Sorry I didn't start this last night. As usual, post your goals and accomplishments.

Starting back slowly from pneumonia, for today:

Drive self to doc and back
Fold laundry and put away
Modified qi gong, if I still have any energy left
More to follow in the days to come.:-)

Walked home from the station, carrying a bag of fruit... bending and stretching to find the 50p I dropped... came up with 5p and a 10Bani piece (Roumanian) so I think I'm about 43p down... Ah well, never mind.

LOL...sounds good!

My first solo "flight" in over two weeks, walking to the car without the extra O2, then setting it up in the car, driving to the doc and back. Also well enough to pick up lunch and grandson. Light walking and playing with him, including some drumming. No qi gong, today.

My goals for this are modified and aimed at simply being patient and gentle with myself, making sure I carve out a little time to take care of myself.

Our baby is due any day now and I KNOW that will keep me busy and alter our current schedule in a BIG way. However, I have a nice stroller with hefty wheels for handling these back roads for walks and I hope to get out for a walk or two during the week. It will depend entirely on the weather and the health of our wee one. In addition, I have made arrangements for a sitter twice a week for 2 hours so I can get to yoga. While I'll be getting to the studio less, I have signed up for the more vigorous classes so that's good! Also, I have a mat here (my good mat lives at the studio) so I can practice here. Added bonus, my best GF got me a Mommy and Baby yoga DVD so we can do yoga together (although I'm really thinking this will work better in the 3 month + zone). I have a bike too so MAYBE I can get some of that in. Kayaking will be happening as Daddy will be on the shore with the baby. I am in training for a river fest coming up next month. I got myself a new boat and am working to become really familiar with it, how it handles and it's tipping limits.

Food choices remain to be whole foods, lots of veggies and fruits. No big changes there.

If anticipation counts towards burning calories, I expect to drop a large amount of weight in the next week or two..LOL! Really though, I'll do what I can this month and be happy with whatever I do.

Happy May Everybody!

Michelle

That sounds very sensible and good for you for taking care of you, first, in order to be there for your son.:-) By the time he gets to scooting around, crawling and then walking and getting into everything, you'll find a lot of exercise comes with just keeping up with him. I never had any problems with losing pregnancy weight when my kids were born...they each worked it off of me and I had a blast whilst doing so! It is REALLY good oyu have scheduled a babysitter and yoga on a regular basis, too.

First time in about three weeks, I was able to go grocery shopping with Rog. Forty minutes of steady walking and pushing the cart, picking up and loading foodstuffs. I've done about another thirty minutes of housework and now feel the need to rest for awhile. It's all good, though. Not going to take me as long this time to bounce back. Still 8 more days of the steroid which wreaks havoc with weight, but it is in diminishing increments so improving.

Yesterday, see the declutter thread. I did about two hours of moving furniture, books, cleaning, etc.

Today, walking - thirty minutes with a bit of gardening.

Went to the greenhouse with Morgan. Walked around and picked up several flats of annuals - about an hour of walking. Came home and did another 30-40 minutes of walking, throwing baseball and watering outdoor plants as well as a little bit of weeding! Even lopped off a couple of branches from my tiny redbud tree planted last year. AND, I still have some energy! Think I"ll go do the dishes and finish the laundry.

Official weigh in tonight if I make it through... we'll see what damage my sister's cooking did.

My goal this month is to break through that elusive 15stone barrier that I've been stuck at since last November. The original goal was to lose 2 stones by Christmas. I succeeded with half that, but have been stuck on this plateau now for 6 months.

The Wii yoga has been doing something - not necessarily helping lose weight but redistributing it around so that a skirt I last wore 4 years ago is loose to the point of needing a belt and the bodice that goes with it can be removed over my head without slacking off the laces. Of course, that could just be the recent bout of tummy troubles...

