Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Jun 21 - 10:27 PM You're a better woman than I, Keberoxu, for hunting that down. I was only willing to try ^F on the page I was on. :) The lightening bugs are sending signals, via tiny pulses of light, if any of you care to come sit in the yard watching to interpret the meaning. So far they're telling me "Watch out for the mosquitoes." |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 28 Jun 21 - 10:03 PM Ain't none. I was up that way a couple weeks ago and there ain't no snow to be had. Try the ski jump. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 27 Jun 21 - 09:13 PM "Robot" comes from the Czech word "Robota" (meaning "forced labor") and was created by Karl Capek in his 1920 play Rossum's Universal Robots. It's an interesting play and you should read it. Better yet, recite is out loud or stage it. After all, drama is meant to be staged. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 26 Jun 21 - 04:21 PM Meanwhile, we have not heard from Little Hawk, in spite of the fact that McGonagall, immortalized in "Pegasus Descending" , is being repeatedly invoked in, heaven help us, a thread in the music section about the "OBON" song. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 26 Jun 21 - 03:54 PM Is that "Robot Gremlins" quote from a post as old as I believe it is? I attempted a search and found myself in the first hundred posts to this thread, so that is going back a year or two. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 26 Jun 21 - 01:03 PM I didn't like Gremlins when somebody had to drive them. Robot ones would be even worse. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: gnu Date: 25 Jun 21 - 11:12 PM SRS - "Robot Gremlins who have developed an unhealthy interest in Our Dear Mother, ..." Very upsetting to hear! |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 25 Jun 21 - 07:38 PM wait till tue. Define tight ship. Drunken sailors aboard? A spic and span ship? No leaks in the boat? Strict chain of command? |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 24 Jun 21 - 09:53 PM Ebbie lives in Juneau and is good friend of KT Fanning. Our weather wasn't bad at all today except that only about six drops of water fell from the sky. We had lunch and dinner on the veranda and it was quite pleasant. It would have been nicer if I hadn't lost my keys to the PO box and the house. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 24 Jun 21 - 06:36 PM Amos did, indeed, run a tight MOAB ship. Meantime the Annex thread is catching up to the what's-the-weather-like thread. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 24 Jun 21 - 05:45 AM I like the present tense Ebbie is in picturesque Alaska and is quite a character tid bits; Today I may make a serious post. Al Franken is going on a comedy tour. Rap may cook if he doesn't take precautions. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Jun 21 - 11:39 PM Not a mod (not here, anyway), and doesn't he have a sister on Mudcat? Is that Ebby? I may be all wrong about that, but I thought that was the case. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 23 Jun 21 - 01:40 PM I wish I had known he was a mod as well as a talented lyricist and song writer. I admire his penchant for science. Do you know of brothers&sisters, birth order etc.? |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Jun 21 - 11:01 AM We do miss Amos. He ran a tight ship around here. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Jun 21 - 02:02 AM The weapon of choice around here is the flyswatter. Darned mosquitoes are everywhere. I think they ride in on the dogs. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 19 Jun 21 - 03:50 PM 60s? By 1987 even orange sunshine changed color. Brown sunshine does not sound appealing but it still worked with the tiniest of tricky licks or a miniscule scraping into the high school reunion punch bowl. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 19 Jun 21 - 11:35 AM In 2007 Abisinthe became legal again in the US. It tastes like licorice. However I see no reason one would want to block their GABA receptors. The plastic tub I was storing it in became upended somehow, mixing the opened abisinthe with blue Hypnotique and Grey Goose. The colors did not mix evenly and reminded me of a tropical beach going from deep blue to light green when put in a clear bottle. When shaken with a tincture of homeopathic magic mushrooms there was an additional psilocybin 'blueing' to an indescribable deep turquoise that would lighten as one watched the liquor grow still. It was all alcohol based so I don't understand how it behaved like a living azeotrope. Its gone now but a color changing liquor would sell well today. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 18 Jun 21 - 09:14 PM Single malt? Irish or Scotch? I have both, both well aged and excellent brands. I also have a bottle of Wyoming Whiskey, a bottle of rye and a bottle of bourbon from Butte, a bottle of gin from Moab, UT, and about half a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle's Reserve (NOT the Family Reserve) bourbon. This is also 750ml of Lamb's 151 proof navy rum, plus odds and ends such as poteen. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 18 Jun 21 - 06:55 AM I had a bottle of 30 year old single malt Scotch that I bought fresh for my Irish mother in law visits. A real Shicker as a goy piece of work. I found that declaring an income of half a million for a credit card carries more debt forgiveness. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 15 Jun 21 - 09:10 PM Mom, can you let me have a couple of hundred? Yes, I know I haven't paid back the last couple of hundred, but I am your favorite. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 15 Jun 21 - 08:49 AM It's just mere money, Mom. Remember what Thomas More said: "They much more admire and detest the folly of those who, when they see a rich man, though they neither owe him anything, nor are in any sort dependent on his bounty, yet, merely because he is rich, give him little less than divine honours, even though they know him to be so covetous and base-minded that, notwithstanding all his wealth, he will not part with one farthing of it to them as long as he lives!” So, spend it and get it over with and eliminate covetousness from your life. That's my sage advice, Mom. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 14 Jun 21 - 08:57 PM Never mind, Mom. I got a grip on the grip problem. Expensive, but now I've finally gotten a grip! Now to sort out the problem of what keys got with what padlocks around this place. I'm giving a bunch away, so if you want to lock up the liquor cabinet from Stilly just let me know. |
