Same for me with T-shirts.

I like loose clothing and I'm 44" around the chest. Not a big guy, but I like loose T-shirts. Where the hell ARE they. And in cotton. Not polyester crap--cotton. They're prob'ly with the work gloves, hiding out.

Work gloves. Why is it so hard to find extra-large men's work gloves? I'm not a small guy, but I ain't huge and my hands aren't huge either. They're probably slightly larger than average for a man. There must be zillions of guys with hands my size or larger out there. So where in the hell are they hiding all the zillions of extra-large work gloves we need?

144-pint steel beer barrels, without slots cut in the rim to make lifting handles !

Getting them down into the cellar is a doddle. 1 - The brewery's delivery men do it, and 2 - They lower them down sloping beams using ropes round the middle.

Getting them back up again, however is my job. How am I supposed to do it ? Grip the thing in a bear hug ? I'd need arms like an orang-utan's to do it. Hoist it onto my shoulders ? The cellar ceiling is too low, and the stairs too narrow to allow it. So, I have to somehow pinch the rim between finger and thumb and carry it up the cellar steps that way. Those over-sized barrels weigh over 40 pounds when abolutely empty, and there's usually five or six pints sloshing around in the bottom which the lines can't quite suck up (or are too cloudy to serve).



I've ranted before about pub customers who eagerly try and attract your attention, flapping ten-pound notes in front of your face as you try and serve someone else, and only when when you rush back to them do they look for the first time at the list of ales and spirits on offer and turn to their friends to ask what they all want.

I am really pissed off at both management and the union but I think it is all working its way through the process. I happen to be caught in between and believe it or not everyone is on my side. Unfortunately, no matter what anyone says, it seems the two sides prefer to keep the conflict alive. I'm beginning to realize that their jobs depend on it.

In the meantime, I have a cold/flu I can't seem to shake. I need to find a new tennant. I have to pack. I need to clean the house. My daughter and her boyfriend want to meet me for coffee and I need to do something with my hair. I feel very scattered and just want to sit by the fire with a hot toddy.

I hate people who play games with my head and my heart, people who manipulate and lie....I hate being set up and I hate even more that I fall for it. I try to do things the right way and have a good heart about most things and I continue to get kicked in the face and it's getting so very old and I'm tired of it all. I'd bet most of the people who have posted here are not habitual complainers—and that's good. So you'll understand, I hope, that when I complain about complainers, I'm not trying to discourage you from posting your complaints here.

People who go somewhere (shopping, for instance) and then complain that it's too crowded, the lines are too long, whatever. They're mad at everyone else for getting in their way. Hello! If you're there, and it's too crowded, then you're part of the problem. You might as well complain about yourself. Or do you think you have a right to be there and no one else does? When everybody else is putting up with the same conditions, trying to be cheerful, trying to make the best of a bad situation, it's really annoying to hear someone complain, as if they're the only one being inconvenienced. If you hate the crowdedness so much, stay home and help alleviate it!

Same goes for people who complain about traffic. Who do you think creates traffic? Just more people like you. If you're in it, you're helping to create it. If you complain about traffic, you're complaining about yourself. If you hate traffic, stay out of it. You'll be doing everyone a favor.

I mean, I guess I'm angry at those idiots who break the phones, but I'm also really pissed off at the phone companies who are phasing out all the phone boxes from London. The ASSUMPTION that everyone now has a mobile (cell to Yanks) really does my head in! Not only are they removing the VIDEO RECORDERS from the stores, forcing us all to buy new CD RECORDERS, but then if you go to make a phone call (yeah I'm all over the place this morning) you have to find one that even TAKES coins, and you know how much they're charging now? 30p!! It's a RIP OFF and I'm really fed up with the lot of them!

I hate daylight saving. And hot weather. My comfort point is 27 degrees Celsius. Any hotter than that, and I am like a wilted lettuce leaf without salad dressing. I hate January and February for that reason.

Called the police to ask about this, they informed me that they will only investigate if I have received at least 3 calls within 24 hours, or 20 call within one week, from the same number.

How the $%^!@ do I know if they're all from the same number if they won't tell me what the number is?


A minor annoyance:

I just attempted to look up some identification on a public institution, found their web site quite easily, and even a .pdf map giving me the street names in their vicinity; but a thorough search of their website failed to reveal

        WHAT %$^*! CITY they are in.

(OK, so there IS ONLY ONE city in the UK …. How was I supposed to know? But why do they call it the "Birmingham" if it's in Hull?)

I barfed all over the kitchen floor last night. And I have a headache.

When I was in high school, I watched someone I knew pick up a piece of trash that someone else had dropped on the ground. He then followed the person who dropped it and handed the trash back to them. The look on the litterer's face was priceless.

People who litter!! I HATE people who litter! They should all be given on the spot fines by ANYBODY who sees them litter. Then they should be made to EAT whatever they threw on the ground!

And that goes for big corportations who STILL figure out ways of getting rid of their wastes illegally. I think they need to be made to drink and eat their own waste products for a year. And then be buried underneath it for another year.

Then be SHOT.

I haven't read this whole thread, enough to recognize that I need it. So I hate that my only daughter's wedding was so orthodox that I wasn't allowed under the Chuppa because I'm not Jewish. I hate Religious intolerance and exclusivity. I hate that some people's religious self-righteousness has done a LOT of damage to my own family of origin, including my nephews & nieces (Barky excluded), and even my own kids.

I also really hate the outcome of the recent election -- except for the Colorado state legislature, which was good.

I hate that I no longer trust the central, essential pillars of US government, like our electoral system, which I think is riddled with holes and unfairnesses, and our Justice system, which seems to be listing very badly to starboard, imho. I no longer trust our democracy, and I hate that.

I hate being broke all the time.

I hate that what money I got from my late parents I've managed to dissipate, even though I got a decent education and a BA out of it. I just hate that it's gone and that there isn't going to be any more easy money.

I hate that so many people think that SUVs are an acceptable solution to the problem of needing transportation, and that as a society we have no constraints on that kind of waste and destruction -- or on any other waste or destruction, either.

I hate that the environmental protection laws are going up in smoke.

There's more but that's enough. If I keep going I won't be able to sleep.
