Subject: RE: Review: Gordon Bok on Tour From: breezy Date: 31 May 12 - 07:24 PM He and his wife captivated the Bodmin Folk club last Friday The voice was sublime and the Paraguayan harp playing was moving Their offering of Malvina Reynold's song 'Quiet' was very much appreciated. i had not previously heard it. beautifully sung. We who were present were absolutely captivated and wish them well Three days earlier Gordon was also seen playing out on Padstow harbour where he rendered 'Maggie in the Wood' and was almost nicked by a patrolling bobby, no thanks to one Mike O'Connor the likes of whom you should never trust. Oh and Martyn Wyndham-Read had some thing to do with it and I believe it was Danni's birthday treat, from him. I felt it had been a magical moment to have met and heard Gordon Bok sing and play. a gentleman of music. |
Subject: RE: Review: Gordon Bok on Tour From: ChanteyLass Date: 30 May 12 - 08:52 PM He was wonderful at Stone Soup a few months ago. Normally I go to the Working Waterfront Festival in New Bedford, MA, but that won't be possible this year. For those who have never been, you should know that it is FREE! The New London, CT, concert would normally be doable for me--but not this year. I am so glad I got to hear him at Stone Soup. |

Subject: Review: Gordon Bok on Tour From: Taconicus Date: 22 Mar 12 - 01:22 PM Gordon Bok paid a rare visit to the NYC area (well, within 60 miles) on Sunday, preforming in a sold-out concert this past Sunday for the Friend of Fiddlers Green chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild in Poughkeepsie. He was fabulous. He inspired me, and I'll never again worry about forgetting the words to songs while on stage. |
