Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: mousethief Date: 31 Oct 00 - 09:25 AM Smoles? Is that like snogs? Lovely song, Roger! Effective use of repetition. I'd like to hear the melody sometime. Amergin, your song is chilling. It's well crafted but I can't say I "like" it if you know what I mean! Which means you did your job well!

Here's another one of mine.....
The Game
His cousin is at her work
They go into his darkened bedroom
He lies upon his bed, face down Amergin.... |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Date: 28 Oct 00 - 10:38 AM As usual, dear Lodger, you've shared a wonderful song with us. As soon as my 'slightly used brand new' PC is up and running (hopefully this weekend), I'll add your latest offering to the Book. Smoles to you and the missus, Áine |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: The Shambles Date: 28 Oct 00 - 10:13 AM Lady Of Substance
I see you're gonna be a lady of substance
The world is at your feet but you don't see it
So hard to please to ones who love you

Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Date: 24 Oct 00 - 11:03 AM Those are two extra special songs there, Alex. Thanks so much for sharing them with us all. Although I'm back online now (after being oppressed by AT&T for a whole dang week!), my PC has bitten the dust in the meantime. This means that I won't be able to upload your songs into the Songbook until I can either get a new motherboard or load the editor software onto Dear Hubby's PC. I promise to get them in the Book ASAP, mousethief!! -- Áine |

Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: mousethief Date: 20 Oct 00 - 06:34 PM This is a lullabye I wrote before I ever had any kids. WARNING: this is religious. People who hate religion or things with religious topics, skip to next song. Chords are FMaj7 and C, alternating, throughout (starting on FM7), two chords per "line" of the words as written here. this clicky takes you to a page with an embedded midi of the melody (melody is same for chorus as for verses) (It's a little rough in the timing area, for which I apologize -- I haven't quite got the midi-maker program sussed yet.)
To a Child
(Chorus -- repeat after each verse and twice at end)
Once there was a baby child
Once there was a preacher-man
Once I was a child like you ©1983 Alex E. Riggle. All Rights Reserved. ------- Once I get this midi thing figured out I'll post melodies for some of my other songs. I'll probably make pages at my site like with this one. Thanks for listening!

Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Amergin Date: 19 Oct 00 - 09:12 PM My God, Alex, I second MMario's response....speechless... BTW Thx for your kind words, Alex, and MA.... Amergin |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: MMario Date: 19 Oct 00 - 08:06 PM Alex - goosebumps....very powerful |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: mousethief Date: 19 Oct 00 - 06:06 PM This one is kinda dark and graphic. But it expresses something that needs to be expressed, and which is very close to my heart -- stopping and preventing domestic violence. I'm still working on the tune; it's a sort of descending-notes-of-the-scale sort of thing (cf. "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger, but different).
The Strength to Leave
His supper's late again, he says;
(Chorus)
Again he rips her dress away (repeat chorus)
Once there was a little girl (repeat Chorus)

Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Date: 30 Sep 00 - 09:16 PM Dearest Amergin, Yes, darlin', I did get your PM -- Watch this space tomorrow ;-) (That pesky ole real life is hindering the Keeper of the Book - we're finally putting this old house on the market and repairs must be made *BG*. Just picture me painting, packing, and ripping up carpet...now I just have to find a wee St. Jo to bury in the yard...) -- Áine |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Amergin Date: 30 Sep 00 - 08:07 PM Good songs folks! Aine, did you get my PM? |
Subject: RE: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Date: 26 Sep 00 - 10:03 AM I've added two very thought provoking songs by newbie MichaelAnthony this morning, Death Row Caddy I and Death Row Caddy II. Both of these songs were co-authored by Dirty, who's not a Mudcatter (yet). You can learn more about him by reading this thread. A little bird told me that we could be hearing these songs on the Mudcat Radio soon -- I sure hope so. Thanks to MichaelAnthony for sharing these songs with us. -- Aine |
Subject: Part VIII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Date: 25 Sep 00 - 03:24 PM Here we go with our EIGHTH thread listing new additions to the Mudcat Songbook - well, it just goes to show how fantastic you Mudcatters are!
