I saw this on another forum, thought it might be fun here. Share ten things about yourself that aren't well known. They can be silly or serious. Just don't share anything too incriminating. It's interesting to see what people come up with.

Here's mine:

1. I have never been on an airplane (or stung by a bee).

2. Despite my screen name, more of my ancestors hailed from England and Scotland than Ireland.

3. I like peanut butter sandwiches without the jelly.

4. I started piano lessons at six years of age.

5. I am deathly afraid of ghosts even though I don't believe in them.

6. Rain is my favorite kind of weather.

7. I've seen every Seinfeld episode multiple times and I still laugh at most of them.

8. I have had a part of my body other than my ears pierced.

9. My college majors include Engineering, French, Comparative Literature, Audiology, English, and Information Technology but I still don't have a Bachelor's degree.

10. I have been engaged twice and got cold feet twice, so I'm still single.

1. I have been in the Louis L'Amour book club for eight years and still haven't gotten all the books.

2. I still buy stuffed animals - for myself.

3. I can barely get out of any toy store without buying something - for myself.

4. I collect Disney movies.

5. I cry during most of them, especially Pinocchio, Dumbo, and Monsters Inc.

6. I have three tattoos, but most of you knew that already.

7. I routinely have an average of six different lipsticks in my purse.

8. I sleep with a teddy bear when I'm sick.

9. I have to use a kid-size toothbrush because my mouth is small.

10. I am a big fan of the PowerPuff Girls and Jackie Chan.

KimC, you'd get along great with my sister, who has a lot of Disney movies, but they are for her grandkids too. Her true obsession is Shirley Temple movies. Has them all. She doesn't buy stuffed animals, but really silly, whimsical toys. She was the first person I knew who owned one of those mounted singing animal things. Hers is a moose, and it hangs in her living room.

I just shake my head and smile.

1. Appeared in a newspaper ad for the closing of the New York World's Fair in 1965.

2. Completed two seasons of PAL baseball without getting a single hit.

3. Actually saw Charles Grodin's hairpiece - not on Charles Grodin's head.

4. Proud collector of comic books dating back to the 1960's.

5. Damn good cook.

6. Stood next to Howard Stern at a urinal in the Bottom Line. (I finished first)

7. Damn good homebrewer (mead too!)

8. Closet fiddle player. (If you heard me you would say I should stay in the closet)

9. Passionate soccer fan (suffering in a decidely non-soccer friendly environment)

10. Even more passionate Mets fan. (suffering in a decidely pro-Yankee environment)

Of course, once I post these, they won't be "obscure" any more, will they (at least, not among Mudcatters)?

But here goes:

1) I tend to remember at least part of all my dreams.

2) My dreams tend to be color-coded according to subject and/or theme (dreams about friends have a lot of green and yellow; dreams about family are muted browns and blacks; dreams about the supernatural are purple and red).

3) My greatest everyday fear is falling down stairs, or, if I'm motoring in my wheelchair, wheeling off the curb of a sidewalk, particularly if that curb is on my left side.

4) Ever since childhood, my running internal dialogue has been (mostly) in the form of literary narrative (as in: "Oh my," she thought, "isn't the sky blue today?", instead of simply registering "blue sky")

5) My favorite thing to draw when I was young (4 to 5 years old) was faces of men with mustaches and pipes, even though I do not remember knowing anyone like that.

(Halfway there!)

6) My favorite constellation is The Pleides.

7) My favorite birdsong is the long summer call of the hermit thrush.

8) I love peanut butter and bacon sandwhiches, though I haven't had one in years.

9) Even though child psychologists say it is impossible, my earliest enduring memory is from before I could speak.

10) There are only 9 obscure facts about me! ;-)

1. I, too, love PB and Bacon sandwiches.
2. I don't eat fish or shellfish -- and, as a scuba diver, fish aleways reciprocate by not eating me!
3. I've worked hard-rock mines with pick and shovel
4. I once shook hands with Andres Segovia.
5. Despite having been kicked out of several schools in my wilder days, I have an MS degree which I acheived late in life.
6. Frank Warner once rocked me to sleep when I was an infant.
7. I was once in a musical at the Carnegie Recital Hall (not the Music Hall) in New York
8. I sang the "Auctioneer" at a talent show in 5th grade but didn't win a prize; I was shut out by a cute pixie gamine who sang "I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No" and went on to live up to the promise...
9. I have dived commercially for a living, and also run a steam-driven ship for a living.
10. I recently won a Scrabble game by a margin of over 150 points, in part by starting the game with a seven-letter word.

Well here goes

1)I have sung in the choir of 3 programmes of Songs of Praise….Not being Christian this is obscure…I was there for the music!

