Alison, I tried all kinds of ways to call up the program, including clicking on your notation, but get no results. I'd like to learn the program but can't find it.

We can post MIDIs to the Mudcat MIDI page but it is still useful to have a copy of the programme if we are looking through old threads, like I was a few weeks ago and realised that I didn't still have a copy of the programme on my new upgraded computer.

Alan Foster's Miditxt programme

I couldn't see a heading under Links for (Music) Software Downloads - did I miss it, or would it be an idea to add this to the list of Link categories?

I can see why cranky yankee uses the name. I can really see no reason why a simple suggestion for improvement would warrent such a comment!

There has been a shift towards putting MIDI files on the MIDI page rather than posting the MIDItxt programme notation in threads here at Mudcat, but while that works for current threads it does mean that we still need MIDItxt for older threads. As I see it, pavane's suggestion is a good one, but the idea seems to be to discourage people posting the text version in new threads. If a big, bold note to that effect were pasted into Alan Foster's MIDItxt download page then maybe we could cover both needs. Just a thought.

I had to do a search on Google to find the download page just so that I could hear a MIDI being discussed in an old thread.

My suggestion was more general, in that we should if possible maintain links to all useful music software in a single place.
