Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: GUEST,Canberra Chris (guesting) Date: 05 Sep 04 - 07:22 AM Sorry, just can't get to the Wareham Wail. Stopped in Chester to catch up with the Poms-from-Oz on their last couple of days touring UK, great hospitality from Frank Wigglesworth and the mob at the Cross-Keys and house-party for 'last night of the Poms'. My 10 yr old nephew discovered, and started playing folk music, so it was all in a good cause. But we didn't get back down in time for the next leg. Maybe I'll catch up with the Middle Bar at Sidmouth if they sing on regular, as I will be down that way in the next week, and Helga Kitty in London? I'll be coming through there over the next couple of weeks. Canberra Chris |
Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: Herga Kitty Date: 06 Sep 04 - 06:15 AM I had a great time, the banquet was brilliant, and the weather fantastic. (The port was pretty good too!) Chris - the Middle Bar singers only get together in Sidmouth in Folk Week and for the February Winter reunion. Kitty |

Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: alanww Date: 06 Sep 04 - 07:34 AM Well done Grandad in organising another successful Wail. Pity about the timing of the school holidays adversely affecting some regulars' attendance. They missed some great singing and a brill feast. "... and I pray you masters be merry!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: Cllr Date: 06 Sep 04 - 09:47 AM Excellent fun as usual, I was very tired becuase of work pressures that meant I wasn't as vocal as I normally am but I still had a brilliant time. Cllr |

Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: alanww Date: 07 Sep 04 - 04:13 PM Hi vectis. treaties 1 certainly did attend her first Wail but was was she meant to make? "... the rarest dish in all the land!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: vectis Date: 07 Sep 04 - 04:33 PM Oooh good. Glad she enjoyed it. |
Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: Herga Kitty Date: 07 Sep 04 - 05:18 PM Vectis Alanww omitted to mention that Treaties 1 sang "Oh Sir Jasper" at the banquet, while being chased around by Alanww in his knight's outfit (with sword). They both looked as if they were enjoying themselves. I particularly enjoyed Mike Taylor's rendition of Little White Bull (with Fred as the bull), Jon Heslop singing "Riding on a Scooter" (followed by Alan giving a demonstration and falling off), the Middle Bar contingent stealing the pig's head and leaving Dave Reader in its place, and Alanww folding all the spare chairs and stacking them in front of Vik while he sang "They had to send for extra chairs..." Subject: RE: Wareham Wail 2004 From: Hovering Bob Date: 09 Sep 04 - 07:04 AM Wonderful weekend, throughly enjoyed myself and the singing and the banquet and the sunshine (was that really Wareham?) and spending a little time with my proxy grandson Alex. I've a few pictures, including a lovely one of Granny Sarah and Baby Alex asleep on the grass, but lack the technical knowledge to show them sensibly. Any suggestions/help? |
