I seem to be likely to have quite a lot of green tomatoes. Has anyone any suggested recipes? The ones found by googling seem likely to be a bit sweet and not as explosive as I remember my old next-door neighbour making, but she was old stock, having been married to a Colonel Slaughter and actually stationed with the British Army in India, don-cher-know.

I recollect no apple flavours in hers, but possibly pickling spice and maybe a hint of clove. Chili and maybe ginger could have been in there too.

My neighbor gave me a jar of her green tomato relish, and it's a wonderful sweetish relish. I've since then tried a couple of other versions of it, and I had a bunch of green cherry tomatoes that had to be picked (I had a bunch of volunteers and couldn't get into the garden any more because of them). I got them before they started to blush and gave enough to a friend to make and can a batch. He's even entered it in the state fair this year!

Last year I had tons of green tomatoes at the last frost and am sorry to say that while many of them slowly ripened, a lot of them went into the compost. Never again!

Apple vinegar will add more fruit flavor.

Maybe you have a point...........oh yeah.......I recall it now.........You want to turn them into soap.........I believe you said, "They'd make better soap than they would human beings."

Yep.....I got it wrong. Green tomato throwing would be a poor substitute...............

wow there are thousands of recipes...how much in a bottle of treacle?
is this the same as molasses?

yum-fried green tomato B.L.T. sandwiches were on one of those sites.
if you wrap green tomatoes in newspaper when you store them after picking before frost they have a better survival rate.

Fool. I wasn't fantasising about anything. That's all inside your head, where presumably it has plenty of space.
