The tune after the first song about the recruiting sargeant is Rocky Road to Dublin if my memory serves me correctly followed by the song Galway Races.vl

Whoops, I went off half-cocked. I looked it up at pogues.com and found I was thinking of track nine entitled simply Medley. Don't know the ones off track 12.vl

At vaxxine.com you'll find the chords to the tunes (according to the host anyway, I've never tried them) but not the names.vl

I'd like to revive this thread in hopes of finding out if anyone reconizes the tunes in the Pogues "Battle March Medley" track 12 on their CD "If I should Fall from Grace with God".

The whole track is here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVv-i5F6kwU

I don't recognize any of the tunes. The first could be original; at any rate it doesn't sound typically Irish to me.

The two other tunes are jigs, at least in form.

I posed a similar question on a recent Pogues thread and wound up reading somewhere (perhaps the Session) that the tunes were composed by their cittern player, Terry Woods.

Hi all,

Here is the

Pogues thread - trying to identify the snippets otunes they put into their songs

As gillymor said, it appears that the tunes were written by Terry Woods, but also the small intro is reminiscent of March of the Battle of Laois.

Helen