My weigh-in was terrible...third week on prednisone (steroid to reduce effects of pneumonia) has done nothing but make me gain. I had forgotten how it just grabs you and makes you into a voracious grazer, almost non-stop. It messes up the blood sugar, so I get shaky within two hours of eating and have to have something. The good thing is I have been craving strawberries and baby carrots which has helped somewhat, but I still have put on too much, too easily. It will go down as soon as I am done which will be next week. So it'll be like starting all over. *sigh* I don't know why anyone would want to "bulk up" on steroids...wish my docs had reminded me of its effect before i was three days into it, stuffing my face!**bg**

Still feeling much better and able to do more physical stuff.

I've been on prednisolone for a week now, got another week to go. I'm lucky because I haven't put any weight on with it although the asthma being on the bad side recently has put pay to my exercising. I had another attack on Sunday which meant I couldn't do my 3rd class and the class on Tuesday. I'm hoping to be well enough for my weekends classes.

Today we went to playgroup with the kids but I'm still a bit breathless.

Weighed myself this morning and only lost a lb but I've not been very active.

Steroids can cause significant water weight gain, kat. My brother puffed up so that I did not recognize him when he was on large doses. Be kinder to yourself. Once you are off the steroids, you will lose the weight AND feel well enough to do more.

Now if I can get my butt to the gym and yoga I too will lose some. LOL

Thanks, Sins. I know I will lose it all, again, and fairly rapidly, that which has come because of the steroid. But, it's not water weight. The doc and I concur on that...it's just plain old grazing...I have never had such a compulsion of any kind before like this. I will be glad to be done with it, the shaky blood sugar, etc. I don't like sounding like an ageist, but it definitely was a lot easier when I was younger...maybe had something to do with kids to chase around, too. Never a dull moment!

Only half a pound lost, but that's the first weigh in for 3 weeks.. which means if I gained anything whilst staying with my sister (which would not be difficult - nary a green vegetable in sight and masses of carbs in the shape of potatoes and breadcrumbed fish), it has gone already...

Must just concentrate on eating right now for the next week. I guess I'll eat my way through the cauliflower that's in the fridge - although I don't actually feel like eating much anyway. And my legs still ache, it's been a week now. I'm wondering what else I picked up with my luggage.

Weightwatchers have screwed up my monthly pass - they say they haven't been able to charge my credit card. This is hardly surprising, as I normally pay on direct debit from the bank! However, for some reason, their debit has disappeared from the list on my banking details. I am going to phone the bank and see if it's them that's cancelled it.

Not a happy bunny!

This is where I come clean and admit that the WW subscription failed because I have been paying on my debit card (I forgot about that), and I had to get a new card in the last month when I lost the one that was registered to the site.

Anyway, WW emailed and told me they had temporarily reactivated my account so that I could register the new card details, and that I would be able to access with my original password.

Er....no

It won't actually let me log in to change my details, so unless they sort it out, I will cease to be registered.
Does that bother me? Not any more! I can follow the programme without going to meetings, and use my very accurate digital scales at home. Yes, I will miss out on the support, but I think there is plenty here. Also ultimately the drive to succeed has to come from me alone.

Good for you, Andrea. I only have the online subscription and find I really like tracking it that way. I've never been a meeting support person anyway.

I am down to one prednisone each for the next three days, then I am done! Went to the store and spent 45 minutes shopping for groceries with Morgan in tow, not being very helpful, just pestering for a change, so it felt like double duty. Also clocked in about 45 minutes watering, gardening, walking and cleaning up inside and out, plus laundry, so I feel I am getting back on track.

They reactivated the subscription, after I managed to get in at last.

Better go and get weighed tomorrow night, I suppose. Hell, it's one of my social events these days! Anyway, it's worth it for hearing the leader - he is VERY camp, and absolutely hilarious!

Biggest exertion today was putting buckets of compost onto my potato plants to earth them up, as they are in a narrow raised bed. Due to it being an old, compacted border at one time, they are not planted all that deep. I'm hoping the plants will break it up a bit. Till then, I have to increase the height of the soil. Apart from that, I have pushed a push chair, which ain't that strenuous!

