I've managed to not watch any of the last couple of full cycles of Olympics. Especially with how stage-managed it all is - what they decide to show versus what might actually be happening. #TimeSaved

If you follow small countries like Wakonda or Wydia your viewing will be limited.

Its funny to see Putin sitting alone maskless and bored out of his skull. There is an olympic logo of a Chinese snowflake and true to form they are ALL alike.

I don't think China should be hosting these games and I won't be taking any interest. I understand that athletes have been "strongly advised" not to air matters of human rights abuses in public. Yeah, right. When in China, do what the Chinese are forced to do....

I pay for Sling TV and see they have a couple of dedicated Olympics channels (via NBC). Most of what I learn about the Olympics will be via the posts that comedian/actor Leslie Jones (https://www.instagram.com/lesdogggg/) posts on her Instagram account. Those are her funny shots of the TV with a running commentary.

Good to know Putin was bored. It will probably be turned into memes, though perhaps not as entertaining as those of Bernie Sanders on his folding chair with hat and mittens at last year's inauguration.

It's a pity that Team GB entered the stadium for the opening ceremony with the Union Flag being carried upside down.

Maybe they thought they were in Australia.

Or maybe they're in distress before the Games even get started.

A good replacement for the olympics are fun Australian movies;

The Nugget
The Man Who Sued God

I've never been interested in sport on television, but this year's Olympic Games hits a nadir of boredom for me. The Canadian media focus (as usual) on hockey, with the occasional glance at the skiers and skaters. The political commentary has nothing new to add.

Yawn.

Think 1936, complete with token oppressed minority from the host country.

Not exactly a very scenic location this time: alongside the downhill ski run are several large cooling towers and other industrial buildings! Can we have Switzerland, Canada or Norway next time?

The flag may be upside down, or it could just be a poorly designed flag. The picture in The Scotsman appears to show a flag (bottom right corner at least) where there is no difference in the width of the white stripes.

I saw the token Weeger child at the opening ceremony.
I bet none of the athletes are respondsible for the unsavory attitudes of the games this time around. The international olympic commitee is a private business or con game depending on your pov.

I don't agree. The bottom corner clearly shows white stripes of different thickness. Here is a better picture from the Daily Mail, 7 Feb 2022 in which there is no mistake that the flag is upside down.

Yes, a clearer picture, and clearly upside down.

Thanks.

I'm surprised not to see any commentary on the potboiler drama
that was women's figure skating.

Terrible, wasn't it. God knows why we have Olympics with Russia and China included. The manipulation and merciless exploitation of young people, especially girls, in skating and gymnastics, and more, is inhuman. It makes me sick.
