I'm getting the impression that with the steady drip drip of publicity, maybe, our English tradition might be viewed in a better light in the future....maybe we should thank Kim Howells !!!
(or not!)
Go for it Eliza
Regards Ralphie

Here is the Woman's Hour "listen again" page. (Today's programme is not up yet, but it soon should be.)

Just missed it!
That Listen again link doesn't show today's programme, but that's maybe because the whole (Woman's Hour) prog hadn't finished yet. Well, it has now (1 min past 11) better try again.

Hiya Ralphie!

I think you're right there Ralphie - being harassed by those brown noses in the Seats of Impotence is giving our music a lot more street cred (to use a term that I beieve no longer actually has too much street cred - which is fine, since that means it's traditional).

"Kim Howells does not understand Folk Music....."

what's worse is he doesn't understand the proposed changes!

or is lying..... you choose

Why choose? Surely both statements are true.

Anahata and Noreen....and everyone else!!!
Come on all you chaps and chappesses.....
Three cheers for Kim Howells....
He has, unknowingly, and probably unwittingly, been the catalyst for the biggest uprising with regards to the God given right of all true born English to celebrate their own culture....
Long May He Reign !!
Love Ralphie (Tongue firmly inserted in cheek!)
(And listening to the Bismarcks very loudly!)

But Seriously....
Don't forget to E Mail the programme, expressing your appreciation for including Ms Carthy on the show, and urge them to include it in their Omnibus show.
It's by this steady drip drip approach, that the message will get through eventually.
As I know only too well, Radio producers and presenters are suckers for any praise!!! (Applies to us engineers as well!)
Keep on, Keeping on...
Regards Ralphie

Right, it's up there now, on the Womens' Hour listen again page. And this click gets you to the sound file direct, assuming you've got RealAudio on your PC: Eliza Carthy.

Her Bushes and Briars is really lovely. I've emailed the BBC to thank them. (And I brought a mention of it to a Womens' Hour Discussion Forum I visited.)
