Fibs, what can we do to prevent that conference trip money to reach you? Or better: that it comes in time but is labeled "trip money for your Niort9 trip" ;-)

Terry, Dubai is an arabic country. Maybe the drinks are all paid for, but they will be non-alcoholic. Please reconsider ;-)

Oakle[y|t] - I might consider moving you up but I am not yet convinced that you will come ... ;-)

Andy, you can be sure that if they didn't serve alcohol I would have opted out long ago! Having said which, I did a stint of about 3 months in Libya in 1970 and it really was dry - not to be repeated.

cheers, Terry

OK...here are some more lodging possibilities for those who are not catered for yet (with apologies in advance to francophones like Emma and Andreas for the lack of accents on my keyboard and my complete ignorance of the appropriate ASCII codes for them!)...

All are "chambres d'hotes":

Chantal et Michel Frere
12 rue du Port
85420 Le Mazeau (about 2 or 3 km from La Garenne farmhouse)

Tel: +33 2 51 529549

Le Pot a Lait
M et Mme Guttierez Leroy
23 rue du port Grenouillet (special prize for the person who can pronouce "grenouillet" correctly!)
Ste. Christine
85490 Benet (probably about 6 km from La Garenne)

Ferme de la Longee
Eric et Nicole Barbace
14 route du Mazeau
Damvix (about 2 km from La Garenne)

I hope with La Bosselle in Damvix, details of which I posted earlier and where some are already booked (and where we will have our Saturday night), these will satisfy the needs of those still in search of inexpensive accomodation. If you don't have luck with these, I have the details of other that are slightly further way (but still quite close).

If anyone without their own independent transport want to visit La Rochelle (e.g. on Saturday when there's a market) or other nearby places they fancy, let me know and we'll see what we can arrange.

Peace

Richard

Trying hard to work out how to get there. Looks very difficult with not getting away from school until 15.30 on Friday. Letty, I'll let you know what I sort out as soon as I get something sorted. Fibs, how we gonna make the earth move with Oakers between us? On the other hand if the movement starts in the middle we could both be satisfied!!

Cheers all

Giok, I do them with the Windows sound recorder (which usually sits in your windows folder under system32/sndrec32.exe) and a small cheap microphone attached to my soundcard.

Now the playing field is level again ;-)

Better... but you'll have to do better still to win Andy. I just feel it in my bones that Giok might be a natural (but I haven't heard him yet!)

And to make it fair Patricia and I will not take part and, for fairness, our French friend Magali will do the judging!

Who needs wav-files, especially when they leed to nervous breakdowns of your computer? So did mine every time I tried to open MudGuard's files, at last a reaaly rattling one.
The problem might be solved easily: The frog is called by the Frogs: grenouille. Take this word and fix a yeah to the end. But this is utterly unimportant. The French won't understand you in any case.

Well, I looked on P & O ferries and I can get myself and my car over and back for £80. Prob only a bit more with someone else. I am starting a new job now I'm back in yorkshire so funds should be ok. I thought about maybe travelling early hours of friday morning/thurs night and coming back on monday or tuesday. Whichever really.

Have a look at Norfolk Line, they go to Dunkerque which is that little bit north of Calais, but they are so much cheaper, that's who I'm using to take us and the motorhome. £88 Return for a largish vehicle and 2 people.

Sorry I'm late in replying to your question about food and drink Andy...especially knowing how cross you get when you don't get your supper! (;>)

There will probably be a barbeque on site with fuel available to all who want to use it at all times. Patricia and I thought of getting some basic supplies of food essentials and wine in for the benefit of all. I we get that locally in a decent quantity, it will work out cheaper per person. If people like that idea, let me know what kind of things you would lioke to have at hand and we can make up a shopping list.

Patricia will be doing a big pot of something very tasty for at least one main meal.

For eating out...well it's rural France...need I say more, plenty of good food locally!

Peace

Richard

Anyone driving from Northern Germany or Sweden/Norway? (Possibly even Denmark?) I might want to tag along, if it doesn't interfere with time/money, but I'll have to wait until I get home to check that. (Hm... I have a feeling I would probably be the youngest if I do come... ? >_>)
