Subject: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: GUEST,Another secretary:-) Date: 29 Dec 07 - 12:50 AM In order to keep the accounts up to date and organized (I know like herding cats), we've started this "Check-In Thread" for Santees who have not received their prezzies and Santas who have not heard from their Santees. Please post if you are either one. To the Santees...you never know, there may be an alternate Santa in your life. |

Tabster should receive her presents by Candlemas, or next Lady Day, or maybe in time for the Michaelmas term. Almost assuredly before next Christmas. And that last-minute strike by the Elves, well, Santa took care of THAT nonsense. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Anne Lister Date: 30 Dec 07 - 07:05 PM I know my Santee has had the package I posted, because it's been acknowledged several times over. And my Santa has checked in, too, so some time in the next twelve months I'm sure I'll receive something. Hey, it's just like my family and birthdays ... it's like a form of savings! The official date goes by and so do up to twelve months and then suddenly there you are with a present! Anne |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 Dec 07 - 04:19 AM Usually I don't start panicking until about Candlemass.... that's when Christmas officially ends and then presents are deemed as 'a bit late'. Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: GUEST,Artbrooks's Santa, waiting and wondering Date: 01 Jan 08 - 04:59 AM Your pressie was sent on the weekend before Christmas, and I'm rather keen to find out if you got it yet. I know it does have a long way to go - I just hope it didn't melt, or the inquisitive postal possums at our end didn't get their sticky little fingers and toes on it first. They are pretty good at sniffing out sweet things. There are a few hints for you there, from your Southern Fried Santa, who is trying to catch a cool breeze while she slaves over a hot computer. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: artbrooks Date: 01 Jan 08 - 09:01 AM Nothing yet, Santa, but there was a postcard yesterday from our friendly local mailperson saying I have a " signature required" package to be picked-up on Wednesday. Could that be it? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: GUEST,Artbrooks's Secretive Southern Santa Date: 01 Jan 08 - 10:03 AM Yep, could be. Just a tip - try not to drop it. I am soo sooo sooooo sorry secret santa for all this hassle What I have found out.... The Royal Mail is only redirecting pirate letters not piraty parcels The old work offices have received nuffin Parcel force who deal with piratical parcels say they can't track it without a number. That should have been given when you launched the parcel onto the pirate skies......do you have the number????????? Anyway, my central heating's gone bust so I'll be happy to wait over at yours. "O where o where has my Santa Claus gone ... ?" Did have a bit of a conversation at one point, but kinda quiet thereafter. No notification of posting or anythin'. For that matter, my Santee hasn't given all too much feedback neither ... but at least I know the stuff has arrived. sian |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: My guru always said Date: 08 Jan 08 - 01:16 PM Though I know I've got a Santa *grin* and I know a package was sent from the USA on December 18th, nothing has appeared in Surrey UK yet. Maybe the Elves were tired & have slowed down a bit, but I'm waiting hopefully for a knock on the door. The chimmney is no good as we had a new flue installed last year. Hmm, maybe that's the problem - it'd explain why we're getting so much smoke when we open up the doors of the log-burner, better invesigate.... On the other hand I know my Santee received their package *hoorah* |

