Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Morticia Date: 24 Feb 04 - 06:59 AM PIxie and I will be bringing two tents, ( I'm too tense,Doctor!)...one huge and the other little. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Davetnova Date: 24 Feb 04 - 03:33 AM We would like to bring the three of us and a very small camper (none of us are normal). |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 23 Feb 04 - 11:39 PM No such thing as a normal tent. As soon as you purchase a tent, it becomes abnormal. In the car on the way home, it absorbs your personality through the back of the seats and then transmogrifies into something completely opposite to you. If you are a tidy person you will get a tent that will always look like a badly made bed. If you are a tall person, it will mysteriously shrink by just enough to make you have to bend your head sideways. And even if this doesn't happen, it will mysteriously expand so that it will never, ever go back into its original bag again. LTS |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 23 Feb 04 - 06:35 PM Do we allow normal people - vote now! oR IS IT JUST THE TENTS THAT ARE NORMAL IN WHICH CASE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE Don't you just hate it when that happens! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: GUEST,bid andy Date: 23 Feb 04 - 05:29 PM Hi can I please book five people, one trailer tent, and two normal (I think) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Crane Driver Date: 23 Feb 04 - 12:39 PM My New Year resolution is to get out more and meet more 'Catters. Barring unforseen circumstances (like meteorite strikes or a booking in the Bahamas), I intend to be there, with a small tent and large appetite. Andrew |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Feb 04 - 07:23 PM Do you think we could phone up the radio station and ask them to play the Toccata & Fugue again? It certainly made it more interesting! Or should I bring the tape recorder with me...... LTS |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Geoff the Duck Date: 22 Feb 04 - 06:20 PM Well Liz - it certainly wasn't quiet when we were setting up Squeak Mansion in the dark! (not sure about when you visited the gazunder). Quack! GtD. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Feb 04 - 06:12 PM There were quieter bits in the day? When were they then? Must have been about 4.00am (but not in SOME corners of the camping field....) Are we getting the Loo with a View again? The Guzunder Gazebo? LTS |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Geoff the Duck Date: 22 Feb 04 - 03:05 PM That about describes the general idea. It also includes - if you want a chat and drink without interrupting other peoples enjoyment... a generally informal attitude, some singing, some music, enough space to spread and for both to happen in different parts of the pub. Perhaps a bit of silliness to occupy the quieter parts of the day. Bring a tent, camper or caravan, but tell us if you are doing so. It allows the landlady and landlord to cater for enough beer, food etc. Quack! GtD. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: GUEST,bid andy Date: 22 Feb 04 - 02:43 PM What sort of do is it.Is it like, if you can play it fetch it, if you can sing do it, sort of thing |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 22 Feb 04 - 01:45 PM OK, you're on Sorcha! £1 per head to meet you - all proceeds to Mudcat :0) Last year we had around 57 of us so that should cover it!! Other fund raising ideas could include spot the smile on Mr Happy, make Liz squeek, haqmster racing with Joh9n etc etc. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Sorcha Date: 19 Feb 04 - 01:39 PM It darn well better be on! I'll be pretty pissed off it it's not!! LOL, Jane, maybe they would pay 57 L to meet me? (*BG*) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 19 Feb 04 - 01:30 PM I've never been cheap at any price Eric you should know that ;0) I posted to this thread earlier but it seems to have been eaten - never mind. The gathering is certainly on and if people want workshops let me know and I'll see what can be arranged otherwise you'll just have to sing, play and get drunk like the rest of us! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Eric the Viking Date: 19 Feb 04 - 12:22 PM Ah bit I'm sure Jane will manage to handle a £57 charge for something if she is asked politely!!-cheap at half the price. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mr Happy Date: 19 Feb 04 - 11:34 AM guest, the £57 is for the Eurogathering-not this one. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: GUEST,Just asking Date: 19 Feb 04 - 06:11 AM Can I take it from the above you are planning to have some workshops at the Gathering, hope so could be fun and something different ? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: GUEST Date: 19 Feb 04 - 05:41 AM Careful, there may be a £57 charge this year if you want to play in any of the sessions.(That is if you are deemed musically competent enough to join in by the management) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: GUEST Date: 19 Feb 04 - 04:11 AM Dont know Mr Happy but I hope so |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mr Happy Date: 18 Feb 04 - 08:31 PM refresh Haven't heard much about this for ages- is it still on? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Les from Hull Date: 22 Jan 04 - 07:12 PM No we'll bring a tent with us, especially if we can make arrangements with someone with one of those metal tent-bringing things, what are they called now? Oh yes, cars. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Jan 04 - 12:55 PM I'm afraid Squeak Manor doesn't have the west wing, but we could bring the other tent if you really want us to..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Les from Hull Date: 22 Jan 04 - 09:52 AM I'm sure that we'll be there Jane. In a tent, of course. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: kendall Date: 21 Jan 04 - 06:34 PM The Inn doesn't have rooms |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: alanww Date: 20 Jan 04 - 06:03 AM Well if you would just loosen your clothes a bit, Sorcha, and we will see what my thumbs can do to ease the pain in your neck and shoulders ... Sorry, but unfortunately I cannot help with a space in my campervan. Have you ever seen the size of a Bambi? There is barely room for Sandy and me and only then if we use all the living space for the bed! However, like Micca, I do have a tent and sleeping bag available ... Kendall has asked if the pub has rooms. I am not sure, but Jane should know. Or you could try telephoning them to see if they have a room. I have searched but the pub doesn't seem to have its own website. "Then to the maypole haste away; for 'tis now our holiday!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Geoff the Duck Date: 20 Jan 04 - 05:42 AM Kendall - I cannot recall whether there are any "Rooms" nearby. There may be something in last year's thread - Here or here. The accommodation for the gathering is a field behind the pub where there are some resident caravans all year round, and space for us to bring caravans, campers and tents. In previous gatherings Bill Sables has offered accommodation to visitors from further afield, and transported them to the venue. As Bill is on his World Tour at present he is not about to ask, and I would not presume to invite you to somebody else's house, but keep in touch, and we will make sure we get you organised with something. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Skipjack K8 Date: 20 Jan 04 - 04:32 AM I'd better declare my bad news now. For about a year, I've been trying to get on a study tour that is going to Brazil to focus on the mighty soybean. And yes, that is the week it happens, 23rd to 31st. These study tours are excellent fun; previous ones have been to Chicago, Indiana (including the lamentable pole-dancing incident) and Nyawleens, and to Brussels, Hamburg and Poland last year. As delicious as that trip sounds, I am going with a heavy heart, as last year's session in the muso's bar was one of the very best I have ever experienced, and I believe I am down to play second box in the MudScratch Ceilidh Band. Oh bugger. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Sorcha Date: 19 Jan 04 - 09:29 PM Would a pad/mattress/bed in a caravan be too much to ask? I have this back.....and neck and shoulders....all say they are much older than I could possibly be. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: kendall Date: 19 Jan 04 - 07:52 PM Is it too late to book a room? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Col K Date: 19 Jan 04 - 07:30 PM Its just been put in my diary.Me and one tent. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: alanww Date: 19 Jan 04 - 07:24 PM I am looking forward to it, Jane. As last year, Sandy & I will be in a smallish campervan, so we can put it in the car park! And if for any unforseen reason Micca has a problem in practice, Sorcha, fear not - I can provide. (But let me know before I set off!) "I long to return ...!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Micca Date: 19 Jan 04 - 06:59 PM No sweat Sorch, spare tent and sleeping bag reserved and will be at venue for you |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Sorcha Date: 19 Jan 04 - 06:39 PM I'm in. Find me a place to sleep. |
