Let's see... Tom Biscardi, known scammer in cryptozoological circles... no public access to body until next week... or the week after... or likely never... noticeable resemblance of 'body' as shown in very poor photo to known sasquatch costume...

I ain't holding my breath. A $99. digital camera could have taken many photos of higher quality than the single distributed image. Biscardi went out to see these Georgia boys without even a basic camera?

The boys supposedly poured water into the freezer to encase the 'body' in ice, but were defeated by a nefarious frost-free appliance, so the body is lying in about a foot of water. Whut?

If there are any genuine creatures of that sort out there, I think it would be very much in their interest not to be (officially) found.

"The picture they sent out in a press release and on their Web site shows what appears to be a hairy corpse crammed into a chest freezer. The accompanying announcement describes the creature as a 7-foot-7 male, weighing 550 pounds with 16-inch human-like feet and reddish hair."

The hell it is! It's my long-lost brother Orestes! He had testicles that dangled below his knees -- he was known far and wide as Testes Orestes. Until the day he found a way to make powdered teas taste good -- the newspapers had an article on the Nesteas of Testes Orestes. Turned out he stole the recipe and was enjoined from making more of the tea, so the newspapers had to publish an article on the Arrest Teas of Nesteas of Testes Orestes.

It got so bad he slung his equipment over his shoulder and slouched Southward.

"PALO ALTO, California (Reuters) - Bigfoot remains as elusive as ever.

Results from tests on genetic material from alleged remains of one of the mythical half-ape and half-human creatures, made public at a news conference on Friday held after the claimed discovery swept the Internet, failed to prove its existence.

Its spread was fuelled by a photograph of a hairy heap, bearing a close resemblance to a shaggy full-body gorilla costume, stuffed into a container resembling a refrigerator.

One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis.

Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat.

Results of the DNA tests were revealed in an e-mail from Nelson and distributed at the Palo Alto, California, news conference held by Tom Biscardi, host of a weekly online radio show about the Bigfoot.

Also present were Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, the two who say they discovered the Bigfoot corpse while hiking in the woods of northern Georgia. They also are co-owners of a company that offers Bigfoot merchandise.

Despite the dubious photo and the commercial interests of the alleged discoverers, the Bigfoot claim drew interest from Australia to Europe and even The New York Times.

Biscardi said the DNA samples may not have been taken correctly and may have been contaminated, and that he would proceed with an autopsy of the alleged Bigfoot remains, currently in a freezer at an undisclosed location.

From CNN:

In a related story...

A statistician from MIT and a former shoe salesman for Carnival Shoes say that on Friday they will unveil evidence of what they claim is their biggest find ever: the body of Mediumfoot. Harry Farquette and Greg Darneer, a pair of Mediumfoot-hunting hobbyists from Wisconsin, say they have finally compiled the statistics on all 6 billion living humans (with a variable of + or - 3%), and have found the one human whose feet are the exact middle size.

They plan on unveiling Thomas Wheeler of Pittsfield Ohio as the World's Exact Mediumfoot in a ceremony on Saturday, August 23.

"What really caught us off guard -- what we could never have foreseen -- is that Mr Wheeler isn't even a D width!" exclaimed Mr Farquette in an interview on Tuesday.

Why would you waste a good real gorilla just to fake out a fake gorilla? Doesn't "gorilla" rhyme with "Orilla"?

It reminds me of this little anecdote...

The repair took a washer and a simple O-ring. The O-ring was pushed gently out of shape so that it couldn't rightly still be called an "O-ring" except that "Oval" starts with "O" as well as "O" starts with "O". And, in point of fact, some "O"s in some font styles, are not as round as an O-ring even before it is pushed gently out of shape like this one was.

Yes. But it doesn't rhyme with Orillia. I live in Orillia, not in Orilla.

"Thrill ya" rhymes with Orillia. Also "kill ya" and "chill ya".

Some of the available material is very interesting. If I were to hazard a guess it would be that there are such creatures out there as people have described. Now and then there is an encounter that gets into the media for a day or so, but it only creates a brief sensation. Those who are already very intersted in the subject keep thinking about it, everyone else forgets, and life goes on.

Could be so, LH. I know something about seeing animals that aren't supposed to exist. Although I have no opinion on whether or not some large bipedal critter inhabits the pacific forests, I would not automatically laugh at some average joe or josephine who told me they'd seen one. The fellas that staged this hoax, however - them I can laugh at.

Same goes for AFO sightings. (alien flying objects)

While this is an obvious hoax, not all finds are. Sadly, every group of this sort will be found eventually and their lives forever changed.

I have much personal knowledge of this as I was part of the massive find in 1949 of a Bigdick clan which had been living peacefully for many years. Our elders were killed off by stupid Homo sapiens males out of sheer jealousy and misunderstanding while the rest of the males of our species were sent to Los Angeles for further study and as "stunt dicks" in porno films.

Even worse, our females were slaughtered en masse and their vaginas equpped with wheels and used for early camping trailers. It was a sad time..............