Please let us know if I've missed any one and, if you want a Rescue Santa, that would be good to know, too: Joybell - has Santa, but it's going to be late Tabster - Santa has checked in - had problems - still waiting bet - nothing since early on - a Rescue Santa has stepped forward my guru always said - has a Santa, but no gift, yet - the mails seem s-l-o-w Stilly River Sage - Santa did check in, waiting for delivery MMario - has a Santa, but no present, yet Ranger1 - nothing since early on - may need a Rescue Santa Foolestroupe - nothing showing up, yet - may need an RS, too! Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: CapriUni Date: 10 Jan 08 - 02:59 AM I thought this was just a thread for people whose packages didn't arrive. I finally got mine on December 29th, or so: two CDs (in two packages, with different return adresses on each) from a MudCatter called Cap'n Chris. I sent a PM in thanks, but got no reply (yet). :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: sian, west wales Date: 10 Jan 08 - 04:21 AM You can add me to that list, as per message below. I don't need a rescue Santa, though. There might be all kinds of reasons why a parcel doesn't come, and not always the fault of the Santa. If memory serves, and the Postal Orks ate my my first ever Secret Santa parcel. I know what was sent, and I still hold the virtual present as a fond memory. Heck, it's still early as these things go ... sian |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Alaska Mike Date: 10 Jan 08 - 06:48 AM Still no word from my Santee, KarenK. I have PM'd her and left messages in the appropriate threads, but still no response. If anyone has a contact other than Mudcat for her, could you please let me know. I sent her package weeks before Christmas and don't even know if it got there. Thanks. Mike |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: GUEST,Mmario's Santa Date: 10 Jan 08 - 08:50 AM I know I sent it a bit late to get there by the 25th, but it has now been in transit for nearly four weeks. Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: katlaughing Date: 11 Jan 08 - 11:10 PM May I make a suggestion? Maybe those of you who would like to be Rescue Santas, could write to LtS, if she doesn't mind, for the addy of a Santee who has posted they've received nothing, then sign in here as an anonymous "RS" to let others know which Santee you are taking care of? Just an idea. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: My guru always said Date: 12 Jan 08 - 04:30 AM RangerSteve, many thanks for the lovely parcel. I've posted on the ThankYou thread for you! |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Anne Lister Date: 12 Jan 08 - 05:47 AM Still nothing here, either ... LTS, is my package likely to be coming from the UK or further afield? Because if it's coming from the UK and if my Santa posted it, as was said in a message, on NY Eve, then it's probably gone astray as our mail is flowing fairly smoothly. If from elsewhere obviously anything could be happening! I got very excited yesterday but it was only some promo stuff from Vistaprint ...*sigh* Anne |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Date: 16 Jan 08 - 03:47 AM I'm not at home at the moment so can't check the files... I will have time tomorrow to look over the lists and see who had whom. Bear in mind that of a batch of Christmas cards that I sent out on December 15th, to addresses in the UK, one arrived last week, nearly three weeks after the others. If you have not received your Secret Santa gift, please PM me and I will make a note of it. Also, as Katlaughing suggested above, PM me to volunteer as a Rescue Santa and I will match you up with someone, but I won't do it until Candlemas (Feb 2nd) to give the post office a chance. Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Nancy King Date: 16 Jan 08 - 07:03 PM And whaddya know??!! My pressie WAS there waiting for me when I got home from work! YAY! Anyway, it's a beautiful wool throw from Wales -- something I can actually use! And I'm now 99.9% certain my wonderful Santa is SussexCarole, bless her heart! As an extra bonus, I'll get to thank her in person next week! Thank you, Carole! Nancy |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Stilly River Sage Date: 18 Jan 08 - 01:23 AM If Santa is abroad he/she doesn't need to be fooling with this, unless it provides entertainment for them. You want to be careful, taking those reindeer into some climates. They're liable to end up with sand fleas or sunburned hooves. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Rapparee Date: 25 Jan 08 - 10:08 PM Well, I got my pressies! And I want to thank my SS for all the neat-o stuff. Unfortunately, the armor was rusted when it got here and the pony got the scours and filled the yacht and car with...anyway, after the vet cured the pony he ran away. Otherwise, I now speak Welsh although with a Transylvanian accent. |

She's still got work to do reassigning substitute Santas and she hasn't been all that well recently. That and the poorly cat have probably kept her quite busy lately. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: Becca72 Date: 06 Mar 08 - 05:17 PM I never saw the list from last year! I been wonderin' about who that Santa was for a looong time. :-) I do believe this year's santa outed herself in the "Abandoned" thread, confirming my suspicions |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa & Santee Check-in Thread From: sian, west wales Date: 29 Apr 08 - 06:56 AM Well ... you will NEVER GUESS! I've been Santa'd! A parcel arrived today from jacqui.c ... and she only asked me for my address 5 days ago! I don't know if she's my actual Relief Santa or mailing it on behalf of someone but it was a real delight to receive it! There are a couple of Maine fridge magnets (in a nifty box), and a book of New England recipes (I feel the driving need to make cornbread) and a truly wonderful hand-crocheted teal blue shawl in which I am wrapped even as I type. Exactly MY colour and I've turned off the central heating so I can enjoy it to its full potential ... and make a contribution to energy conservation in the process. Awww ... really ... you didn't have to, people, but what a wonderful treat. Christmas in May! (Unfortunately, we're still enjoying Christmas weather as well, but what the heck!) Thanks jacqui, thanks Liz, and may I either be the last / one of the last to wish you a Happy Christmas 2007 or the first to wish you a happy Christmas 2008. sian |
