Consider again, mooman - a bike you need only half a day, an additional instrument all the time. Please do me the favour and bring as many instruments as possible.

Eager to hear you

I have it down that Doo Ron and Glen have bagged the double room at the B&B over the road, and that Wolfgang has first refusal on the other, single room there (if he doesn't fancy the indoor camping in my bothy).

The single at the B&B over the road can be fixed for me from Friday to Sunday.

A bike would be one way to do a tour de Hull as long as the vapours from jOhn9's curries aren't likely to seriously corrode essential parts. Perhaps Oakley could design some whelk-powered propulsion units. Noreen - I'll offer you a lift on the handlebars - it would make it quite fun trying to get to the bell !

Seriously, I think we quite likely will bring bikes with us - they can go in the caravan for the trip up.

Cycling doesn't seem like a bad idea at all. I've just purchased a second-hand bike here for 25 euro (plus 12,50 repairs), and I'm gradually learning (by trial and error) how to use the gears. Would you believe I've never had a bike with gears before? They're redundant in the Netherlands. Oh MudGuard, I'll do a German song for you instead. Or a Dutch one. Or maybe both.
OK, on topic: I'm too lazy to PM you, Skip, but I'd like to come on the tour.

Letty

Susanne - if you borrow the tent, it's up to you who you share it with ! - it's only a small (igloo style) eurohike. They'll probably be an airbed to go with it if you want. We'll have spare seats available in the car if you wish to travel at the same time as us.
We might also be able to dispense the odd cuppa etc.

Is this biking thing serious ? - we could bring a couple of folding bikes with us if so.

No way, Andy! You're tall enough as it is! (Well, you might be able to serve as our crow's nest ...)
Anyway, doing the cultural tour by bike seems a great idea (said she, never having biked in 'Ull before). And it doesn't really seem worthwhile to find a bus for a fifteen-minute tour, does it?

Now, if I'm still allowed to come along after this nasty aside:
Dave Bryant - yes, I'd like to borrow one half of your spare tent (actually, both halves might be called for ...). So, thanks for the offer. Does it come with transport to and from the campsite? And, as I said earlier, I'll bring my own sleeping bag.

Drop into our wonderful birthing unit on the way in to your cultural tour of 'Ull Skippy, it'll get everyone in the mood for the scenic delights 'Ull has to offer.
(Got some good pubs though folks)

Glad you will come, Doug, and I hope you can get a quorum of campers and caravanners together in Goxhill.

Details of the cultural tour of Hull9 are a closely guarded secret, but your intent to partake is noted and appreciated. I'm still hoping Les will get back from Thailand in time, and delay his departure for the Moron Cursed, so that he can be our official Mudtourguide. I had intended to wait until we were about a month away to start to get a list together of Cultural Tourists, amongst other things to work out whether a bus is viable, but as the subject's been raised, please can anyone wishing to partake of the Cultural Tour please send me a PM.

Is it true that we need to wear overalls, wellie boots, and curry masks for the cultural tour of Hull ?

If anyone wants to borrow a tent, I've got a spare 2-person Eurohike - but please let me know first. We also have an inner tent that we can set up inside our caravan awning.

I have a feeling that Noreen is intending Stewart to be above her - but I'd be quite willing to take over that onerous but delightful position if he gets too tired - and if Linda's somewhere else for a while :-)

You can put my name down as attending although I might not be arriving until late on the Friday evening and will be otherwise occupied on the Sunday afternoon.

Re camping at Butters Wood
The availability of this site has been confirmed but, one month on, the way I interpret the replies is:

Dave Bryant & Linda (Essex Girl) want to camp with others but have alternative arrangements if necessary

Terry K would prefer something closer but will go with the flow

Bron (Llanfair) is a possible with a camper van

Kate will be searching through the cellar for her tent but has not commented on the site

If you add myself, who would like to camp but could cope as a day visitor, it doesn't add up to a lot of interest – certainly not enough to warrant setting up the marquee.
Dave, Terry, Bron, Kate and any others that have not yet identified themselves: - the offers still there if you want it.

Skipjack, how do I get on to the cultural tour of Hull ? Do I have to reserve a place on the bus ? How much will it cost ? (and before some smart-arse chips in – NO! It doesn't cost £57)

Doug C

Please, could you stop that for long enough to sort out where I am going to spent the night(s)???
So I'll be coming along after all (if I actually survive the experience of my first flight ...). I kept quiet because I couldn't see a way of getting to Hull and back in time (we have no Bank Holiday in Germany). Obviously, I can't bring my car to sleep in, just a sleeping bag, so can anyone offer me a corner to squeeze into when the music's done and breakfast not yet served? I haven't trawled this thread for suggestions of b&b yet, but it would be far nicer, of course, to wake up in the morning to the tuneful snoring of some fellow Mudcatters ...
Anyway, I'm so overjoyed I'm going to make it I'd sleep in someone else's car! Great to see you all again!

50p a can Noreen ? - down here in the south you get 4 cans of Tesco's Value Bitter for about 80p. It's so low in alcohol that it probably counts as near-beer and therefore they don't have to charge duty on it - but it's great if you've got to drive home. Uhh (well, I'll try to pretend I haven't read the last couple of posts),

Susanne and I shall arrive at Stansted Airport (Susanne's first flight of her life) very early on Friday and at Hull about noon. We'll fly back very late on Sunday so we still can have a breakfast in Hull, however late it may be.

Wolfgang
