Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: growler Date: 12 Apr 08 - 04:15 PM Not getting involved in silly arguments. Shirt Murderer and I will be there. It would be nice to play with Don or Richard, but if thay are bussy in the playpen, then so be it. Ruff and Reddy will be there |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 12 Apr 08 - 12:52 PM What do you mean Kevin? He asked for an explanation. I gave him one. Free from all of the tirade I might have included. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Kev The Clogs Date: 12 Apr 08 - 12:17 PM WHAT IS IT WITH YOU TWO??!!!! If you can't play nicely together, we'll have to sit you in oposite ends of the beer garden!!! Come on guys, bury the hatchet and lets have a good day of song - whoever is there - whoever is "running it" - whoever "organised it" - It doesn't matter!!! Rob wants a day fo Folk and that's what we are ALL going to give him!!! (Please Joe, does this entitle me to a United Nations Peace Envoy (Folk) Badge?) Kev |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 12 Apr 08 - 11:14 AM Well, Mr. Grumpy, In spite of the fact that I was doing what The landlord, Rob, had asked me to do, and doing so with a limited knowledge (it would now seem) of what else was going on, you choose , in your infinite wisdom to call it self importance, and monopolisation. I wouldn't dream of interfering in YOUR little empire, so I wash my hands of it. You may explain my departure from the scene to Rob in any way you wish. I'm sure your keen legal mind will come up with something that makes you seem in the right. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 12 Apr 08 - 09:06 AM Don, I have no trouble with participation. No trouble with contribution. I have a lot of trouble with self importance. With monopolisation, with empire building. I have deleted a lot else I was going to say, but let me stick strictly to answering your question what it was that offended me, as it stood at the time it was asked. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 12 Apr 08 - 07:13 AM P.S. I am sure the worthy Mr. Bridge will count the absence of what he disparagingly calls a "snigger/snogwriter" no loss at all. Rob, however, may well remember that the "snigger/snogwriter" in question has featured heavily in all his events, and in the middle of the winter, performed solo for three hours outdoors, at the last one. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 12 Apr 08 - 07:07 AM Kev, I have the greatest of respect for you, and you certaimly still feature in my list of good guys. Richard, who was once counted among friends with whom I occasionally disagreed, seems to have a problem with my participation in the Upnor event. As I said, Rob asked ME to arrange music. He didn't tell me what other arrangements had been made, and I can't advertise what I do not know will happen. Instead of contact by PM, Mr. Grumpy (how apt) chose to make cryptic comments on thread, which I did not understand, since I was not party to his multiple personas (which, I believe, are frowned upon in this community). Now that I know, I intend to inform Rob that he has the services of the GUARDIAN of the TRADITION, and therefore has no further need of my services. Much good may it do him. I shall look forward to seeing you at Aylesford, in June. I am grateful that you, at least, set me straight as to the identity of the grumpy one. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Kev The Clogs Date: 12 Apr 08 - 05:58 AM oooppps - I guess I'm in trouble now with somebody somewhere!!!! YOU TWO - BEHAVE!!!!!! (notice the best teacher's voice there!!) It will be a great little event with a lot of people that we like spending time with, doing what we like best - singing, playing and drinking. Can we leave the politics for work please and just enjoy our hobby!!! Looking forward to seeing BOTH OF YOU there!!!!!! Kev |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 12 Apr 08 - 05:38 AM Ah! Now I get it, thanks to Kev. Mr Grumpy = Richard Bridge. It's all yours sunshine. I'll phone Rob and tell him you'll be arranging everything, and I'll not be there. Good luck Don T |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 12 Apr 08 - 05:29 AM If you are trying to make a comment on my involvement in this event, why not just come out with it. Maybe I'm thick, but I don't have a clue what your problem is. The landlord asked me to try to organise some music for this event and that is what I am doing. If you have a problem with that, tell me what it is. If you think you can do better, be my guest. I'll bow out and tell Rob to ask you in future. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Mr Grumpy Date: 11 Apr 08 - 07:24 AM Yes, it was good of the landlord and Bishop Gundulf to organise it, wasn't it? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 10 Apr 08 - 07:08 PM This is getting better and better. Now if he were to bring the submariners with him as a chorus, or failing that just bring some bananas....... Kev the Clogs, I'll be looking forward to seeing you. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: growler Date: 10 Apr 08 - 03:28 PM I have just spoken to the Shirt Murderer . He is of for a week, with the crew of U87, and is being paid to sing and play heartily, wilst eating bananas, every time a ship is sunk. He has promised to be there, on Georges Day. My advice is' Don't park your boat near Upnor Castle ALARM!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Kev The Clogs Date: 10 Apr 08 - 03:26 PM Now now children!!! Don, I'll be there - with my Bishop Gundulf Top Hat on!! Certainly up for some singing afterwards. See you there Kev |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 10 Apr 08 - 01:41 PM John B, Thanks for the testimonial. Modesty forbids etc. Growler and Melodion Boy, I was hoping for that. You will as always liven things up considerably, as well as saving me from a likely week of voicelessness. Mr. Grumpy, You wouldn't by any chance be the same Mr G with whom I have sometimes locked horns on the F1 forum? Don T. |

Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: The Barden of England Date: 09 Apr 08 - 05:59 PM Mr Grumpy - We have Don-Centric circles in this part of Kent. I bit like concentric circes, without the con. He's run some fair old clubs in his time, and writes some great songs to boot. Good man you are Don. John Barden |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: growler Date: 09 Apr 08 - 03:51 PM I'll be there, but I can't answer for 'Ruff and Reddy' as the Shirt Murderrer has started globe trotting. Why I don't know. But it could end up in a half decent folk song |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 09 Apr 08 - 01:53 PM And your point is.......? Don T |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Mr Grumpy Date: 09 Apr 08 - 07:12 AM It seems a bit Don-centric. |

Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 08 Apr 08 - 08:07 PM TDL, Snodland is on the Tuesday the 22nd, so yes, I'm going to knock meself out, but I COULD do with all the help I can get. I covered the last event solo, and although it went very well, I think a little variety would be good. So who's up for it. The more the merrier, and the choice of ales on the last two occasions was excellent. Nice to hear Bishop Gundulphs will be in it, Dilligaf. Look forward to seeing you there. We don't seem to hear much from The Barden these days, but he has the Gloucester Morrismen down soon, and the Greyhound is hosting their visit, as before. Can somebody in the know please fill in details of date and time for me? Don T. |
