Great news, Tawmmie, and thank you for keeping us up to date so diligently throughout. I understand about the dry mouth problems he's having - perhaps French kissing might help (but clearly not from his nurse whom he doesn't like!). Just for medical care purposes, you understand.

Now, tell him to stop pissing about, listen to his docs, stay put till he's 100% well, or I'll be after him with that Ulu knife.

Lori and I talked with him tonight. He has a time lapse problem. He is still asking if we're going on the cruise. Also asked where I was staying, wasn't quite sure where he was. Asked what they did to him. Most of all, he wants to go home, right now. He asked for a cell phone. When I asked who he wanted to call he said, anyone. He doesn't like his nurse tonight. Said she wouldn't give him any water. I told him that was the doctor's orders, so I swabbed out his mouth for him. He is almost back to his crotchety self again. He told us how much he likes Bruce. I asked Bruce who. Bruce Hopper. I asked if he had come to see him. Guess so, thank you so much. He wants visitors. Good to have my man back.

Yes Tawmmie - what everyone else has said! I can understand how this has happened. Just let others around you take some of the load. As well as those you can see, there are all of us pulling for you both. As some here can attest, the power of Mudcat healing is legendary! It sounds like you have turned the corner with Mike. You want to be there when he wakes up properly, don't you.

So go and spoil yourself for a while - the bubble bath, some good music, a funny movie. For the funny movie, can I recommend "The Party" or "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" - both with Peter Sellers. I'm a strong believer in that saying 'Laughter is the best medicine.'

WOW !!! WHEE!!! WHOOPEE!!! Lori and I went in today and the tube down his throat was gone. He looked at and recognized us. The first thing he said to me was "Are we still going on our trip?" I assurred him, yes. We are taking the Seamus cruise in January and then 2 more weeks in Isla Margarita off the Northern coast of Venezuela. He'll have the best looking scar on the beach. I kissed him and asked him if he wanted another kiss. He nodded yes so I kissed him again and he kinda kissed me back. He said he loved me. We were talking and the subject came up and he whispered, "I'm tough". I just know he's going to be moved out of CCU in a few days. I helped the nurse, Pedro, take the catheter from his neck that was a direct line to his heart.
Jacqui from Maine, thank you so much for the scarf. It is really beautiful and I wore it today. Today was our first day of snow, it's been snowing all day.
I'm better too today. Blood pressure down to 147/96. My doctor wants me to come in for a check up. Will do.

I haven't been in to see Mike yet today. I tried to go back to work yesterday. Worked half the day and was doing just fine. Then kinda suddenly I started to get confused. Then I had no memory except of the people around me, crying profusely. My supervisor, Jenn, was trying to help out with the memory and called my daughter Lori. She came over and had to walk me through the last 9 days. I had absolutely no memory of it all. I tried to get up and my legs collapsed. Sat for awhile longer. Then collapsed again walking down the hallway. They called 911, yep, my co-workers were a bit scared. Well these two really cute guys took my blood pressure, 214 over 100+. A tad high so they suggested I go over to the emergency room to be checked out. Lori and Jenn drove me over. BP still high but the doctor said everything else was ok. He gave me some half tablets to take before bedtime. He also suggested I have my BP checked every day for awhile and let my primary Dr know. I feel good now but still get quite veklempt alot. I miss my man. We're heading over there in a few minutes. They are going to try to take him off the ventilator today. :)

I got the following e-mail from Mike & Tawmmie's friend, Alaskan singer Robin Hopper, last night.

I talked with Tawmmie this evening. Mike continues to improve bit by bit - still very ill, but the doctors are feeling more and more encouraged. He's off dialysis now, and his kidneys are working on their own, which is very good. He opens his eyes when he's asked to, but there's no real response or recognition yet. Tawwmie thinks that's probably because he's on a heavy dose of morphine right now. He's still on a respirator, because he needs to fully conscious and responsive before it can be removed.

Will post further as I hear more. Let's keep pulling for the big fella.
