To the GUEST: Hearing Leonard Cohen sing this song gives me goosebumps every single time. It's your mother's job to like everything you do so please don't get the idea that your 15 minutes of writing lyrics that tell a story everyone already knows could possibly compare to the heart and soul put into the song by Leonard Cohen. Also please respect the fact that you did not spend any time at all writing the melody which you obviously were drawn to or you would have never paid attention to the words. Perhaps you would benefit from tying to understand the writer's perspective rather than assuming a multi-million dollar song makes no sense. Just sayin'.

Point well taken. :-) Sadly I teach teenagers in Mississippi and after just reading 220 art criticisms that they truly think are wonderful and yet they make no sense whatsoever, perhaps I jumped the gun after the first verse. Seriously though, these high schoolers, when asked what they would change about the artwork said that the central figure of the artwork "needed shoes cause it don't make no sense." It was not tongue in cheek and plagiarized by four other students. I plead temporary insanity. :-)
