Subject: RE: T-shirt season From: Barry Finn Date: 24 Apr 98 - 09:15 AM Hi Susan, I thanked Dick for getting my shirts out so quickly ( always last minute here), I'll be sporting them at NEFFA this weenend, just in case & at Mystic too. Just a note on Mystic. While still a full blown sea music festival, the focus has slightly shifted this year, to include the music from the Afro American worksong tradition, that contributed so much to what is now sea music. The line up is a little different from when I lasted posted. The Northern Neck Shanty Singers won't be there (sob), John Hardford will be, along with Odetta, the Buckingham Lining Bar Gang, Gordon Bok, Cindy Kallet, Mystic Seaport Chanteymen, John Conolly & Pete Sumner, Kat yn't Seil, the Nex Tradition, Holdstock & Holdstock & MacLoed & Murphy, Dick Swain & Nancy Mattila, Pint & Dale, Marge Bruchac, Finn & Haddie, Doug Day, the Beans, Glenn Grasso, Ken Sweeney, Jeff Warner, Bob Webb, Bob Zentz, Margaret McCandless, Compass Rose, the Golden Eagle String Band, & I'm guessing that Marc B (Mudcatter) maybe part of the seaport staff & of their Chanteymen, Marc are you? Anyway a push for the T-Shirts & the Festival. Barry |
Subject: T-shirt season From: Susan of DT Date: 24 Apr 98 - 05:22 AM It is getting into festival season, at least in the Northern hemisphere, and few have purchased T-shirts yet. How are we all going to recognize each other without them? Dick and I are going to the New Jersey Folk Festival at Rutgers this weekend, Mystic (CT) Sea Music Festival the second weekend in June, Old Songs (Altamont, NY near Schnectady) the last weekend in June, and probably Champlain (Burlington VT) in August. If you like sea music at all and are anywhere near CT, this should not be missed. Both the setting and the music are marvelous. Mystic Seaport is a restored port town with old ships large and small. Sing shanties on a real whaling ship... Hope to see you at some of these |
