Subject: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 03 Apr 03 - 07:20 PM Looks like I'm gonna be a real gramma around Sept. 1. Son and girlfriend of 6 yrs are preggers. Not actually a welcomed event, but will love the critter anyway! I know I have told several of you about this in Chat, but waited until she was out of the Danger Period before posting it. Hey, don't congratulate me, I'm not boffing the son's GF!, LOL! A Grand Dog was all I ever wanted........grin. |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: SINSULL Date: 03 Apr 03 - 07:34 PM Sorcha, This is the best. You get to feed the baby candy, let her stay up way past bedtime, and then when the whining tantrums start, you pack up your marbles and go home. And babies smell so nice! Be happy! SINS |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 03 Apr 03 - 10:16 PM If you ever want to hear how wonderful being a grandma is...give me a year or two! When a child is born, so are grandmothers. And my favorite...from DaveO I think... What do grandparents and their grandchildren have in common? A common enemy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Mudlark Date: 03 Apr 03 - 11:06 PM Sorcha...good GIRL! Sit, stay! Believe me, you can get this kid to be almost as good as a corgi. Pretty exciting news....congratulations! |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: PeteBoom Date: 04 Apr 03 - 09:58 AM As one who has been a grandpa for not quite 10 years (and happily sleeping with a granny for the same length of time, spaw) all I can say is "congratulations and good luck." We both agreed its no the kid's fault his parents showed no sense. We just love him, and his six siblings that followed.... (Got a picture of the oldest sleeping in grandpa's arms having been sung to sleep through every pipe tune I could remember, then bugle calls - through the entire camp duty (infantry) and much of the camp duty (cavalry) up to "sabres and spurs"... then he drifted off. He was 4 months at the time, and is nearly 10 years old now.) Have fun! Pete |

This is a very special time coming for us. A friend of mine pointed out that I was not going to be one of those always-available grandmas though, and that sometimes when they want me to babysit, I might have to tell them that "Granny's got a gig." Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Rolfyboy6 Date: 05 Apr 03 - 05:26 PM Congratulations Sorcha. There are two kinds of grandmothers. One says "Oh, you want another song? Have another soda." And the other kind says "If you drink that soda you'll get sugar diabetes!" I know which kind you'll be. Now you can infect a child's mind with music and culture without having to be the one who has the day to day maintenence. |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Liz the Squeak Date: 07 Jun 03 - 03:00 AM Friend of a friend went for her ultrasound and was asked if they wanted to know the sex. They said yes, OK, and the technician turned the monitor towards them and said 'here we are, it's a boy, and we know it's a boy because he is in fact, masturbating.' We weren't given the option (so many pregnant women in my area suffer 'accidents' if they know they are having a girl) so Bratling was a suprise, although, having a C-section (medical grounds, not just too posh to push), we could see what she was before we saw her face - it was the first bit of her that saw daylight. She was head up, legs stretched out (rather than flexed in) and with her back to my back.... every awkward way a baby could be except possibly sideways. Get those knitting needles out Sorcha, he needs a fluffy bonnet knitted to look like a bunny - and we want pictures! LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 09 Jun 03 - 07:23 PM Please pardon Mrs. Stoopid again. His name is Owen Jareth not Jethra. I was wondering why they were using the fem of Jethro.....Jareth is a made up name, but some sculptor that makes Christian/Christmas figurines used it for his Little Drummer Boy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Amos Date: 10 Jun 03 - 05:29 PM Amazing!! Jareth really is a made up name, apparently, but it sounds so much like an old New England or Old Testament name that I seriously believed you were mistaken, Sorch. I will never doubt you again, I promise!! A |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 15 Oct 03 - 05:43 PM WE ARE HAVING A BABY TOMORROW!!! (Oct. 16th) One way or another, Owen will be here tomorrow. They are going to induce because ultra sound says he is over 8 lbs and Tiny Little Mamma is very tiny with NO hips to speak of. If she has trouble, they will do a C-section. They have to be there at 6:30 AM and I can't get there until about 4 PM (1600) so if there is a section, I might be Granny before I get there!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 17 Oct 03 - 10:42 PM WE HAVE A BABY!! It is a boy, so welcome Owen Jareth to the planet. Born naturally at 4:03 PM, MDT. 7 lbs 10 oz, 19" long. Natural but he had to be sucked out with a giant vacum cleaner thing which sort of bunged up his head. Dr. said he had the longest fingernails she had ever seen on a newborn. Little Mamma said "No wonder my belly hurt all the time. He was trying to dig his way out!". Light brown hair but not much of it, and of course, newborn blue eyes right now. He is a pretty baby, not all messed up from being born except for a bruise/sore spot on his head from the 'vacum'. Pretty, long fingers. All the usual complement of fingers and toes, but he seems to be sucking 'backwards'. Might be a small problem. He is currently a "Cone Head' because of being stuck in so small a place for so long, but that will go away very soon. Iz a Granny for real now!!!! WHEEEE! We are gonna have sooooo much fun! |

Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: artbrooks Date: 19 Oct 03 - 09:40 AM ...looks like every other baby... NO, NO, erase that! Where's that crossout key? Lovery kid, Sorchy. Jenn says so, and she's the baby expert...no, wait, that doesn't sound right...anyway, congratulations to your daughter...and where is it she is moving to? Better yet, you move, and don't leave a forwarding address. You can always go back and visit the baby, and that way you minimize possible exposure to becoming a Mom instead of a Grandma! Maybe I better quit before I get further behind Wonderful baby!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Granny Sorcha..........(!!) From: Sorcha Date: 19 Oct 03 - 10:59 AM Art, LOL! Yes, he looks like a baby. Nuff said. And, he is our son's/d-i-l baby. They are going to live across the street from us!! (makes it difficult to fill him with sugar and send him home. She said she'd just send him back.....) Yes, the pics on the Events page, not with mine. |

Lavendar's blue Dilly dilly Lavender's green When i am king Dilly dilly You shall be queen... p.s. hey Sorcha--i just sent a picture of your quilt to the mud cat archives...there may be one there already, but I printed it out and pasted it on the the front of the mud cat cook book!! Great image....is in on the cat any where? I sent it to Banjer....whose name is listed as Pene's helper in the photo dept. For those who have not seen it, the quilt was an auction item created some years ago for the benefit of Mud Cat. Not sure where it ended up but presumable some lucky person who bid on it now enjoys having it. |
