Subject: RE: Review: washtub bass solo video From: GutBucketeer Date: 04 Jan 03 - 12:49 AM Nice video jammalot. I found it works better if I right click on the link and save it as a download before I play it. It's awful hard to mike a washtub bass because it is so low. A sound guy at this year's FSGW Getaway in Washington D.C. told me that the best way to mike the tub is to actually put the mike inside (under) it. How long have you been playing the washtub? Do you play with anyone else? I've only actually seen one or two other players in my life, though I've been playing on and off for a number of years. Check out the threads for past discussions on playing and making washtubs. JAB Gutbucketeer |
Subject: RE: Review: washtub bass solo video From: GUEST,jammalot Date: 06 Jan 03 - 06:07 PM hiya, thanx for replying to my post... to answer yer questions, i'm 44 and have always played a washtub since hi-school... i make em for friends, sold a few... i'm a bassist at heart, always in search of an audience :) i have 13 original songs and 3 bass solo's posted at : jammalots bass solo's i primarily consider myself a jazz bassist, with a love of simplicity. i gig with my washtub in a band called Laughing Gas. its a jazz improv with brass thang. for live gigs, i put a 58 on a pillow INSIDE of the washtub... in my livingroom, with the `puter mic, i got a better sound with the mic just OUTSIDE of the vented bass. |
