Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: GUEST,kendall Date: 03 Nov 10 - 07:07 PM Smarts, don't it? I had Salmon in a hotel in Edinburgh back in 1988 and I have never had better anywhere. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: Arthur_itus Date: 03 Nov 10 - 07:02 PM Blimey, I am doing a Kendall now and apologising. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: Arthur_itus Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:58 PM I must bow to your superiority John and must therefore offer my apologies. Atlantic Salmon is best but only if caught in Scotland. :-) |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:55 PM Sorry Arthur, but if it was caught in Scotland it was undoubtedly Atlantic Salmon, aka Salmo Salar. It's the only kind you get there/here. However I agree, that freshly caught wild salmon is unbeatable. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: Arthur_itus Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:44 PM I had the most beautiful salmon in Scotland. We were in a lovely holiday home at Lochness. The family run pub which was a house converted downstairs were great. I visited them and asked if they could do a fresh salmon for my parents and my wife. He went off and fished a fresh salmon and served it that evening. We have never had better. You can kiss your arse to Altlantic Salmon - it doesn't compare. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: Ed T Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:37 PM "I've had Atlantic Salmon" Would that be cultured (grown in a farm) or fresh from the river or sea? Most Atlantic salmon that is sold today is farmed. There is a big difference. When a salmon is fresh from the sea, IMO, it is best. After awhile in fresh water, the taste is different...like with sea trout. Unfortunately, few folks get to taste wild Atlantic salmon today. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: gnu Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:13 PM True Bill. And a lot has to do with how food of any kind is cooked. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: Bill D Date: 03 Nov 10 - 06:09 PM I've had Atlantic Salmon, and I've had fresh Salmon in Alaska, and if I had $$$$$, the right kind of Pacific Salmon would be on my plate. de gustibus non disputandum |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: gnu Date: 03 Nov 10 - 05:59 PM Hmmm.... NOT as tastey. I agree Kendall. Atlantic salmon is my choice and I have tasted them all. In any case, fresh salmon of any kind is a tastey choice... "brain food", good for yer cholesterol and, believe it or not... a good feed of salmon will help you sleep better. No shit, me Mum swears by it and she has 84 years of experience to say so. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 Nov 10 - 04:41 PM Mike has gone to Florida, so the nearest he gets now, is Baked Alaska |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: kendall Date: 03 Nov 10 - 04:25 PM Not to upset KT or Alaska Mike, but I prefer the taste of Atlantic Salmon. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: gnu Date: 03 Nov 10 - 04:12 PM Hehehehee... Goik... Kendall would never Sockeye... he's Brilliant, fer sure. I just sucked back a fillet of Brilliant, simply fried in marg... deeeelicious. It is, indeed, The King of Fish. We get west coast salmon in the shops here too, but it doesn't sell anywhere near the price of Atlantic salmon. It's tastey, but it's AS tastey. |

It defines personality, not humor....*I* can see a lot of opportunities to twist a remark into a ribald joke...and I sometimes do. I just 'try' not to give in to every impulse. Some of my favorite jokes and one-liners are sexual-based....but perhaps not when the Queen is at dinner. Just me...as you is just you. *shrug* |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: gnu Date: 01 Nov 10 - 07:32 PM Oh... I gotta... yeah, I know, "again"... A Newfie buddy of mine always greeted with, "Whot yee got in yer mout me old cock?" Perfectly acceptable and not at all. Mostly not. As he always laughed when he uttered it. |
Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: catspaw49 Date: 01 Nov 10 - 07:22 PM Got some pretty half-baked ideas on this thread......and a few that are completely baked. Sorry Bill, I can make damn near anything into a sexual reference....LOL........I remember Steve Allen said that almost anything in the right context becomes sexual. One night he called "Big A" cleaners and asked what it would cost to clean his Big A. Another night he asked someone, "How's your Bruce?" and within days Bruce was being used for penis along with Dick, Peter, Johnson, Willie, John Thomas, etc. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: gnu Date: 01 Nov 10 - 02:51 PM When I was a teen, I once unloaded a 22 semi and pulled the trigger with the gun pointed directly into a mound of rotten logs and dirt. Bang. My old man, a small arms expert in the RCAF, was sitting with a cup of tea about 5 feet away. He said, "Here, let me see that." I sheepishly passed it to him and he put it in the trunk of the car and never said a word.... nor did I. |

Subject: RE: Kendall went off half cocked From: olddude Date: 01 Nov 10 - 02:43 PM Similar to doing a Half Cocked on a wheel gun is the hammer down on a .45 colt. Many people (including police and former military) don't like the full cocked and locked position so they will rest the hammer by lowering it down on a live cartridge. Yea .. I go nuts when I see this ... drop the firearm and bam it goes off. They just bypassed all the safety mechanisms that worked for 95 years without fail. |
