Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: GUEST Date: 07 Apr 03 - 06:59 AM Head up his Arse, didn't like being told he was abusing hospitality. |
Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: Jingle Date: 07 Apr 03 - 01:01 PM He must be out there somewhere... Has anyone come across someone in wearing a shirt that makes your eyes water, accompanying you in a different key to the one you are trying to sing in, making tasteless comments to blonde ladies about what they might do with a fridge door, and singing shanties VERY LOUDLY. If anyone has seen our George, please put a label round his neck addressed to the Tap & Spile Whitby and post him off in time to get there for Easter Sunday. |
Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: Mrs.Duck Date: 07 Apr 03 - 01:18 PM You mean you want him back??!!!! |
Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: Jingle Date: 07 Apr 03 - 01:45 PM Well, I've never been one to bear a grudge despite him referring to me as Madame Whiplash (don't even go there)... |

Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: mandomad Date: 07 Apr 03 - 06:53 PM Tyke, old boy, please get in touch with yer Uncle Tone; you were sorely missed ( well, perhaps not that sorely) on Saturday in the Endeavour. I didn't know impromptu sessions could be that enjoyable. I know you've tried to drag us in on numerous occasions, I was suprised not to see you there. What's Whitby done to deserve this??? mandomad |
Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 08 Apr 03 - 06:58 AM Following the fantastic success of the session in the Endeavour on Saturday Scarborough Borough Council Tourist Office has taken the unprecedented step of banning Tyke from their area of jurisidction. They argue that sessions are never that good when old George (bless his loud cotton shirts)plays out of key, sings flat and causing Ocular damage to the assembled company. For once the people of Whitby are in accord with a edict from Scarborough Borough Council which in itself is highly unusual. Rumours of rejoicing have travelled the 3 ridings over and there is talk of making it a local bank holiday. |
Subject: RE: wheres tyke From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 09 Apr 03 - 07:36 AM Come on Tyke, stop sulking its only a jest, careful climbing off that high horse you may injure yourself |

Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST Date: 15 Apr 03 - 06:57 AM OK we admit it, you can have him back, where can we leave the money? Lancastrian Music Lovers |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 15 Apr 03 - 08:03 AM No no, it's alright ...........we don't actually want him back, just wanted to know he was safe and well. I'm sure you have an empty coal mine you can keep him in. We realise that you now acknowledge you made one monumental cock-up when you kidnapped him but no-one this side of the boarder will cough up to get him back and I do not think you will succeed in bribing anyone to take money from you to accept him back. No, you will have to face the reality that you are stuck with him, conversely he sings so loudly you could try selling him to the Welsh. |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Joyleen Date: 15 Apr 03 - 01:18 PM Hello there I'm from Oz just backpacking around the North of England and someone at the Youth Hostel told me there was a dance. I've always liked a bit of dancing so I said I'd go. We arrived at this hall and there was a band of muso's playing jiggy type tunes. All these folks were dancing about in a kind of pattern and someone said to me, "Do you know how to do Kylie dancing?" Well in two shakes of a wallaby's tail I was in the middle of the dance floor, lowering my shorts and bending over to reveal a nifty pair of purple lace trollies. Shock! Horror! The band stopped playing, there was a deafening silence, someone tittered and a woman fainted... One of the guys from the band leapt from the stage crying, "Stop, you've got it all wrong, not Kylie dancing, Ceilidh dancing!!" By then my cheeks(?) were flushed red with embarrassment and shame. Seeing my distress, the Pom from the band ripped off his violently patterned shirt and quickly tied it round my waist. "How can I ever thank you" I cried. Shyly holding his guitar in front of him in a futile attempt to hide his holey vest, he replied, "Just call me your Tyke in Shining Armour". Oo-roo for now folks! |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Ben Sherman Date: 15 Apr 03 - 02:55 PM Heard that Tyke had been banned from entering the bad taste shirt Contest at Whitby Folk Week! Is this true and if so I would like to know why? |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: Herga Kitty Date: 15 Apr 03 - 03:49 PM I thought I saw Tyke's double in the bar at the National on Friday night (well, I saw everything double in the bar on Friday night) but the shirt wasn't loud enough. Anyway, I'm sure Noreen would have noticed if it was him. Kitty |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: Noreen Date: 15 Apr 03 - 04:33 PM Eggzakly, Kitty- can't have been him then. His shirts wouldn't have been allowed into such an august gathering, even in April. And the chap I was talking to said it definitely wasn't him. |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Jones the Baker Date: 15 Apr 03 - 06:05 PM We definitely don't want him here or any body else from Whitby. We have it on good authority that the use to go out and try to Harpoon Wales from their boy oh and that Tyke is one of the worst of them always going for a leak! When our favourite singer is playing I don't know the name of this wonderful singer but he has a growth around his mouth like a dog worrying a rat. Is there any chance you could send that boy down to Cardiff we would gladly pay his bus fare down. Oh and if he could arrive on a Sunday could he bring down a few bottles of beer for the lads like! |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 16 Apr 03 - 06:40 AM There you go Lancastrian Guest, send him to Cardiff, (we tried Coventry it didn't work)To pay his fare will be cheaper than trying to bribe someone in Yorkshire to take him back. This way everyone benefits, you get rid of him, we don't get him back and the Taffs get yet another dubious singer, too loud, too flat/sharp (delete as applicable) Well done Jones the Baker for a wonderful suggestion |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: gnomad Date: 16 Apr 03 - 02:11 PM Re bad taste shirt contest, I've suggested he enter for a couple of years, but he just mutters something about needing amateur status to qualify. I'm sure he'll emerge in the end. Paul (runner-up for 2 years & current title holder). |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Jones The Baker Date: 16 Apr 03 - 02:44 PM No! No! No! Raggietash I said, "We do not want that Tyke in Wales!" The boy that we are looking for has a voice like, well like, and Angle! You must know the singer we mean he has a growth like a Badgers Bum sticking out of his mouth. There will be a welcome in the hillside for him make no mistake! He already has a fan club in the Rhondda The Alias Jones Fan Club! The people of Llanfihangel ar-Arth want to present him with his very own sheep. My Grandmother who is 94 say's that she cannot wait for him to arrive so that she can ask to darn his socks. We need this man down our chapel to liven the place up a bit. He will put bums on pews make no mistake. Jones the Sheep says that he reminded him of his first girlfriend when he saw him in Whitby. But tell him not to worry about Jones the Sheep as Jones the Doctor is increasing his medication. |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Ben Sherman Date: 16 Apr 03 - 02:49 PM Thank you Gnomad! That would explain it! Tyke is very proffesional about his working shirts. |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 17 Apr 03 - 03:42 AM Jonesie, You're not alluding to my good self when referring to a man with "a growth like a badgers bum sticking out of his mouth" are you! I couldn't move to Wales, I'm not qualified, I don't even like the smell of Lanolin. No No it's too much to consider ............................. have you any pretty girls with a welcome in the hillside ..........upon reflection ................ |
Subject: RE: where's tyke From: mandomad Date: 17 Apr 03 - 02:45 PM Tyke, Another half impromtu session could happen in the Endeavour this Saturday; turn up in disguise if you have to. Bring one of your strange companions, we won't mind,as long as they don't fight...or play trombone. mandomad |
