Hi Everyone I'm looking for some lyrics to some songs that the Muppets sang in their movie and on the show. The three songs are Rainbow Connection, Movin' Right Along, and Bein' Green. I would appreciate any leads anyone might have.

The whole title of Bein' Green is "It's Not Easy Being Green," and is of course a Kermit song. I don't know the lyrics, so I guess I'm no help. My favorite bit of Muppet musical nonsense came in the early days of Sesame Street, maybe only the first year: a wimpy little human muppet singing "Lulu's Back in Town" in a tone of desperation, explained when Lulu shows up, a Terminator-type Lulu.

Does anybody know the words for "Nobody's Business"? It's a funny song, but I only remember one part of it. Another good one is "To Morrow" (I set off on a journey just about a year ago, to a little town called Morrow in the state of Ohio. . .)

I will take any Muppet lyrics anyone has that they know the comlete songs. I know most of the words on a bunch of songs. I have always been a Muppet nut. In fact, I wanted to be a Muppeteer until my dad said that he wouldn't pay tuition for me to college for that.

Kathleen,

I believe you will find both songs in the Digital Tradition. Go to the upper right hand corner where you will find a search block. Type in {Nobody's business] and find two songs, then come back and type [to morrow] and the journey will be yours. Be sure to use the brackets, they make it search for that specific phrase. Otherwise you'd get every song that said business and worse yet, every song that had the word "to" in it. Welcome to the Mudcat.

I'm My Own Grampa is also in the database. Can't recall who did the original -- two old comedy guys. The muppet hillbilly band would show up on occasion to sing songs of that nature.

I liked some of the songs on Sesame Street too. The famous It's Not Easy Being Green, If I'd Known You Were Coming I'd Have Baked A Cake, and that eastern-European sounding song that The Count sang about, of course, counting.

I have a Christmas tree ornament of one of the old guys in the balcony. Wish I had the pair.:)

The song "To Morrow" in the database is a slightly different version of the one I heard, but not enougth to speak of, really. I couldn't find the "Nobody's Business" that I know. It's a man and a woman singing back and forth to each other and the only part I can remember is:

"You've got a gal you love on Monday Then you've got another on Sunday-"

"Ain't nobody's business, but my own!"

Nobody's business Nobody's business Ain't nobody's business, but my own!

It's a silly song, but those are the best kind.

The "C is for cookie" song... hmmm. I read a story somewhere a few years back that the song was originally created by a woman who worked with the Children's Television Workshop and had a developmentally delayed son. She was trying to come up with a way to teach him letter-recognition and reading, something the "EXPERTS" said couldn't be done. She made up the song, sang it to her son, and he not only understood the concepts, he consequently learned to read. Further proof of the cosmic whimsy and gracious genious that underlies all muppet work... I strongly suggest seeking out the recording that was made as a tribute to Jim Henson. Can't remember title, but it is filled with songs that Jim Henson's special characters would sing. Ernie, Kermit, and Captain Vegetable are my personal favorites...oh, wait: Did he do Grover too, or was that somebody else? Sigh. Anyway, I miss him.

Kathleen, take a look at Rabid Squirrel's Jazz Archive for the lyrics to "Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do," which was recorded by Bessie Smith and more recently by Saffire: the Uppity Blueswomen.

Another suggestion is to look up the works of Joe Raposo, the recently deceased author of many of the Muppet/Sesame street classics, including Its Not Easy Bein Green, and others. His is another case where everyone knows the songs, but nobody knows the artist.

Umm, I don't know if I'm of much help or not. I was just looking for this song myself, and coincidently my search led me here. Most likely whoever was looking for this has found it, since, good grief the last message was posted in 98...man. Ok, so this is probably pointless, but I guess I'll send it anyway in case it does save someone a search.

I did a search on Joe Raposo, who wrote many Muppet songs. It turns out all of the three songs requested are in a book found at this web site (and quite possibly many others). They are in a book called Favorite Songs From Jim Henson's Muppets and it says they are arranged for piano/vocal/guitar. Raposo wrote "Being Green" and Paul Williams wrote the other two, "Movin' Right Along" and "Rainbow Connection."

Well Beardy, funny you mention that, I am getting a bit pissed off with singing the same songs time and again and I'm looking for inspiration for news songs, so I'm open to any suggestions.

"Put Down the Ducky (If You Want to Play the Saxophone)" was a favorite around our house when the kids were little. :)
