Left behind in an Australian pub, that is. His mates have gone for all kinds of reason - some left the country, come just got married and stopped coming down to the pub. How it goes.

Leadfingers-

No, it's more about the guy who's left behind after all his mates are gone, and he's left drinking to the bar room wall.

A reminder that a whole bunch of Lawson (inc. The Outside Track) and material by other authors of interest to Australians at: Words

Just go to "verse- title index" if you know the title, or look for Lawson under L of "Author index." Essays and short stories by Lawson as well as verse.

Books and short stories by quite a number of people; a very good website.

and it's best to put something ABOUT the song IN the thread name. Imagine if we had 24 threads going with "need the name of a song" as the title.

And you can find discussion of the composer, Poet Henry Lawson, and "Outside Track" including some missing verses by doing a "thread search." It's a fine song.

Well, this would be a rather tedious way to go about it, but you could go to allmusic.com. Both artist's are included there. Go to their album listings, most of which list the tracks. And compare tracks, looking for one that both artists recorded. Just a thought.

If it's the other way round - returning to England - you could be referring to Lawson's 'Outside Track' which may be found easily with a forum search.
