I mean think about it ... here is a friend, someone you loved, he passed away ... to honor the memory of your friend, you put together a CD and it was Nominated for a GRAMMY !! A Grammy !!... when I die I could only hope that I leave this world with friends who thought a tenth as much of me ...

It occurs to me (I'm slow) that the reason that the REAL honor is in being nominated is that the CD had to be specifically chosen, had to be so good that someone(s) said, Hey, this album needs to be in the lineup!

After all the nominations are in, the selection depends much more on mood, clout, persuasiveness and the humiditytytyty of the day.

Both recordings paid tribute to artists that deserve greater recognition. The accomplishments are extraordinary. I wish it could have been a tie, I love both recordings so much.

I'm glad that it was Loudon that got it. We did real good getting nominated.

It has been an interesting weekend - we have seen some amzing acts this evening, even if some of them wer definitely NOT to my taste, but I can now say that I was in the same room as Placido Domingo and Andreas Bocchelli, two of my heroes, in addition to yesterday being in the presence of Leonard Cohen.

Kendall's daughters have been wonderful companions and I have loved spending time with them.

I'll be glad to be heading for home tomorrow.

All you folks who teamed up to do this wonderful CD of Utah's music should be poppin' buttons with pride, even if you didn't get the blue ribbon. You and Utah were recognized for the excellence of the music - and you who were there at the ceremony got to hang out with some real legends (like Leonard Cohen and, of course, Weird Al).

(Now if Jacqui had writhed around on a rope trapeze, wearing only a flesh-colored unitard and spraying water on the crowd, who knows? ... )

(I actually liked the trapeze act pretty much, and wasn't surprised that Pink did something like that.   At first I was borderline shocked - then I realized the dancers were all wearing body stockings. Probably wouldn't play in Peoria, but I thought it was pretty artistic. )

I thought Pink and the trapeze act was great, and almost gave it a standing ovation in my living room. Same for Lady Gaga and Elton John, Same for Andrea Bocelli and Mary J Blige. Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks: Swift began with a lot of off-pitch moments but leveled out.

Was that the Morse contingent yelling when the recording nomination was announced. I heard the 'whoops' and thought, "They ARE there!"

I was glad to see that Masters of the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar have come out with a second CD and won in the afternoon presentation.

I believe that the red nose picture was taken at the nominees' reception the night before. At least, the lovely red ensemble was what Geeta wore to that, and she was wearing a magnificent purple number for the award show.

I've just got up - at about 1.30 - I was totally wasted this morning so stayed in bed reading all morning.

The travel back was on time and OK but does get very tedious. I had a good time at the Grammys, but not an experience I would want to repeat, as if there will ever be another chance!

I finally got home at 2.00am - arrived in Boston at 10.00pm but no bus until 11.25 and then a two hour journey to Portland. Poor Kendall also had to stay up until then to come and get me from the station so we both went to bed very late, but not before he was given his Grammy medal, which he has been wearing all day now!

He will be cooking dinner. I'm going to check the net and then veg out in front of the TV and catch up with the stuff I put on tape over the weekend.

Pics will follow. I've still got to download mine and get hold of whatever Deb took. Dan downloaded a lot from Charlie Pilser and I'm hoping to get copies and do a set on flickr that I can post here, but probably not today.
