I noticed that there were lots of blues people here, multiple times this site came up when I was searching for info and lyrics for Lead Belly songs. I don't have a registered name, but I just thought it would happen quicker, maybe I should just sharpen my senses and give it another good try learning it by ear.

this song is played in open D tuning with a capo on the 5th fret. strum it open then the second chord is a g shape on open D and third is an A shape with open D then you can figure out the melody with those chords.
