Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Big Mick Date: 11 Jun 08 - 03:50 PM Thanks, sweetie. Here's hoping. And chase that wine with a good dose of decent gin if need be. After all, it was developed originally for medicinal purposes. I would think Plymouth, or Tanqueray Ten would do the trick. If they aren't available, Bombay Sapphire should do nicely. Hug the old crank for me...... wait ...... I didn't mean that ..... hug the cranky old grump for me. Damn...... All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: ClaireBear Date: 11 Jun 08 - 04:18 PM {{{Jacqui}}} Hugs for you. I'll keep my paws off Kendall, but I'm thinking all the healthy thoughts I can for him, and whispering a few prayers as well. I'll second the gin, perhaps with a splash of Bitter Lemon? (The quinine will do you no end of good.) Fingers and toes are now firmly crossed for Kendall, now that they no longer need to be crossed for Linn. Claire |

Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: GUEST,Kendall Date: 11 Jun 08 - 06:24 PM It is so hard to be humble with friends such as I have all wishing me luck and love. You are priceless. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: GUEST,Dan's laptop again Date: 11 Jun 08 - 06:30 PM Hmm. Doesn't sound grumpy to me. Maybe the meds haven't worn off yet.... I know, I know. "Let me handle the jokes." Glad to see you're up and mudcatting already, Kendall. Dan |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Rapparee Date: 11 Jun 08 - 10:39 PM Priceless: without price, i.e., worthless. 'S okay. I've known for a long time I'm a worthless bum. But I enjoy it. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Amos Date: 11 Jun 08 - 10:43 PM For a librarian you sure make silly mistakes sometimes, Rapaire. Priceless in this sense means "beyond measurable price". DIng dong. Your self esteem, though, is another matter. A |

Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Peace Date: 11 Jun 08 - 11:02 PM Thinking about you, Kendall. Hang tough, man. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: KT Date: 12 Jun 08 - 12:31 AM Hey, you two! So glad it's over! I've been petitioning the heavens all day on your behalf! (while flying through them, even!) (no, I'm not on something, I just returned from the lower 48) That Chardonnay, however sounds like a really good idea, Jacqui. Wish I were there or you were here so we could toast to the Cap'n's full and speedy recovery! Here's to you both! KT |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Janie Date: 12 Jun 08 - 12:49 AM Darling Kendall, Be well. Darling Jackie, Be well. (and the poppy seeds are ready. Red for healing.) Love again. Janie |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Bert Date: 12 Jun 08 - 02:14 AM ...He's a bit tired and grumpy as all get out but,... So what's new ;-) - Sorry guy I couldn't resist that. Here's hoping that your voice comes back better ever. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Jeri Date: 12 Jun 08 - 06:27 AM Hugzilla. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Rapparee Date: 12 Jun 08 - 09:15 AM Amos, I don't use your "standard" didactionary. Logically, if something is "beyond price" than a value or worth cannot be placed on it. Therefore it is worthless or valueless. Now, Kendall's voice is obviously worth a whole lot so you'd have to say that it was "nearly priceless" or "practically worthless." Kendall, get your practically worthless self up to snuff, back to normal, and toeing the line. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Leadfingers Date: 12 Jun 08 - 09:44 AM Missed this thread til today ! Good Thoughts are on the way from W London Cap'n - And if you want to 'vent' at all , look for me in MudChat most nights - Seven ish YOUR time !! |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Amos Date: 12 Jun 08 - 10:54 AM Rapaire: I concede, sir, that you are little more than an abysmal idiot. My apologies. A |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: kendall Date: 12 Jun 08 - 01:40 PM It's all over but the worrying. My throat looks like I came out second in a knife fight, and it is very tender, but I have pain killers that make me loopy but able to cope. Total voice rest for 5 days, then...to be continued. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Amos Date: 12 Jun 08 - 01:43 PM JEst enjoy being loopy for a bit, Skipper. It's not like you have had many opportunities... :D A |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: jacqui.c Date: 12 Jun 08 - 01:45 PM He really was loopy - he let me drive all the way home from Albany - not that I was going to let him loose with the car in his present condition. We stopped in Mass. for a 'comfort break' and, as we got out the car, he told me that he would drive the rest of the way. By the time we got back to the car he had decided that I had better finish the driving. Whatever the painkillers are they're pretty strong! Wonder of wonders, I've barely heard a peep out of him for 24 hours now! He really is taking the voice rest seriously. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Bill D Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:11 PM Pain killers really help with reasonable behavior...*grin*...(save a few for after he gets well!) Keep on keepin' on, Kendall! |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: SINSULL Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:13 PM Are you sharing???? Good to have you home, Captain. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: gnu Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:27 PM Tick... tick... tick... gonna be a long week or two. But, I can keep my fingers crossed that long... and send thoughts and prayers. