Just to make sure that no one goes to the wrong place.. it is not in the same camp as last year..it is going to be at actually a more expensive one (but for the same price since they sort of goofed up our registration). It will be at the Ocean Park (NOT OCEAN SHORES --don't even think about Ocean Shores) Retreat Center. This is about 10 miles north of Long Beach, on the Long Beach Peninsula. This is at the mouth of the Columbia River..then head north. At Ocean Park, there is a light. Go straight ahead. Go 1.1 miles. There is a sign on the left that says Ocean PARK retreat Center. Turn in and follow the signs to Ocean View Lodge.

And if you haven't paid yet, please get a check in right away. I need to be buying more food etc. And if you haven't decided, please do come. It will be a smallish group like last year, but the music was just outstanding.

Oh, here is the web site..

It's the same at Singtime Frolics. Officially there's no alcohol allowed, but more than a few people use it discreetly. Just don't bandy it about or get roaring drunk. After all, that's the reason for the rule. :-)

HI Mary,

As you know, I have considered going to your camp several times. The only reason I haven't yet is that I'm NOT retired yet, though my deck building competition would wish I would hurry up and retire. As I have also mentioned to you, I have a brother that lives perhaps an hour North of you in the village of Westport.

As I'm looking at perhaps committing to a camp this year, I bump into the "NO ALCOHOL" rule. What the heck is that all about? This is a straight and legimate question.

As you and I have spent many hours in hoots together, over the years, I suspect you'll remember that I am NOT a problem drinker: I always leave with the lady I arrive with; I don't get sick and vomit all over the floor; and as far as I remember, I haven't embarrassed myself, or anyone else by enjoying a glass of wine at a hoot.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and explain this "NO DRINKING" rule.

Respectfully, Bob(deckman)Nelson

I'll have to check.. the camp itself might have one..I don't..it wasn't a problem last year..I assume people had beer or wine but nothing excessive...mg

yah, all you need to do is pour your beer or whatever in a coffee mug, so the powers that be (not mary but the camp managers) don't come in and find us lying in the gutter in a litter of broken sixpacks and empties.
I think you might have to really work at it to achieve a higher level of inebriation than our salmon cook last year...
Blessings,
Barbara

I've caught a few salmon and I've eaten a whole bunch (love 'em!), but I can't say I've ever seen one cook! How do they get that little chef's hat on?

You get some sail twine and lash the hats to the head....they are great cooks...almost as good as a cajun cat fish....
