Subject: Lyr Add: GROUND HOG (Tony McPhee) From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Oct 09 - 02:43 PM You can hear this song at YouTube. The lyrics below are copied from the accompanying text: GROUND HOG Tony McPhee It's a lowdown dog, 'n' dirty groundhog, been rootin' round my back door. It's a lowdown dog, 'n' dirty groundhog, been rootin' round my back door. Yes, if I catch him there rootin', well, he won't root there no more. Yes, I leave in the morning and he hang around all day long. I leave home in the morning and he hangs around all day long. Yes, when I leave in the morning, yes, he hang around all day long. Give me some toads 'n' frogs' hips. I'm gonna mix 'em up together, Mix 'em up good, mix 'em up together, kill that dirty groundhog. Then when I leave home in the mornin', yes, he won't be there all day long. I said goodbye, baby. Baby, got to leave you now. I said goodbye, baby. Baby, got to leave you now. Yes, I did what I wanted. Yes, I killed that dirty groundhog. [Recorded by The Groundhogs, 1971.] |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Groundhog From: Steve Latimer Date: 29 Jun 00 - 10:12 AM Llanfair, Are you referring to the one that goes something like: Groundhog, Groundhog, What makes your back so brown, brown, what makes your back so brown? Well I've been living in the ground for so darn long, it's a wonder I don't drown, drown, it's a wonder I don't drown. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the above verse, but if this is the one you're after I can get you a lot of the lyrics. My sister does this one, but I'm not sure if she knows all of the verses. She does one about a Redbird, a Rattlesnake and one or two more. It's a beauty. Steve |
Subject: Groundhog From: Llanfair Date: 28 Jun 00 - 07:45 PM Not the one in the Digitrad. Jim wants the lyrics to this song by British blues band The Groundhogs. The album was called "Split" Hwyl, Bron. |
