Chimps have been seen in the movies for a long time, almost as long as the movies have been around. The most famous movie chimp, of course, was the great Cheetah, seen in so many of the Tarzan films, but there have been many others. As yet, however, no gay chimps have been seen in the movies. Could this be because chimps are prejudiced against gays? Or is it because people are prejudiced against gay chimps? What effect would it have on the primate community if a major chimp movie star "came out" and espoused the gay lifestyle?

No gay chimps or other gay animal characters have been seen in Disney animated films either! One has to wonder why. Could this be evidence of homophobia on the part of the Disney studios?

Anyway, to get back to the main question, is it time for a gay chimp movie star?

It may be time for that, frogprince. ;-) I don't copycat everything, though, I just copycat stuff that's handy in a satyrical sense.

Anyway, I've got other problems to deal with right now. Chongo has gone "ape". He's gone absolutely berserk. He's been screaming, hooting, hollering, throwing the furniture around...

He also says he's not talking to me. (This after a lengthy tirade on his part.)

He's definitely not pleased about the idea advanced in this thread. I knew Chongo didn't exactly sympathize with gays, but I did not expect such an extreme reaction. He stormed out of the place a minute ago and has probably gone somewhere to have a stiff drink or two.

Well, fortunately he only visits here. His main residence is in Chicago. He has gone off in a huff, and I don't think he'll be back for a bit. I didn't realize how worked up he'd get over this issue. He's really old school when it comes to sexual roles. He learned most of what he knows from Raymond Chandler novels, after all.

Uh-huh. I'm aware of Certain Bars in Chicago where they only send in female police officers, and I've heard that those bars are Chongo's favorite watering holes. Places with names like "The Leather Butterfly" and "Pooters".

You are RIGHT to be concerned about that! Most folkies are blissfully unaware that Burl Ives was an undercover orangutan...an orangutan with a good body shave...and let's not forget that he testified against other musicians for the HUAC. On the other hand, he did a fantastic acting job in "The Big Country" and "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof", so he wasn't all bad. The thing with orangutans is, you don't want to arouse their wrath.

Yeah, well...I got that information originally from "Deep Chimp". You know how curiosity is, right? I couldn't resist taking just one little peek.