2)I fall up or down the stairs daily.(awaiting the copy of "How to Land" when Tig has finished with it)

3)I only hurt myself when falling when I am sober!

4)I have a cat called Merlyn the Mogificent who like to swim in the bath.

5)I am asthmatic and make incense and bath salts.

6)I have 2 tattoos and am looking for someone who can draw to design my third!

7)I don't walk into a Disney Store unless I can afford to buy at least on Winnie the Pooh cuddly toy!

8)I tend to be allergic to milk.

9)I like marmite and cheese sandwiches with no margarine and butter.

10)I can't stand the smell of bananas or pineapple.

1) I sometimes find I'm editing or scrolling through my dreams using Varityper Comp-Edit commands.

2) I have the largest (perhaps the only!) collection of rubber squid in New Hampshire.

3) I know how to make rubberstamps and have the equipment to do so.

4) I mix a world class margarita.

5) I can tell the difference between male and female Eastern Box turtles.

6) As an artist's model, I can hold an unsupported standing pose for 40 minutes. (Used to, at least -- haven't tested it recently.)

7) I can differentiate between T-series MGs.

8) When I was a pre-teen, I used to sing "solos" (with another girl my age) in the junior choir of Greenfield Park Lutheran Church in West Allis, Wisconsin.

9) I'm violently allergic to blue mussels (Mytilus edilus).

10) My maternal great grandfather held the government franchise to trade with the Indians in northern Wisconsin.

I think most of these obscure fact will quickly fade back into obscurity. I, for one, won't be able to remember them -- not even my own!

1. I've read a lot of Vergil, Cicero and Caesar in Latin (as well as Horace, Catullus and others).
2. I have a tubby, long-haired cat named Squimmy who lost her tail as a kitten.
3. My favorite genre of fiction is children's books; having a grandchild has given me an excuse to buy them but I've always loved them.
4. I spent a couple of decades involved in a pretty offbeat religious organization.
5. I have a brother and sister who don't speak to me, haven't for years (not 'Catters, obviously), and two very wonderful brothers whom I love dearly.
6. I got my BA (Classics) when I was 43.
7. I used to write poetry, and I've started several novels but never finished one.
8. I took a few guitar lessons in my teens from Darius Brubeck, Dave's oldest son.
9. I took piano lessons as a kid but retained almost nothing, and then took lessons again when my own kids were small, and retained a very little bit more.
10. Although I really can't sing worth much, one of my favorite fantasies is of singing onstage to a small and pretty specific audience in Maine, at a particularly beloved place. The fantasy includes singing torchy American popular standards, or some Buddy Holly stuff, or "Will you still love me tomorrow". In fantasy, of course, I can outsing Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou combined.

1 I have been to both Archangel and South Georgia.
2 I have something in common with Rasputin, we have both been thru the ice in the river Neva.
3 I am dangerously allergic to fish (fresh and salt water) and sea food, seaweed etc, Don't offer me Sushi.
4 We (males in my family) seem to have a hereditary intolerance of Gin, it makes us Violent.
5 I used to (very past tense) be able to throw a knife in the air and catch it, point first, in my teeth.
6 I once punched Eric Clapton in the mouth.
7 I was a guinea pig in Cannabis trials in the early 70s, D-9-THC by injection and am very sensitive to the stuff since then and was PAID for getting high!!!
8 I delivered a baby in a goods lift (elevator).
9 I only learned to swim AFTER I had stopped going to sea as a sailor.
10 I only really started singing regularly 4 years ago (aged 50+)which I enjoy way too much, I have been writing songs for much longer

Fascinating what people are prepared to reveal about themselves! Most of the obscure facts that come to mind about myself I'd prefer to forget - quickly! Anyway, I'll make a start:

1. I was nearly killed by a gravestone as a child.
2. I've probably been to fewer European countries than most of my compatriots - and to nowhere outside Europe.
3.I can think of at least one sexy Scotsman ..

2. I once lost a scrabble game by 200 points. (My average is 125.)

3. I am not related to any one of the Beatles.

4. Though I think I have two college degrees, I am an idiot.

5. I did not have sex with Monika Lewinski.

6. I introduced Bruce Springsteen to the pinapple cheeseburger.

7. Though I have no idea what the ol' gal sees in my boney Wes Ginny butt, my wife P-Vine is one foxy lady.

1. I danced as a Gingerbread Man in Hansel & Gretel in high school, then we had a wonderful cast party at our house which was a big old Victorian. The paper ran a picture of a psychdelic sign we put at the end of the driveway which said "This way to the witch's house!" I didn't know how prophetic that was!