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Bat Goddess Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:35 PM Haven't had time to POST here, but sure have been busy sending white light and healing thoughts. You'll have to wait til Saturday for the hugs -- but they're better in person, eh? Kendall, have you investigated talking intravenously? I know, I know...but it'll be a nice rest for Jacqui. ( I KNOW what it's like being married to a Curmudgeon!) We're keeping the positive thoughts coming! Linn |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Herga Kitty Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:35 PM Best wishes and hugs! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Rapparee Date: 12 Jun 08 - 03:42 PM Enjoy it while you can, Jacqui. Enjoy it while you can. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: SINSULL Date: 12 Jun 08 - 04:27 PM What makes you think it is easier for Jacqui when Kendall can't talk? He is twice as grumpy and stamps his feet to get attention. Add to that his tolerance for pain and aggravation threshhold...poor Jacqui will need a case of champagne to cope. In a little voice - I love you Kendall. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Amos Date: 12 Jun 08 - 04:48 PM Talking intravenously could be dangerous, as you could blow an airbubble into your blood stream. Better to do it rectally until the throat heals up. A |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: kendall Date: 12 Jun 08 - 05:22 PM I've been down this road before, and it's not as hard as you think. You simply process every thought and decide it's not important enough to speak. The only real problem is, I don't know how to spell some of my favorite expletives. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jun 08 - 05:27 PM "......but I have pain killers that make me loopy but able to cope. " You were already loopy and I doubt seriously if anything you're taking makes you able to cope. But send me some for a clinical trial huh? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Peace Date: 12 Jun 08 - 05:29 PM I will help Spaw with this one, so send half to him and half to me. Great to see you posting, Kendall. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: GUEST,Pamela from Ithaca Date: 12 Jun 08 - 05:29 PM "You simply process every thought and decide it's not important enough to speak." Now there's some wisdom we could *all* use. And what's the fun of expletives if they're spelled correctly? See you at Old Songs, I expect. We can wink expletives at each other. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Rapparee Date: 12 Jun 08 - 06:11 PM Why not use (ahem!) Morse Code? |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: SINSULL Date: 12 Jun 08 - 06:35 PM Rapaire! Cellar! And while you're at it, hose Giok down. He's beginning to smell gamey. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: gnu Date: 12 Jun 08 - 07:52 PM Kendall.... "The only real problem is, I don't know how to spell some of my favorite expletives." Fuck me! No shit? |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: jacqui.c Date: 13 Jun 08 - 08:34 AM Gnu - those aren't his favourites. I've worked in various bars around the UK and been married to a plumber (#1) and a carpenter (#2). Until Kendall refitted the kitchen I had never heard such inventive and varied cursing! I just hope I never come face to face with the folk that he described - syphilitic son of a whore was one of the milder ones. |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Rapparee Date: 13 Jun 08 - 08:55 AM Jacqui, don't get ME started! Maybe when Kendall gets his voice back we can have an Invective Contest.... |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: catspaw49 Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:07 AM Always happy to join in myself. Shall we just swear for the hell of it or should we pick a particular topic? Maybe prhases said when a mechanical task goes awry like plumbing. Karen will not come around me when I have to fix the plumbing. Or maybe we need phrases used on a specific thing that gives us a problem. The phrase that Kendall used there might be a good example when speaking to your car. Or should we just have a Cappin' contest, play the dozens type thing where one might say, "Kendall, you're so friggin' stupid you might be twins.".........Or, "Your nuts are so small and seedlike it would take 12 dozen to make a snack for a canary." Just let me know where and when! Spaw |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: MMario Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:09 AM hah! Maybe we could finally get 'Spaw to GETAWAY!!!!! |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Dan Schatz Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:25 AM Maybe that's what did it his voice to begin with.... Dan |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: maeve Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:31 AM Here's a hug and a kiss each for you and Jacqui, Kendall (((Kendall))) (((Jacqui))) XX. It'll be good to see you both whenever I can get back over your way again. maeve |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: Becca72 Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:39 AM "You simply process every thought and decide it's not important enough to speak." This has always worked for me...but I AM the quiet one in the family :-) Is is "son of a whore" or "sonofawhore"? |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: MMario Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:43 AM Not sure in Maine, but in Bahston it would be "sonovahoah" |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: katlaughing Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:47 AM "Your nuts are so small and seedlike it would take 12 dozen to make a snack for a canary." OR, even 12 dozen couldn't cover the head of a pin! |
Subject: RE: Kendall's next operation From: DougR Date: 13 Jun 08 - 10:56 AM Hang in there Kendall. I hope everything works out well for you. DougR |