'spose I really ought to do some ironing.

My Rog mowed the front yard and whacked weeds. I potted up a bunch of pansies, marigolds and wishbone flower plants with a teeny bit of help from Morgan. I am going to post more about today in my TFTD thread, but I can clock about 60-90 minutes of puttering around the yard, etc. being active for today. My flowers are gorgeous!

Having spent the afternoon in the garden, and gone out in fairly lightweight clothes without a meal first - 3.5lbs off!

Got supermarket shop and Tai Chi this morning. Plan A is to tackle the small but rampant front garden this afternoon. There are hop vines starting again.

Small amount of walking down by a reservoir while Morgan fed old bread to ducks, geese, and blue herons. They were beautiful to see. The reservoir is actually a side thing filled by the Colorado River, so we were parked near the river. I am always amazed each spring when the runoff starts in the mountains and swells the river increasing its flow to where it has a lot of white water. It was tremendously, scary fast today.

I'll fess up to just doing the washing and a bit of garden pottering yesterday.

Today I am mainly tied up with my neighbour's funeral (in just over an hour). Also my daughter rang me in tears a couple of hours ago to tell me one of her cats had just been run over, and she hadn't long let him out. I think I may be going there after the funeral bash. If I get an hour or so I may have a go at the front garden later on.

hmmm, must not have posted my weigh-in last week. I can't remember what it was 2 weeks ago, either.

Anyway, I was 186 at the Y this morning; I think I'm yoyoing but at least I seem to be yoyoing in a downward direction, still.

I am not working out like I should be, but I am yanking a lot of weeds (which just gives me a backache, but has to be burning a little something.)

maeve, I hope your friends continue to help out...I know I can never get my Rog to rest, either. Hope your arm is doing better.

I spent about twenty minutes working in the yard, watering and stuff. Not much, but my energy is very low at the moment.

No yoga for a few days, for one it's proving very difficult to get back into a normal routine and for two, I've pulled a muscle in my side by coughing with chest infection... however, last night's weigh-in showed no gain, but no loss either. Ho hum.

I'm now wondering whether the pain of getting the thing on is worth the relief my corset is giving me from the pain...

The task this week is to stick 100% to the 'eating plan', something I find I haven't been doing. To this end, I've put a list of the things I eat most often on the fridge, along with their pudgy point value. It seems to be working, because although I really haven't been 100% faithful, I have thought twice about what I am snacking on.

Hopefully the weigh in next week (must remember it's Monday, not Wednesday) will show the difference.

A speaker I heard at a (preschool education) conference had bad things to say about yogurt cups and the amount of sugar in them..

I am hoping this just applies to fruit yogurt, which I know is sweetened to the max, and not the Brown Cow coffee yogurt, which is a standard snack for me.

160 calories, half from sugar, 19 grams sugar total. all white I assume.

Since I've been doing OK with this I incline to continuing, but then I don't know what it's doing to my blood sugar.

I need to round up the blood test sticker; I've been neglecting that -- one of the things I just don't have energy for but may need to bump up on the list.

My sleep guy says bad sleep bumps up the fasting glucose too so that's another reason to persist with the sleep stuff, although nothing seems to be working except the sedative, which wears off in the wee hours.

Wish me luck.

I've been eating the fruit yoghurt likes it going out of style since being on the prednisone. My daughter thinks it's okay to let my grandson have the sugar-free stuff, but if you look at the label, it's still got sugar plus all of the chemical crap. (He gets all stuffed up when he does too much sugar.) I'd rather have plain old sugar than that! Just tapering off now.

Lots better if you just buy plain yoghurt, mix in some frozen fruit, unsweetened, and even add in some low fat cottage cheese. All good protein, low sugar etc. Add a few nuts or low-sugar granola and it's really tasty!

