Nancy & I and the Toledo Folk Music Club (Oregon) will be having Gordon in concert Thursday November 9th at 7pm. We are located 50 miles west of Corvallis, Oregon on US Hiway 20, just seven miles from the Pacific Ocean. Would love to have as many Mudcatters and others as possible. Call Nancy or myself at 1 541 336 5743.......

Somebody tell him how lovely Northern California is. He comes through here very rarely. Thank God for recordings!

I wish their farewell tour had made it further west. There are folkies west of the Alleghanies. Sigh.

But I'll get to see Gordon when he's in Seattle in November, which is no small consolation.

I think they would have approved of that as an alternative, Allison (with 2 Ls), and would be proud of having contributed songs to the event.

Naemanson, I'm going to hold you to it!
Wow, Sandy and Art both together on this thread- great to see you! I was wondering what had happened to you both!
As it happened, I got invited to a spontaneous sing-around that night, so we sang lots of BM&T songs to console ourselves.

Saw them near the beginning of this farewell tour. Not much I can add to what folks have said. These folks are singers that the bards listen to. The night I saw them Gordon was suffering mightily with a cold, but what he couldn't sing, he played on the cello. What and amazing trio. If you don't have the whole collection, get it.

Ed's CD, Echoes on the Evening Tide, is simply spectacular. The first time I heard it I swiped the song "Broken Hand" immediately. Where does this man find these wonderful songs??????

Mick

The 3 of 'em have always been favorites of mine---all together and separately. They're gonna be missed. New recordings by them will be eagerly gobbled up at our place.

Trouble is, Kendall, my reference to it somehow lost its title! I must have hit the brackets wrong. Ed Trickett's new CD, good people, it titled Echo on the Evening Tide. Sorry for adding my senior moment to Kendall's. This getting old really bites!

I had a "senior moment" Sandy, sorry about that. I kid you not, Eds new tape is damn close to perfect. There is NOTHING on it that I dont like. Hear that Max? Max said I hate everything...not so, just the stuff he likes!

Ending of an era? I certainly hope not. However, if the occasional gig is all we'll get, we'll settle for that and be gl;ad to have it.

Ed's , by the way, is available as a CD, too, which our good ol' buddy Kendall failed to mention. You can order it via the Folk-Legacy web site which has a link you can reach via the line at the top of the page here. Be sure to mention the Mudcat when ordering.

Sandy (always hustling, it seems like!)

Note that, as Kendall pointed out, they will be doing individual gigs occasionally. Where better than at the Chocolate Church? If it happens, Animaterra, you can sleep on my futon. You have first dibs.

*Weeping profusely* I finally got up the gumption to announce that I was going tonight; called the number to reserve a tick- and they're sold out!!! Well, I saw them years ago in Waltham, Mass., and I'll always have that lovely memory. And maybe they'll do another comeback some day...

I was at the same show as Kendall. I need to second what he said and add one more thing. I worked selling their CD's and cassettes during the show so I heard a lot of what was said about them among the people who came rushing to the table at intermission and after the show.

There were people who had never heard them before and others who were old friends. Some came looking for teir most recent recording, others came looking for their first one. All were happy and glowing with the experience.

And towards the end of the show, when they asked for the audience to sing along, the rafters of the old church rang with the power of so many voices joined on such a pleasant and poignant communion. It was a fitting farewell. I know I do not speak for only myelf when I say that I shall miss them as a trio.

Yes, Hartford was the 1st time Duane & I had seen them in person, too, & I echo what the others have said. Like you, kendall, we have all of the recordings they've made together & much of their individual work as well. I enjoyed looking around at the concert crowd. Never saw so many glowing, satisfied expressions in my life (except, perhaps, at last year's D.C. Getaway)! It was bittersweet to be there, but I hope there's another joint cd to come of it! :) And, yes, it was a pleasure to meet Tiger & Nora.

best,

bbc

Right on, Kendall. We saw them in Hartford (for the FIRST time).

I've loved their music for years, but this evening was like a religous experience. They are totally enchanting, whatever they sing. Also, some of the nicest folks I've met - all three were very accessible and chatty during the break.

The Sounding Board (host group) presented Annie with a violin stand and a book in which all (hopefully) of the 450 attendees had written best wishes notes to her.

An awesome experience.

PS: Met bbc and DuaneD there, nice to see you guys.

They're here tonight, for the LAST night of all, and I'm on mother-in-law duty. I don't know if I can stand it. Maybe I'll just have to sneak out and pay the consequences tomorrow...

I have never had the pleasure of seeing them; but I have some of their recorded stuff and it is good.

Folk-Legacy has put out some CDs called "Bok, Muir & Trickett The First Fifteen Years," which is worth looking into if you haven't collected the records as they came out.

Amen to that, Kendall. I was at the concert in Bedford, which is fortunately just down the road from my sister's in Lexington where I'd been visiting. I've seen Gordon solo many times, but this was the first time I'd ever seen the trio perform. What an absolutely delightful evening! Like being in the living room with three good friends sharing wonderful music. And they did several songs that have not been recorded, which may tell us something... I count myself fortunate to have been there.

Aloha,
Mark

I just got home from the penultimate TBM concert in Bath Maine. These folks have given us 26 years of joy, and they were nothing short of great. By the end of the concert, I had to borrow some Kleenex from a lady behind me.(Had something in my eye) They will do an occasional gig, but touring is no more. Annie lives in France, Ed lives in Chicago and Gordon in Camden, so, touring is just too much. They have made 9 albums/tapes/cds over the years, and, I have every one of them. Each has made his/her own recording of their stuff, and I have all of them too! I'm especially impressed with Eds new tape, "Echos on the evening tide" Outstanding, one of the very best tapes I have ever heard.
