JohninKansas:

My brother, John live in Atcheson, and my other brother in Kansas City.

I would truly love to hear your bass sometime. The pictures on the Washtub bass site are inspiring, no wonder there are copies. In a similar vein, I'm seeing basses with a cross piece crop up more and more. I came up with that concept independently and near as I can tell was one of the first ones to describe it, here on the Mudcat many years ago. So, if people are copying your double bass, Kudos

JAB

P.S. I use dial up too, and always save the file first. Also, feel free to share the files with whoever you would like to. That's what they are for.

Truly inspiring!

I may have to design a replacement for my 15 year old double bass gutbucket. It's now (recently) been copied (incompetently) by at least four others that I know of.

My question is where one finds sufficient accomplices of appropriate talent(?) to form an organized group. Maybe if I build the whole set of necessary instruments(?) they'd work as bait.

A note on the original site: I had to make four separate trips in, in order to listen to all of the posted pieces, apparently due to traffic.

I did find that a right click on the link and "Save Target As" got much better service, since the download isn't interrupted by the stop-and-start attempts to play real-time. Those having difficulties may want to try this method - especially those like me on dialup connections.

(I've carefully hidden the downloads under disguised filenames for reference during my redesign.)

John

I finally managed to squeeze the files through my little modem. Fun stuff! Just the thing to drive the Holiday blues away. Thanks for sharing it.

In order to promote peace and inner harmony within the band I removed the We Wish You A Merry Christmas track from the ANGAJB website.

It can now be found here:

It may have exceeded the band width limits. It sometimes happens when several folks have downloaded from the site at the same time (or close to the same time).

When I told the band that I had sent some of the tracks to Mary Cliff the host of Traditions on WETA 90.9 FM one of the members responded as follows:

"You gotta be kidding!
That jug song is possibly the worst recording of anything I've ever heard. I'd rather hear a Jesse Jackson speach or a recording of a baby delivery. I hope Mary Cliff has the good sense not to play any of that stuff."

I am really trying to be "big" here and not get real pissed off at the reply. I wouldn't have posted it if I wasn't proud of it. Is it really that bad?

MMario, gnu, rumanci, and others. Thanks for letting me know that the ANGAJB isn't all alone out in the cold!

Also, why does it always get so busy around the Holidays!

Last Friday (December 9th) The All New Genectically Altered Jug Band performed for the 1st Annual Downtown DC Holiday Market. It had snowed the night before, most of the schools in the DC region were closed, and it is an outdoor market. So the audience was very small but appreciative.

However, the sound system and sound man were Great and we were able to tape much of the performance.

I've updated the ANGAJB website with some of the sound files. Holiday tunes inlcude Rudolf (a riot!), Ali Broder, Christmas in Jail, and our Encore Jug Duo of We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

The ANGAJB website is here.

Please feel free to listen, share, or even play on any radio shows you host (hint) what you find there.

aka Gutbucketeer

p.s. If you get an error message it means that the bandwidth was exceeded by too many downloads. Just check back later.

I posted this same message under a different title and didn't get any response.