2. We might be related to Donald and Keifer Sutherland.

3. I have a knack for remembering numbers and doing sums in my head which drives my kids nuts.

4. I have three tattoos.

5. I won a beautiful baby contest. The prize was a studio portrait every birthday through age 6.

6. Maybe not so obscure: I love to read aloud.

7. Kids thought I was from Scotland when I was in grade school because of the accent I used.

8. I washed my doll clothes in an irrigation ditch and hung them to dry on a lilac bush when playing "pioneers."

9. My cats used to live outside!!! (Not the present crop and not ANY since about 25 years ago!)

10. I once stole my brother's cat back from an old man who trapped them in his backyard for sale to the pharmaceutical companies. It was quite clandestine. I snuck in, the cat was calling to me. I picked up the trap and cat, very heavy! and ran!! The old man chased me and called the cops!

well lets see io obscure facts about me, shouldn't be too hard since not a lot of people know me here.

1- I was born in beautiful downtown Burbank,Ca
2- I went trick or treating at Roy Rogers house in Apple Valley.
3-Richard Harris once picked me up while I was hitch hicking and
    offered to smoke a joint. I declined was late getting home.
4- I can't type worth a darn, oh wait a minute if you have read my
    other posts you would know that.
5- I have 9 kids and 8 grandkids.
6- I wrote my first song when I was around 6 or 7.
7- Other then country, I like almost every other kind of music, ok there is some country I can take , but nothing twangy.
8- Most of the house I have lived in are haunted.
9- I have a warped sense of humor.
10- I really am kinda shy but am trying to overcome it.

1. I shook hands with Captain Kangaroo when I was 6.

2. I met my hero, Grandpa Jones, and told him that he was a big influence on my music.

3. I played on the soundtrack for a hard-core pornographic movie. (no, I won't go into details).

4. As a kid, I wanted to be a policeman, fireman and sailor. I have done all three.

5. I am Mexican, Peruvian, Scottish, Dutch, Mayan and Cherokee.

6. In my 10th grade math class I sat in between Billy Joel and Virginia Callahan. She's the "Virginia" he sings about in "Only the Good Die Young".

7. While performing in a Brooklyn coffee house with my band, Peter Schikele (PDQ Bach) came in and accompanied us on the piano. He definately had a feel for old-time country music.

8. Leon Redbone complimented my harmonica playing, but not to my face; he asked someone else who I was, but then got side-tracked by another person, so I never got to be famous.

9. My maternal grandfather and his brother, and my maternal grandmother's brothers all worked as cowboys at some time in their lives. My ancestors hail from Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Idaho and Yucatan Province, but I was born in Brooklyn, grew up on Long Island, and now live in New Jersey. That's how unfair life is.

10. I have a newspaper clipping concerning an interview with my maternal grandmother's aunt written in 1946 on her 100th birthday, where she talks about traveling from Pennsylvania to Missouri with her family around 1850 by raft. (OK, that's not really about me, but I think it's cool to have real pioneers as ancestors.)

1- I became a folksinger at the age of five; Clementine in a local amateur hour.

2- I met Basil Rathbone while costumed for The Taming of the Shrew.

3- I was "Lead Boy" for Rev. Gary Davis at the Club 47.

4-I was one of two people to spend an evening alone with Rev Davis & Paul
    Geremia.

5-I used to write for the Broadside of Boston..

6-I was once a chimney sweep and first president of the state organisation.

7-I turned down a gig in a club with a mechanical bull.

I'm going to take some time off and follow Bobert's lead...that's better.

8-While working in Western Mass in the mid '60s, I regularly drove by a
    church that was inhabited by weirdos who rode motorcycles.

9-I own four firearms - two rifles, a revolver and a flint pistol.

10 - I am a registered Republican, but not for much longer!

1. I really was named after Batman (Bruce Wayne).

2. I had perfect attendance from the second through twelfth grades in school. (My mother had perfect attendance for all twelve years.)

3. I have had my ticket stub from the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival in my wallet since 1970. BTW that festival was the largest crowd to ever see Jimi Hendrix play.

4. My best friend in high school and I had consecutive social security numbers. We wound up being married to sisters. They may well be the only two sisters in the country that were married to guys with consecutive social security numbers.