Pulled a few more weeds, today, plus watered all by myself. Also about thirty minutes walking here and there.

Sugar free yogurt does have sugar in it....from the fruit but also from naturally occurring milk sugars.

Yoga: 75 minutes

Took my giant dog to the vet today (ear infection) and spent an hour trying to hold her and keep her from wiggling so he could work on her ear....she weighs in around 120, so I'd say I had a bit of a workout with her too!

Herbal tea - Sainsburys' Cranberry, raspberry and strawberry tea bags. No caffeine, no GM, tastes as good hot as cold and it's not got any added sweetners or sugars in... I use sweeteners (no pudgy points, huzzah!) to sweeten to taste.

Plus my standard default mug holds about a pint of tea, so I'm getting enough liquids which help with the general flush.

One Magnum later I went home and did a bit more gardening, ate a pointed-up beef stew, and then went out with Eleanor to see the London City Gospel Choir doing their "Songs from Sister Act" show.

Question - Will the amount of bopping about I did in front of my seat cancel out the Magnum and the ice cream I had at the theatre???

Nice little boat...going to take some getting used to. While I was out on the water I saw 2 small mouth bass, 1 small muskie, countless sunfish, 2 BIG UGLY carp, 2 great blue herons (one flying, one stalking), 3 pairs of geese with their teenage goslings (no longer little fluff balls but not quite grown) on land, a mama duck and baby ducklings swimming in a row behind her and a noisy, splashy beaver!! I do not look forward to weekly weigh-in on Wednesday; I couldn't resist at Folk Fest.

Read no further if you don't want cravings triggered.

redcurry chicken (on white rice), chicken satay on a stick, honey yogurt, an entire pint of (french lavendar bud) ice cream, greek beef/lamb gyros w/all the extra stufdf (on white pita bread), Lebanese falafel sandwich w/ extras (on white pita bread), and this was only when I could get through the lines, which were awful.

ate all the bananas I brought with me. ate a pound of baby pork ribs on the way home (of course they are mostly bone, but there is a lotta sweet sauce on them).

I did a ton of walking every day, but I do that at work.

I dread Wednesday.

Bad tape to play...I like the taking it one day at a time, trite as that may sound. (I know you know this as you have been SO SUCCESSFUL. I think I write it mostly to put myself on the carpet.:-)

A bunch of cleaning and some gardening today which required a lot of physical activity, esp. compared to the last few weeks.

Tried a bit of yoga this morning (Warrior is all there is room for in my kitchen - it's pouring with rain so couldn't use garden and the front room is full of quilt piecings) and couldn't believe how stiff I've got over the last few weeks. Mind you, I had spent most of the weekend in the garden, sorting stuff, shoveling piles of poo and assorted crap, and playing hopscotch with Limpit... Next time though, I'll wear shoes, bare feet and newly cleaned floor don't really go.

I too, dread Wednesday's weigh-in. Because the kitchen and sitting room have been 'work zones', we've mostly had take-outs this weekend... bad bad person that I am. I'm hoping 3 good days and some Detox tea will help.

OK, 186 at the Y this morning.

That's a 2 pound re-gain. It could have been worse, and I don't know how much effort it will take to continue moving downward.

At least I did my nautilus yesterday. It's been hard to get it in, what with not sleeping and needing to yank weeds before they seed.

I have been school visiting for my job (public library), and numbers of teachers have come up to me to say "You've lost weight, haven't you?"

Yeah, like, 70 pounds. more than 1/4 of my highest weight, but less than 1/3.

MAG, I'm in the same boat... as soon as I get down to within a couple of pounds of that magical 15st marker, it all appears again from nowhere. I'm sure there's a Fat Fairy who visits me when I'm asleep and squirts a few pounds in under the skin somewhere...

Sometimes it takes a while for people to notice, but that just means you're doing it right... as long as they keep saying 'you've lost weight, don't you look good' and not 'you've lost weight, are you ill?', then we're doing OK!!
