Don't be silly, kendall. The Greeks and Romans and people in the Renaissance had no trouble appreciating the beauty of both male and female nudes. Naked men are not intrinsically ugly or disgusting. When they're in good physical condition, they look absolutely great...just as does a healthy horse or a dolphin or an eagle or any other living creature that's in good condition.

I much prefer to look at nude women, yeah....but I see no reason why I should find a picture of a nude man repulsive in any way.

Now, Sean Connery....seems to me that the main thing Sean has going is that marvelous voice and accent, and the roguish expression in his eyes. He's so damned hairy that one might almost mistake him for some sort of missing link...but when he opens his mouth and speaks, THEN you get what the fuss is about. ;-)

Sean Connery has always oozed sexuality and no amount of nudity will actually make that improve in my opinion. The man just 'has it' but quite what 'it' is is harder to define. Martin Shaw affects me the same way. Of course, the voice helps too and that can never be available in a picture.

In a way nudity takes away something. Curiosity maybe, if you are that way inclined, but it is sometimes to be left with imagination as your brain is the biggest sex organ you have. Then again, it's not always about sex either...

There are lot of men I would love to meet but would not want to wake up with. Dinner is just fine lol

Photo in today's Guardian. Try their website. You only see his bum and he is wearing a thong and in 1951 that would be odd. How old Shir Sean. I was 1 when that painting was done and I wonder if that is him.

Bryan Ferry is merely Bryan Ferry to me. Nothing more.

The most moving film I've ever seen Sean Connery in was 'Robin & Marian' where he starred alongside an older Audrey Hepburn. Both of them played their parts with absolute tenderness and love. It was so moving.

I've always had the feeling that Sean Connery loves women, not for their 'animalistic' side, like James Bond would, but for who they are inside their souls.....Perhaps that's why he's stayed happily married to the same lady for decades now. I'm sure they've had many warm smiles, loads of love and lots of twinkly-eyed moments in their lives.



Could I also point out that if this thread had been about Marilyn Monroe, or some other femme fatale, and men had come on here making some of the lewd and deeply sexist comments that I've seen being written here by some women, all hell would have broken loose from The Sisterhood.

The men would have been hauled over the coals for even daring to pass the merest sexual comment, of course, let alone some of the ones above...Steam would have risen, not of a sexual nature, but of an Indignant one...

Funny, ain't it, how some within The Sisterhood have one rule for men, and one rule for themselves..?

I wonder why this is?

I've always felt that men have been dealt a very hard deal due to feminism, in that they are, seemingly, no longer allowed to display any natural attraction towards women, whilst women seem to think they have absolute freedom to discuss men in the most lewd, clinical and sexual way, without any complaints whatsoever...

Where is this weird world where Lizzie lives? I see men showing affection to their friends, girlfriends and wives everywhere I go. And no one thinks twice about it. UKers too so it can't just be a US thing.
And though a few are outspoken about women as sex objects here on Mudcat, they are in the minority. I saw aboslutely nothing sexist or lewd in any of the comments above. Nor would I if they were made about Marilyn Monroe.

Connery made Harrison Ford look sexless in the Indiana Jones series. The eyes, the body, the attitude - it is all a package. He seems to enjoy being himself.

As with most men, I believe, these Hollywood types are a fantasy. I would no more want to spend an evening with Sean Connery than with Karl Rove. I prefer keeping the fantasy alive.

A friend of mine had a terrible crush on the ice skater with the famous haircut - can't think of her name. But she personified sweetness and talent and feminine charm in public. He had the misfortune to sit next to her on an airplane. She was the perfect bitch through the whole flight. Poor guy was really down about it. Careful what you wish for, you might get it.

The natural attraction was first. Men have willies and women a place to put them. Animal attraction and animal nature. Some men are still like that but I totally refute that men cannot and must not be affectionate in public.

Men and women, have evolved and I see public displays of affection all the time coming from men with no retribution by women. Being genuinely feminist is not about hating or despising men. Men can still, and do pass, comment without action being taken against them. Rightly so. What has been stopped is those men who would try and use power to gain them favour with a woman and if she did not play along she would be discriminated against.

Yes, some have over reacted and took the law to punish men but not all women are like that. Not all feminists are like. And certainly not all men are Neanderthals waiting to prey on women. I believe we are now moving in law back toward the middle of the extemes and that men and women are finding themselves again by attraction AND affection.

As is being postulated in another thread, there will always be those where love (affection) plays no part with sex. But, generally, I also believe men and women, whilst sometimes feeling totally feral about sex, prefer the affection route to getting it. Those who would use power to secure sex - men or women - should be checked in law in the workplace and other areas.

Men are not being denied attraction and affection. They are being denied the right to procure sex by power. Most men do not choose that route and I see no evidence in this thread, or others where this has raised up as a topic, that men feel put down by women. I find it rather refreshing that so many men stand up and talk about their need for affection and their willingness to express it in relationships. Women do not have quite as much power as is suggested, I feel, and where the damage has been done - as with all things - is when extreme views are pressed home.

Attractioan and affection can and do exist in heaps. For BOTH genders with both genders and every combination thereof. Long may that be the case.

Actually, the FSGW Getaway is a good example of the fact that men can openly show affection without any problem. I am unable to count the number of warm hugs that I got from both male and female at what is often an annual meeting. Kendall probably got more than I did and that's fine.

The majority of my male friends will greet me with a hug and, quite often, a kiss - a lovely way of saying hello.

I consider myself to have feminist leanings - when I worked I did the same job as my male co-workers and was paid at the same rate. I see no reason why, as a female, I should be treated as a second class citizen just because I wasn't born with a penis.

I do object to the sort of nasty sexual innuendo that my boss occasionally used, but then I also objected to the sort of treatment that he would dish out to my co-workers. I had a problem with the guys who held conversations with my breasts, rather than look me in the eye. However, lighthearted banter by either sex doesn't make me swoon or want to go screaming from the room - give and take makes for easy relationships.

By sheer fluke, I happened to see one of these nude pictures of Sean Connery today. The Royal Scottish Academy has an exhibition tying in with the 80th (?) birthday of the local artist/entrepreneur Richard Demarco. Demarco was a student at the Edinburgh College of Art in 1952, at which point Connery was earning a few bob modelling there.

Demarco's picture is a rather unappealing blurry thing with the figure of Connery about 8 inches high wearing a sort of loincloth. Other students in the class must have drawn or painted him better.