5. Although I am a great fan of the Grateful Dead, I never saw them in concert.

6. I have never ridden a motorcycle on the street. (Dirtbikes, yes - Streetbikes -no)

7. Though I have lived near the ocean my entire life, I have never tried surfing.

8. I once found a $20.00 bill on the sidewalk. I lost it later the same day.

9. I really like peanut butter and jelly milkshakes.

10. I have never seen television footage of any of the events of 09/11/01. (Photos, yes - TV, no)

2.) I'm drug and alcohol free, ('xcept for coffee and a smidge o nicotine)

4.) Aside from a few uneventful music lessons as a kid (they didn't take) I didn't start playing music untill I was 19.
5.) I dig Baroque music, UK trad, and well crafted English Pop...
6.) I sincerely believe that a brand new set of guitar strings is better that sex. I'm not an enthusiast of casual sex... But apparently I'm a serial monogomist... maybe I'm a prude...
7.) I believe that Karl Marx would have been a lot better off if ..."he had spent as much time making capital, as he did writing about it."... *his mother's quote*... I also believe that he was really wrong about many of things, and absolutely correct about only a few...
8.) Though my life reflects my belief that "solitude is the school of genius", I love to perform, and wish wish wish I could tour Europe.

1. Although I've lived almost all my life in Seattle except for some side-trips, I was born in Los Angeles. Sort of an "artificial Seattle-ite."

2. I was fascinated by comic strips and started drawing seriously at the age of six. By the time I was thirteen, I had decided I was going to draw comic strips for a living. I still draw an irreverent cartoon or two now and then.

3. One of my high school English teachers submitted a story I wrote to the Atlantic Monthly high school short story contest. It didn't win, but it got an honorable mention.

4. Both of my sisters are national ice skating champions. My older sister, Mary, won the National Silver Dance Championship with her partner, Donald Laws, in 1949. My younger sister, Pat, won the Pacific Coast Ladies' Figure Skating Championship twice, National Junior Ladies' in 1953, and took a seventh place in the 1955 World Championships in Vienna. Both turned professional and taught skating.

5. Even though I had to do it leaning on a crutch (polio), I learned to fence, and fenced competitively for several years—not in Special Olympics or anything like that—in regular competitions. Won some trophies and medals, too. Got written up in the local newspapers.

6. I used to be a hard-charging fan of Ayn Rand. That was before I grew up and saw something of the real world.

7. After I fell in with questionable company such as Walt Robertson and Sandy Paton in the early Fifties, I got so involved in learning songs and learning to play the guitar that I came that —><—close to flunking out of college.

8. In the late Fifties/early Sixties I used to drink beer and argue politics in the Blue Moon Tavern with science-fiction writer Jerry Pournelle. This was before he sold his first novel and I didn't even know he was interested in writing.

9. I have every episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Northern Exposure, and two Britcoms, As Time Goes By and Good Neighbours on videotape. Workin' on Enterprise, but I'm not sure I'll keep those.

10. I didn't lose my virginity until I was twenty-six, but I lost it several times that night.

Bobert - The SS# thing is for real. Our whole school class was assigned social security numbers when we were in the eight grade. They were issued in alphabetical order. My buddy Doug's name came immediately after mine so he got the next number. It just happened that we stayed close friends for years, grew up and married sisters, though neither of us are married to them any more.

1. At age three weeks, I became an adoptee , but don't hold that against me, we're really like most everybody else.

2. I got a 45rpm record player when I turned eight. Also a 45 of Wilbert Harrison's "Kansas City" and played it til my mom finally hid it for a while.

3. Spent first 14 summers on Lake of the Woods, Ontario and learned not to kill any beast unless I needed food. (Thanks Smokey Fadden, wherever you are.)

4. Beat out terrible notes on my Granny's upright piano until she decided to try and show me how to play Sante Lucia.

5. Gave up on piano lessons after hearing Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" on a transistor while passing papers one winter morning. Immediately went down to the record shop and put five bucks down on a $40.00 Kay guitar.

6. Took black and white shots of Eugene McCarthy on the Hancock County, Indiana Courthouse steps and got to shake his hand. Also saw Melvin Belli in that same courthouse, but forget the case and how he managed to come to our small town.

7. Went to Canned Heat concert in Indianapolis and got to talk to Bob Hite after the show. My buddies and I immediately abandon psychedelic music and play blues records over and over trying to get the sound right.

8. Once played and sang "From a Buick 6" on a Steinway with a neckmounted harmonica at my high school talent assembly. The music teacher later said,"I never knew you were musical. Your singing voice is very ahhh..unusual." The class president gave me a chromatic harmonica. Everyone else did show tunes that day. I was a hit!

9. Once drove to Akron, Ohio to dig a tunnel under a railroad line in January with an alcoholic and a crazy cajun. The cajun eventually got sick of listening to Bob babbling and hit him so hard his feet came off the ground. Just like in a cartoon. I never laughed so hard in my life cause I'd about had it with him too.

10. I spend too much time on this machine here, but it's a lot of fun and beats digging tunnels in Akron hands down.
