Today I saw and heard the geese flying in large formations the way they used to do in March. Certain sheltered Cherry trees and forsythia bushes are now blooming. Insects, some I have never seen before, are out and about.

I'm not saying global warming, afterall Exxon has invested 16 million dollars to have select scientists deny the existence of golbal warming but it is another balmy 64 F today as it has been all week. My sympathies to Kansas.

Along with these inconvenient truths, about two weeks ago there was a complete scrambling of all Andrew air force fighter jets to chase unvarified targets that were able to evade the jets at about for times the jets top supersonic speed. I heard the jets but did not see the bogies. However hundreds of people around here did see them. The only news coverage in DC regarding this incident was on WMAL where witnesses discribed the unusual objects in detail. Andrews officials reported that the exercise was routine.

Is it April 1st already? We ALL would have HEARD anything going by at 5,000+ miles per hour.

I was just out delivering meals on wheels and saw a flock of ducks... on January 4 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Oh, some stay here through the winter now because some idiots keep feeding them, but this was a flock of black ducks.... in January!!!!

We have +7C here (at dusk) and it's to be +double digits for near the next week!!! Last winter was similar.

In the 80's and throughout the 90's I spent 15 years in Chautauqua County in Western NY, near Buffalo. Yesterday, Jan 4th, was always the day that Chautauqua lake froze over solid. Highs were below freezing and lows often below zero.

Yesterday the high there was 52. This is lower than the record highs, which were set in the last three years. The ski resorts, concord grape harvesters (this is where Mogen David and Welch's comes from) and maple syrup producers are pretty worried.

Linda

I was on the border of PG and Monty Counties two weeks ago and didn't hear any extraordinary jets. The relatives in Delaware didn't either.

Oh well, I usually miss all the excitement. Thank goodness.

There's light snow, ice under it here and it'll be a high of 24 F and a low of 3 F. New "warm" day is Sunday, with a predicted high of 33 and low of 24; 30% chance of snow.

Well it has probably much less to do with Global Warming[tm]
than it does with naturally-occurring jet-stream patterns.

Then again, if more people become convinced that Global Warming[tm]
is a real problem because of it, it's a blessing.

Though I suppose people in Colorado aren't convinced.

We have a higher high and a low today in Bucks County, PA
than they do in Phoenix, AZ! Tomorrow, we're supposed to be
at 66F!

Fox news ways that eL-nINyO IS the reason for the hot winter.

OHare airport on Nov 7 had a ufo sighting that was reported by baggage handlers and pilots alike. They made written reports but had no video.

Well, this winter is an odd one in Juneau, Alaska. Because of el Nino it was supposedly going to be a warm rainy one- instead, starting on November 1 (I think. It may have been a couple of days later) we've had lots and lots of snow. I don't know what the total figure is at this point but it must be around 100 inches. Several snow storms back we had already had 89 inches .

And it is snowing. This time it is heavy and wet instead of light and powdery- great for snowmen and sledding.
