Gawdamn.......I am so sorry.......I only was on briefly during this thread and I missed this thread completely. Now that I know.....well, like, uh.....get better and all , ya' know?

So..........Tell me, I don't give a shit about your gitar pickin' but, and thinking of shit, how's your ass wipin' going? See, that's critical and a lot more entertaining as a story than the fact that you're going to have to leave the ax alone for awhile.   Even if you still have your good hand to use, I had another friend in a similar situation who fell off the john because he used the bad hand to sort of balance in a cramped restaurant stall. Now HE had a great story!

Work on yours.................

Spaw

Of course, now I can barely take out the trash, and raking the lawn is definitely out of the question.

So that's why you did it!

Seriously though, hope you mend as quickly as humanly possible. (It's obvious your sense of humor hasn't suffered...)

"Best geniuses"? You talkin' to me? This entire episode would tend to indicate I lack even the most elementary reasoning skills. Of course, now I can barely take out the trash, and raking the lawn is definitely out of the question.

Well, we don't want Fate messing with any of our best geniuses, do we?

Moral: do NOT exercise, and if you MUST exercise, do it by taking out the trash and raking the lawn, NEVER on a machine.

Kilt? Funny you mention that. I'm wearing one now. It's the "Easy Breezy Tartan" model from McDangle's of Dundalk. I have trouble unbuckling my claymore though.

About the itching, they say that the brain doesn't really differentiate, so when your hand itches, scratch (with what? t'other one.

Where the hell is Spaw? Okay, I'll try to offer a proxy comment:

I'm hoping that isn't your "business" hand. I mean, how hard is it going to be to wipe your ass?

Hey, is this going to interfere with your sex life?

Gawdmmit Lonesome!! This is carrying your "lame" excuse-making one damn step too far. You do NOT mess with the hand that plucks the Martin, ever.

Listen talk to your hand and apologize for being a jadrool. Mebbe it'll forgivre you like and heal right up, providing you promise to take it to the Getaway.

Honest to God, son, this is not a good way to get sympathy. Not thaty it doesn't work, but still...

Heal that puppy clean and straight, buddy. Mebbe you should get a new handle once you're playing again--"Dead Hand Ernie" has a nice ring to it...

well, gang, the Getaway is not happening for me, conflicting with the Ft Worth trade show again. hopefully the stars will differently align next year.
I appreciate all the well-wishes and can feel my hand healing. Of course...that ITCHES LIKE HELL.

Sorry to hear of this and am sending you all kinds of love, light, good thoughts, thanksgivings and a peck on the cheek, even, to heal up, quickly and thoroughly.

Some Mudcat mojo heading your way from Köln. Many, many years ago a martial arts trainer told me never to train with anything other than the weight of my own body. It is also cheaper and you need less space! Glad to hear that the injury is going to heal. Keep us posted how the recovery is going!

Thank God you can still play the banjo and drink!

That'll teach you about that fitness stuff. If you were meant to lift heavy weights you'd have been born a crane and if you were meant to run some irate father'd be shootin' at ya.

In the meantime, from one recovering one-handeer to another...wiping is going to be hard for a while and I suggest wearing loafers instead of shoes that you have to tie.

Why, in the name of all that's holy, were you in Iowa????

Hope recovery is speedy, as painless as possible and complete and that the harmonica gets a good workout in the meantime.
(I'll leave the one-handed occupational jokes to 'Spaw too.)

Last Tuesday I was in Iowa and working out at the hotel fitness room when the weights got jammed in the track on the Nautilus machine. Never try to unjam a weight machine with your hand! Bottom line is I received a crush injury to my left hand with five fractures. None required surgery or pinning, but I'm in a cast and will probably have to go through a couple of months of therapy afterwards.

So my Martin 6 string will be quite lonely for a while. I expect a good recovery, but will likely be left with considerable stiffness in my fingers for some time. It is cause for some concern, and I appreciate any positive thoughts, wishes, prayers, or even good-natured sarcasm (Spaw, I mean)as I heal.

LEJ
