Newport is about an hour away from the New England Folk Festival which is this weekend (April 24-26, 2009) in Mansfield, MA. Several mudcatters will be there.

Ever frequent Billy Goode's in Newport? They have a Thursday night open mike that is sometimes pretty good.

I'd be interested in learning in any recent research or opinions on whether the "old tower" in Newport is of Viking origin or not.
