Ah the glorious few are all the fewer here
For the glorious few no longer stands so straight
The heads are bowed in silence now
The taste of lost and wasted years
For the glorious few are all the fewer here |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: 11:11 -- for Memorial Day From: Donuel Date: 11 Nov 01 - 03:59 PM Veterans Day by Don Hakman ----------------------------- Remember the Maine Main what? Remember the Alamo? I thought you had it Remember the Revolution Whose? If we lived 700 years instead of 70 wars would be few but Veterans day would be HUGE |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: 11:11 -- for Memorial Day From: Clinton Hammond Date: 11 Nov 01 - 04:21 PM I still don't get it... define "THEY" and lay it out.. What lesson do you want "THEY" to learn? No war??? Please... that's ignorant, naive wishful thinking... (not that that's ALL bad, but between where we are now, and that sort of Star Trekian utopia are a lot of miles and even more generations...) Wars happen and Remembrance day is not about lamenting that fact... it's about being thankful as hell that those who fought and died did so, so that we who came after could benefit from the spilling of their blood! To use Remembrance day (or whatever you wanna call it) as a time for "protest" cheapens the acts of valour that veterans have committed... Talk about ingrates... I hope there is an afterlife where I can meet every single allied soldier from ww2 and thank them that I didn't have to live in a world dominted by men like Hitler and his flunkies! Good show men... thank you very much |

You are welcome to your view of what this day is about. I trust that you will be prepared to allow others to hold theirs.
It is quite wrong for you to use this thread to insult people who you believe do not share your view, as no one here has even challenged that view.
It is a insult to the very freedoms the veterans you claim to honour, fought and died to protect. Argue if you wish with Pete Seeger about the word THEY. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: 11:11 -- for Memorial Day From: Clinton Hammond Date: 11 Nov 01 - 05:37 PM Bring him on! LOL!!!!!! All I want to know is who this alleged "THEY" is... People are always talking about them, but no ones seems to know who exactly THEY are... I thnk it's a case of scapegoating, myself... By people more concered with what the nameless faceless "THEY" are doing and not paying enough attention to what they themselves could be doing.... |
