Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 05 Dec 06 - 07:59 AM GREAT! PA! a girl to talk to. I am off sick today and yesterday - not happened since 2003. I am much better today, but getting fed up catching up on two years' unfiled household bills and realising how much the electricity bill has doubled this year and starting up a new folder called 'pensions'. I've broken the shredder. Something for my Christmas list from my kids. I have 3 boys and they don't like buying anything that smells (nice) or has any pink on it. I know you have a son so you know the advantages - nobody pinches your flannel, comb, scissors etc etc if they are pink. Are you having a Works do? In the office or out and about? I hear from other sources that my new boss blows up condoms at Christmas parties - many will find this quite distasteful (!). We shall see. Do you sing and/or play at Folk Clubs? I am sorry if you have already mentioned that and I have forgotten. 'nuff questions for now Cathy |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 05 Dec 06 - 08:51 AM Oooooo yes, girlie talk, look away boys. I've got a stinkie cold at the mo, passed on by just about everyone at work. Try not to keep old bills, just reminds us of how much money we have no longer got. Dont need a Pensions folder anymore, John Towers saw to that when Mg Rover folded. I have one boy he's 16 and doing GCSE mocks at the mo. He's bought me soft fluffy pink things for my car! for Christmas. No, having boys is a much better idea. Our company goes to the Hilton for our Christmas dinner and disco, this year its on Friday 22nd December and I even managed to get into the hairdressers on that afternoon, hows that for luck. Everyone in the company works really hard all year, one of our engineers does not get home from Bangkok until 21 December, and this is their way of saying thank you, quite unusual these days Whole evening paid for - brill. Our boss's are generally great fun, and yes the condon thing would be right up their street. We get to the local folk club as much as poss, but due to work hours and my other job its not as often as I'd like. My husband had a 140 mile round trip every day to work and we also have a livery yard with 9 horses on it. Thankfully only three belong to me. But we've got chickens and things, so its usually 9.00pm before I actually sit down. We try and get to concerts and stuff at the NIA or the Symphone Hall (fantastic venue), my brother works for the music industry and sometimes gets tickets. And no, neither of us play or sing - god, not in public anyway !!!, there's enough trouble in the world. Hope you feel better soon. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 05 Dec 06 - 09:29 AM Thanks for the news PA. You do work long hours! It must keep you fit - but cold damp nights can't be much fun. Your Dinner/dance sounds interesting and well deserved. I have 3 boys (no we're men, Mum) - twins of 22 and one of 18 (doing A levels)and trying to get into Broadcast Journalism next year. He spots a VIP at forty paces and runs up asking politely for a business card. He follows that up with an interview for the school mag or requests for work experience. He has interviewed the mayor and the local MP but my dictaphone seems to have gone missing. I hope he hasn't taped over my chats with old aunts for family research. I should have got a pink one! All 3 boys are between 6 ft 3 and 6 foot 6 and play rugby. There is a term at the rugby club - if they are playing on the same side and tackle someone together, the unfortunate is said to have holginated (from our name Holgate). Nuff of the proud Mum stuff - they are messy buggers and use too much electricity. Off to leave some electricity-saving-reminders around the house! bye for now x |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 05 Dec 06 - 10:04 AM Was that a joke Breezy? Ross my husband said he remembers muffin the mule - I reminded him that as the owner of a livery yard that is just not funny. Anyone remember Tales of the Riverbank - how did they get the hamster/guinea pig thing to stay in the boat? |

My little boy (who's at least a foot taller than me) windsurfs swims and up to gcse's competed at dressage showjumping and cross country. I was the proudest mom on the showground I could go on and on about him all day, at least until my friends told me to shut up !!! or they'd leave me there. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 05 Dec 06 - 12:12 PM I liked the music from Tales of the Riverbank Very folkie I thought the animals were men dressed up in suits I can't make the King Harry tonight - please convey my apologies Don't stand to close to 'pick and squeeze' - those tight blackheads can be dangerous La la la la la Wasn't tuesday picture book |
|
Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 05 Dec 06 - 07:19 PM Picture Book??? You're so young Ross! Apologies conveyed and accepted. Only the man beside me said 'who the f is Ross?' I had a chance when Martin gave a stirring rendition of 'let's all go to Barton'. And lastly Ethel showed me a really quick way of getting there, past the Dahlias then a couple of quick turns - much easier than previous recommendations of 'pass the theatre then on and somewhere'. My guitar's nearly a year old. I 'll be pleased when it starts walking and doesn't need to be carried everywhere. More news about 'pick and squeeze' later. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 06 Dec 06 - 11:44 AM Its because you're listening, unless you'd like to join in, perhaps Cathie's organising her guitar's party, or she's totally stunned by the demise of my hairclip |
|
Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: The PA Date: 06 Dec 06 - 11:49 AM If you go to the jam session do you have to bring your own bread and butter, does it get messy, do you all have the same knife, sounds very yummy. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Scrump Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:17 AM Off to leave some electricity-saving-reminders around the house A useful tip is to place a large neon sign on the wall of the house saying "Please Save Electricty by Switching off Unnecessary Lights and Appliances". ... ah... ... as you were... ... I'll get me coat. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Scrump Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:18 AM That Twizzle was a bit frightening Well he doesn't frighten me, the skinny little wimp. If he comes near me I'll wallop him over the head with Ross's Farepak hamper. |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: breezy Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:24 AM Not for the King Harry, in fact there were some interesting and some very good performers. but thats enough about martin, cathie and myself. and Rob and Paul who have already impresed us at Windward and have been gigged by the A Mac for 2nd sun in may. I cant recall their 'band name' but it is abit strange, thay are good intrumentalists and with a geordie lilt to the vocal which is most acceptable to the ear. But you cant beat 'Pick and Sqeeze' without the 'u' |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Ross Date: 07 Dec 06 - 05:27 AM What about dear old hoppity All my school chums used to envy him because he had one leg shorter than the other and this helped him to swing perfectly on the garden gate - how we used to laugh at disabled people in the good old days Didn't Twizzle have a cat that loved the smell of smelly fish JB - Who are Amndo - new supergroup? Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 07 Dec 06 - 07:46 AM Oh Scrump - you are so right - it was Rag, Tag and Bobtail!! What a memory. Rag the hedgehog, Tag the mouse, and Bobtail the rabbit joined the BBC's "Watch With Mother" line-up in 1953. The series was adapted from the stories by Louise Cochrane and episodes were broadcast every Thursday afternoon. These three would embark on various gentle adventures, with mishaps and much ado along the way, but they'd always return home snug and sound to survive another day. I got my Tuesday and Thursday mixed up. I know I didn't like either day. Did a week full of happy endings make me the optimist I am today? Did Little Weed educate me into dealing with the Bills and Bens of everyday life? And did I resolve at a young age not to be anyone's Looby Loo? |
|
Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Scrump Date: 07 Dec 06 - 07:48 AM No, it was: Mon - Pic Book (no Skweaze though) Tue - Andrew Pandrew Wed - William and Benjamin, the men of ceramic persuasions* Thu - Rag Tag and Bob Tayle Fri - The Wood 'n' Tops Sat - Dr Hu, the Chinese Time Traveller Sun - Songs of Preys * if you ask me, they were completely potty |

Subject: RE: Christmas time at the Bull, Barton, Beds From: Cathie Date: 07 Dec 06 - 08:01 AM Scrump - Your opinion of Bill and Ben reminds me of when I bought a friend a flowerpot man from garden centre. He was so pleased it was a bigger model than his sister's!! I was astounded. Potty Bills and Bens have incarnated into our adult world. Blimey - work calls - back later weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed |
