am working on sleeping quarters for others if we need them. SO plan on staying the night if you like. Breakfast will be catch as catch can - that means Linn is making cream cheese and eggs. For reasons I will explain later I have ten pounds of cream cheese in my freezer. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 29 Dec 04 - 12:35 PM Ooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Ten POUNDS of cream cheese!!! Uh, we probably won't need quite that much (but I AM a cream cheese fanatic) -- even if I put "too much" (that's a legitimate unit of measure) cream cheese in the scrambled eggs. (And, uh, "thanks" for drafting me for breakfast duty.) Curmudgeon (yelling frantically in the background) "suggests" that you have enough coffee and toast as well. (He can make the damned coffee!) So, I'm making pickled herring in sour cream sauce AND pickled herring in ice cream for Pauline . . . do I have that right? ;-) Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 29 Dec 04 - 12:49 PM I'll bring the mead! Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charmion Date: 29 Dec 04 - 12:55 PM We had a country ham for Christmas dinner, so I was planning to make a batch of baked beans tonight for future reference. I think I'll bring it along, with a fruitcake for those whose digestions can stand the double strain. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Jeri Date: 29 Dec 04 - 01:15 PM "For reasons I will explain later I have ten pounds of cream cheese in my freezer." Not later. NOW! I don't know. I'm getting over a cold - trying to, anyway. My sinuses are behaving a lot like Cadbury's Creme Eggs, but the filling in those things is runnier. (Yuck - sorry) I just got home from the Great White North (and the traffic jam between Toronto and Cornwall) at 0-tomorrow-thirty last night. Simply thinking about leaving the house again makes me tired. The invention of a matter transporter needs to be made a priority! I'm gonna get a real big scanner And scan myself, that's what I'll do Turn myself into electrons I'm gonna fax myself to you A fax is flatter than I am When I come out, here's what you do Explain to the police what happened I tried to fax myself to you. An e-mailed me might be better But the attachment will be huge, it's true I don't have DSL or cable So I'll just fax myself to you |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 29 Dec 04 - 02:32 PM It was one of those "Senior Moments". A local store had a 10 for $10 sale. I thought you had to buy ten to get the price. Actually ten was the limit. DOH! I also got ten cans of white tuna and ten frozen dinners and...you get the idea. Cream cheese to take home for all who are interested. Toast, coffee, tea, bacon and sausage plus leftovers. Baked beans sounds really good Charmion. We cn throw the fruit cake at the neighbor's dog. Pickled herring was a tradition from my childhood which I prefer to forget but bring it anyway. Pickled ice cream? Your guess is as good as mine. Mead is always welcome. So is Jeri - hope you feel up to it. I will have the usual nibblies and a huge pot of curried chicken to serve over rice, salad, wine, beer, Pepsi, water, and champagne at midnight. Some pastries too. I have a guitar. Pauline has a fiddle. I know we have a squeeze box and a banjo and a piano leg coming. Anything else? Bagpipes, maybe? |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 29 Dec 04 - 04:56 PM Just made the pickled herring in sour cream so it can marinate for a couple days. I cheat in the prep -- buy pickled herring, drain, add lots more onions plus sour cream and seasonings (peppercorns and bay leaves). Bay leaf alert! Those sharp little leaves never sog, so mind 'em and don't eat 'em. Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: GUEST Date: 29 Dec 04 - 11:01 PM what wonderful fun. I'll be there in spirit, and hope you're in sparkling good health, Mary! AND all. Dani |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Pauline L Date: 30 Dec 04 - 01:13 AM I may or may not be at the party. If I vacate my bed, two other people can sleep in it. Happy New Year everyone. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Pauline L Date: 30 Dec 04 - 09:47 PM Unfortunately, something came up and I have to leave a day earlier than planned. I'm sorry I won't be able to meet some of the Mudcatters I only know virtually. I hope you'll drink a toast to everyone's health, and I know you'll all have a good time. Happy new year and best wishes to everyone. Pauline |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 30 Dec 04 - 10:44 PM Someone's sleeping on the floor with me? First I heard of it! Happy New Year anyway. Seamus |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Naemanson Date: 31 Dec 04 - 02:21 AM Wow! That crew and 10 pounds of cream cheese? Be still my beating heart. I wish I could go and escape this tropical hellhole in which I find myself. A person can only stand just so many snorkeling trips to visit fish and the beach sand gets into everything! |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 31 Dec 04 - 10:24 AM Hey, Brett! Can you pickle the fish? Put it in sour cream sauce? (Leave out the sand.) Have someone in the lifeguard chair looking out for bay leaves? Singing! and cream cheese! and Seamus on the floor! I'm bringing sparklers (for outside use, Sins!). Sorry we'll miss you, Pauline -- we'll get together sometime soon, I hope. Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: karen k Date: 31 Dec 04 - 10:54 AM SINS, Sorry I can't make it. Hope you all have a great time. I wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Sing a song for me, ok. Enjoy the evening and be safe. love, karen |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 31 Dec 04 - 11:14 AM Next year, Karen...or else! I have sparklers too Linn. Leftover from a pathetic Fourth of July display I put on in a bucket on my front lawn. See you all later. |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 31 Dec 04 - 11:31 AM We should be over with BobBi K. some time after 9 pm, with a sack of holiday gift chocolates that we've resolved not to eat. They're not good for our cats either and the birds don't seem to appreciate them. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
